To Aru Majutsu no Index RP

Academy City, a city of students. Not just any students, though - they are all espers, people with psychic powers. They didn't have these powers from birth; rather, they developed them through Academy City's "curriculum", which is geared specifically toward developing those esper abilities. You might imagine that such power would inspire an increase in crime overall, and you would be right. To counter this, a volunteer peacekeeping force called Judgement and a heavy-armament official police force called Anti-Skill were founded. They can't keep all of the crime in check, but they help a lot. You are an esper in Academy City. One warning - in Academy City, nothing is as it seems, and the most ordinary of people might turn out to be anything but... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Espers are divided into six categories based on power: Level 1: The lowest of the low. Their abilities are far from developed. Level 2: Just barely at a decent level. One might say you're ordinary, except that you're an esper. Level 3: You're good, but you still have a long way to go - those Levels 4 and 5 still outclass you. Level 4: The highest level for most people. You're at the top, except for those annoying Level 5's... Level 5: There are only seven of these in Academy City. You're at the top! Way to go! Level 0: Remember when I said Level 1 was the lowest of the low? I lied. Level 0 is the lowest... technically, they aren't even espers, because they don't have an ability. Rumors persist of a Level 0 who can nullify esper powers on contact, but no one knows the truth... or do they? Also, esper abilities are unchanging. Everyone has exactly one ability, (except the Level 0's) and that ability doesn't change as they progress through the Levels. Its power, however, does increase, and so does the number of things you can do with it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The rules are as follows: -Take a look at the Gendou Forum RP rules if you haven't already. -No swearing in-post! -No character-jacking, killing, or usage of ridiculous or unrealistic tactics! Slipping on a banana peel is NOT a good way to dodge an attack! -Your character MUST be AT LEAST Level 2! -I am not currently accepting Level 5 espers. PM me if you want one, along with your design for said character. -Do NOT use characters from the anime series, the manga, or the light novel that said manga and anime are based off! -Academy City is in Japan. Please use Japanese names unless you have a valid reason for not doing so. -BE CREATIVE! I can't stress this enough! I can't list all the players I've seen rely on brute force or preset tactics to win! Win in a creative way! -UPDATE: You may have up to three characters. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The character sheet is as follows: -Name: -Age: (In teens, please) -Power Name: (Make it scientific-sounding.) -Level: -Abilities: -Bio: -Personality: -Picture/Description: As an example, my character is as follows: -Name: Tohru Tokino -Age: 15 -Power Name: Cryokinesis (control over ice, basically) -Level: 4 -Abilities: --Frozen Ground: Tohru can freeze the ground and then ice skate on it. This is a very efficient way of leveling the playing field if he's up against someone else. --Numbness: Tohru can cause someone's limbs to get so cold that they lose all feeling in them. --Icicle Spear/Sword: Tohru can create a lance or a sword out of ice. --Freezewall: Tohru can make a wall out of ice. --Mechanics Disrupt: If Tohru knows how a mechanical device works, he can use a small amount of ice to interrupt its actions. -Bio: Tohru was one of the orphans that Academy City picks up periodically to forcibly enroll in curriculum. He has been subject to Academy City's teaching system for as long as he can remember. -Personality: Deadpan, and brutally honest. He doesn't show much emotion. -Picture/Description: Black hair, cropped short. An average build, slim but not weedy. An everyman, really.

-Name: Yuuko Tanaka -Age: 16 -Power Name: Biological Manipulation (can control the biological make-up of self and others) -Level: 3 -Abilities: Yuuko can heal wounds and broken bones and also speed recovery from diseases. Her power also gives her the ability to cause disease as well as alter herself/others physically for good or ill, though she is determined never to do harm with her abilities. -Bio: Yuuko came to Academy City shortly after losing her mother to cancer. She never knew her father. -Personality: Her failure to cure her mother's cancer has made her incredibly hard on herself, but she is kind and helpful to others and often acts as an older-sister figure to the younger/newer students. -Picture/Description:   |

-Name: Katsu Usagi -Age: 16 -Power Name: Techinipath -Level: 4 -Abilities: -Technipath - he can control technology with his mind. -Bio: He has a family but they are too caught up in being "normal" for him. They are upper class, rich, ignorant snobs, as far as he is concerned he doesn't want anything to do with them. He was only sent to the Academy because it claimed to be a prestigious place, and if it were left up to him he would stay there continuously. -Personality: Calm and laid back, has a sense of humor. He may be really intelligent but he acts like he's the class clown. He is helpful and kind, but only when he wants to be. -Picture/Description:  -Name: Hotaru Sumiko -Age: 15 -Power Name: Foresight -Level: 3 -Abilities: - She can see the future. -Bio: She comes from a family of espers that live in the surrounding city, naturally she was sent to the academy to develop her own skill, though they are very different from those of her family. -Personality: Energetic and outgoing, she is the girl you go to when you need a good laugh. She is an artsy person who often struggles with her school work. She is a care free kind of person. -Picture/Description:   |

[Matsuda Harue] [Sixteen] [Pyrokinesis (control and manipulation of fire)] [Level 2] [So far, she can only control and manipulate fire if she's near enough to see and focus on it clearly.] [Harue was born to a long line of espers, and has a lot of pressure put on her, therefore.] [Coy, kind of shy. Has alot of determination to excel and never gives up under pressure.]

It would, but I'd like fresh players, if at all possible. Also, I've updated the rules section so that you can have up to three characters.

