Funimation went and revealed new series they have acquired to dub that will be released near the end of this year, and then next year as well. They have a few, but the one that has stood out to me would be the anime of my favorite series of all-time: Chrome Shelled Regios. The anime to me was amazing, and it got me real interested in the other forms of CSR out there. This included the manga that are mostly just a retelling or side stories of the story in manga form, and the source of the story for both the manga and anime — The Light Novels. Luckily I'm able to read most of the novels through Baka-Tsuki, and it's become my favorite series of all-time because of the light novels. Anyway, here's the info on CSR, taken directly from Funimation — FUNimation Entertainment Acquires Chrome Shelled Regios Flower Mound, TX (May 15, 2010) – FUNimation® Entertainment today announced that it has acquired the home entertainment, broadcast, digital and merchandise rights to the sci-fi action anime “Chrome Shelled Regios†from Kadokawa. The 24-episode series is directed by Itsuro Kawasaki (“Sengoku Basara†and “Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle The Movie†among others) and based on the light novel series by Shusuke Amagi and illustrated by Miyuu. About Chrome Shelled Regios In a barren future where mankind has retreated into mobile cities, a young man with a mysterious past seeks a fresh start. Reluctantly recruited into a student military unit he must once again wield his special powers in defense of his new home against the Filth Monsters that plague the wastelands. In a polluted world where cities battle over scarce resources, even students are used in the fight for survival. FUNimation Entertainment will release the series on DVD starting in late 2010. Other series picked up are [ taken directly from anime news network ] — The North America anime distributor Funimation has announced at its Anime Central panel on Saturday that it has licensed the Rosario + Vampire, Rosario + Vampire Capu2, Chaos;HEAd, Chrome Shelled Regios, Rideback, Heaven's Lost Property (Sora no Otoshimono), and GUNxSWORD anime series. All of the new titles will ship in 2011 — except for GUNxSWORD and Regios, which will ship in late 2010. We can only hope Funimation doesn't mess these series up, as pretty much all of these are pretty good series. I'm REALLY interested to see the CSR Voice Cast, but it has not yet been announced. Anyway, Let's discuss here! |

rofl shuy, nice. But I don't think I have to worry about CSR, for I have the DVD of CSR, all episodes included. Though it is not dub, it's sub. I still like it. Japanese version are always the best. I hardly like any anime that ends up being dub. |

That's pretty awesome. I would love to have the set of DvD's with subs on them, as I would probably watch them all the time, haha. If the VA Cast for Regios is good and it's not done sloppy, I may just buy it. |

I was surprised they picked up Sora no Otoshimono so quickly .. But yeah, it is win – as long as they don't mess it up. I also hope they don't butcher the endings and everything like they have with other anime. |

Viz does that with Bleach and Naruto which is SO stupid. Shouldn't even be allowed, but they have the rights to do it. :/ They didn't do that with FMA though, and I'm glad they didn't cause the OP/ED animation scenes are really awesome. I'd totally buy Sora no Otoshimono, regardless of the bad dub, and this anime might be hard to dub because of the comedy scenes.

They shortened endings and stuff, making it lackluster compared to the original. Also, I mistaked Viz for Funimation for a second when I thought about the endings and all, but at the same time dub openings/endings are sometimes nothing like the original. I don't know, I guess I needed something to have a mild rant on, LOL. I might actually buy the CSR DvD's, as long as the dubbing is done well. I'd love to have the subbed version on DvD, but I would be happy with good quality dubbing of it. They need a solid voice acting cast though, because if they have that I'm sure the quality and all will be above the average dubs. I could see SnO being hard to dub. I don't think they'll edit out anything, but from what I can remember the comedy scenes may be hard to translate and may seem a bit strange if they don't voice it right .. |

I could care less if the dub is okay or not, if it is, more for the money I guess or success to them, but the original was awesome, although it's way too short. Plus I'm interested in the price. :/

How much do they normally charge for a 12-Episode series? A better question, in regards to Chrome Shelled Regios, how much would a 24-episode series be? I wouldn't know, since I don't buy'em. I hope it's not too expensive, because money isn't exactly something I'm rolling in right now. T_T .. |

Dude, FLCL box set cost like 60 bucks alone at one point.... It varies on the series though and who's in charge of distributing it.

.. Wow, 60. FLCL was amazing, but I don't know if I could pay that much for it. [ Specially when Adult Swim spams that anyway, rofl ] Im hoping maybe like, they might sell it as a whole or divided into two parts of 12 episodes, mkaing the price total for the series around 50 or so. I don't want them to try and release like, 3-6 episodes at a time that are around 25+ to buy. |

Yeah, it really depends, stuff like this can be so irritating though. I prefer box sets though, over individual sets though, you'll save money definitely and you'll have every episode. And one more thing about FLCL, 2 episode (one set) used to cost 40$!

.. 2 for 40? That's highway robbery. And box sets would be nice for having them all, yeah. Plus from what I understand they normally come with some special features or additions. |
