Pretty interesting. However, at least on a professional level, the proper method would be using the pen tool as a selector tool. Yes, it takes a heck of a lot more time, but you manually choose which selection to make, but the pen tool in general, even when working with Illustrations are very tricky and really time consuming. For subjects with simple colored backgrounds, it's easier using certain blending techniques and replace color-delete. Although that technique here would be more accustomed to people who are more familiar with Illustrator and vector graphics already. Wow, CS5. My school is updating to that I think around the Winter, but I'm personally not looking forward to it. Some software, for some random reason, does not transfer back, which'll really hurt some students, including me. I run CS4, but interesting, they semm to changed some of the icons around. Marquee tool looks like a brush instead of (I can't picture CS4 right now). Also, I should teach people a way faster way of viewing large tutorials and whatnot, using PDFs. Saves time, and more importantly, image size/space. ------- |

Rendering images is not easy. I agree with what DA said there although instead of using the pen tool, I used the polygonal lasso tool doing custom clicks and clicks and clicks to line through the render. Yes, like the way DA said, this method is also very time consuming and if you screw up a click, you'll have to start all over again (not unless you choose to do small portions by small portions). With the anti-aliasing/smoothing feature of the polygonal tool, after erasing the image, it would give out a very soft and smooth effect at the edges and since you manually click and separate the background from the render, you can easily omit the rough pixel edges. I'm not sure about the pen tool though since my knowledge about how to use the pen tool is practically nil >_< |

Pen Tool = Best tool. I'm not saying the others aren't effective, I'm just saying the pen is the best; albeit the most time consuming. But if you want to make a render you should make it in the best possible quality you can. When song the pen tool go in very small increments while zoomed in. It makes the cut much cleaner and smoother. Also, after you finishdrawing out the path, you have an option to feather the Inge, which makes the cut smoother! But wait, there's more! After you right click > make selection, go to select > inverse then hit delete/backspace on your keyboard, and Poof! The background is gone! Just like magic! No need for any copy pasting; render an image in just one document! /end Billy Mays telemarketing the pen tool for rendering |

Thanks for the feedbacks. I'm still new to the Photoshop functions, so I still have long way to go. I might consider everyone's suggestions & feedback when I'm free. |

Well, I think this way is for the impatient ones, like me. But rendering in general is hard, this is kinda hard for newbies, so the pen tool is very much recommended, quick selection tends to over select or erase some parts sometime. I rendered this, which is considered to be one of my best ones, well, ever. |

@naru, yeah. Indeed. It tends to be over or less. But it depends how big is the size of your selector first. I usually use 1px - 3px for those... EDIT : Cancel that for now. Anyways, I'm taking rendering request. Post here or PM me. :3 |