[Tachibana Chishio] [Fifteen] [Bone Manipulation (the ability to create new bone mass or manpiulate existing bone mass, et cetra)] [Level 4] [Can manipulate bone and create new bone mass. He is able to project his bones from his body, as well as rearrage his bones within his body. He uses this ability to create several different types of weapon, the most common being a large scythe or throwing knives. He is also known for his defence mechanism, which he never uses unless it's completely necessary. Ultimate Defence - A shield of bone that is nearly impenetrable. Takes an immense amount of stamina to create and maintain.] [Chishio is from a rather prestigious family that owns Tachibana Industries, a rather famous trading company. His family is torn between revering his powers or fearing him for them.] [A little introverted — being raised in his home most of his life, he's not exactly sure of how to react to people, or how they'll react to him. He's sure that everyone is going to treat him the same way his family did. He has a softer, nearly squishy side underneath his hard shell — he reads and writes poetry, and some of his favourite pastimes are star- and cloud-watching.]

Okay, let's start. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Academy City, a city of a little over two million espers. Tohru Tokino was easily in the top 10%, by virtue of being Level 4. "Oy, you," said a thug in a dirty alleyway. Tohru stopped and turned his head. "Yeah?" "Hand over all your money," the guy said. "No thanks," Tohru said. "I'm not so charitable that I can give to every lame case out there." He started walking again. "Oh no you don't," the guy said. "Take this!" He swung a lead pipe he had been carrying at Tohru's head. Tohru ducked, having responded to the guy's shout and estimated his moves. He then rammed the guy in the stomach with a headbutt, and punched him in the mouth. "Oh yes I do," he said. Leaving the guy in the dust, he continued to walk down the alleyway. "Pathetic Level 0," he said, shaking his head... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This was an introductory paragraph. Using one is optional, but if you do so, please label it as such.

Katsu Usagi [Introductory Paragraph] Katsu sat on the couch in his dorm room, he was starting at the television screen in front of him. The his PS3 was on but he had no controller in his hands, and despite it's obvious absence the little avatar was moving across the screen. A little beep went off behind him and he spun around the video game turning onto the pause screen automatically. His focus was now on the e-mail he was receiving from his best friend. He read the email quickly and with the mere blink of an eye he brought up a new e-mail page. "Right be there in a minuet." He said, and as he spoke the words typed themselves into an new e-mail. He turned back to the video game and finished the level before grabbing his jacket and running down the hallway and out of the dorm building. Sorry, I posted kinda late, I'll edit my orginal post and add another character, there are a few things I wanted to try out anyway :) |

..h a r u e.. Introductory Paragraph With her eyes locked on the flame to her right, she concentrated until she could pull it into her hand; and though it was only small, it felt like a great accomplishment for her. It had been nearly twenty feet away this time, a new record! "How was it, Tou-san? Did I do okay?" Her grin was bright as she clasped her hand over the small flame and extinguished it. Dark brown eyes locked on the man in front of her expectantly, but he only shook his head. "That's not good enough. With your eyes closed now, Harue." His voice was like ice, and it was nearly enough to put out her own fire; but those eyes began to burn even brighter. "Ask me again when you can produce your own fire." He left, and Harue hung her head; but the passion built up inside her until she couldn't hold on. If he wanted her to conjure her own flame, then she would do it, no matter how much work it took. Deciding upon a change of location, Harue grabbed her candle and a lighter, slipping on her shoes and running out of the small courtyard that her home enclosed. There had to be somewhere more real to practice. ..xXx.. ..c h i s h i o.. Introductory Paragraph He picked up his pen, his secret notebook open on his lap. He sat outside, watching people pass by him without even looking up. They were much too absorbed in their own agendas to notice him, and it didn't bother him. To Chishio, that was natural life. Touching the pen to the paper, he began to write out a new poem. Lonliness is darkness, A never-ending night. Even thought the black won't go away, You'll never fall asleep. Because lonliness sparks a fear, And unlike other nightmares, Awakening will not vanish it; For the darkness is too strong To allow anyone to rest. It makes memories into ghosts, And dreams into spirits. Too vague to remember, Too important to forget.

Yuuko Tanaka [Introductory Paragraph} Yuuko sat under the shade of a large tree in the park, marveling at what a beautiful day it was. She had a book in her lap, but at this moment was watching a group of boys doing tricks on their skateboards. Or at least trying to. Within a few minutes one of the boys had slipped off of his board and taken a spectacular, though none too graceful, dive right into the concrete. Yuuko put her book in her bag and quickly walked over to the boy, who had busted his chin and broken a few teeth as was now crying. He looked to be the youngest of the group, probably only 6 or 7. "I told you we shouldn't have brought him along.", One of the boys grumbled. "Yeah, quite being such a cry baby." Another said. "Let me see." Yuuko said, startling the group of boys who had not noticed her approach. She knelt down infront of the little boy. "What's your name?" "Tai" He managed through sobs. "Well, Tai, I know you're a brave boy. You know how I know? I saw you try that trick and believe me, I'd be too scared to do something like that. So I know you'll be brave now and hold perfectly still for me." Tai nodded and did as he was told. Yuuko put her hands infront of Tai's face, closed her eyes, and concentrated. Within a minute his wounds were entirely healed, the only sign that they had been there being the blood still on his chin and shirt. "There you go." She said, taking a napkin from her bag and wiping off the blood. "Th-thank you, Miss..." "Yuuko." She said, with a smile. "Thank you, Miss Yuuko." |

The end-of-class bell rang. Tohru got up from a seated position that not only suggested but screamed boredom, bypassed the throngs of more sociable students, and slipped out into the hallway. He then walked toward the front, bypassing more throngs of students. Now in the courtyard, he maneuvered around still more throngs and exited the courtyard. "Tokino!!" a voice yelled. Tohru turned his head one hundred degrees to face the speaker, who was a thuggish guy with a bad haircut and an ugly face. He was Hajime Kisaragi, a Level 3 pyrokinetic, and he looked at Tohru as a rival - much to Tohru's annoyance and occasional embarrassment. He was, at the moment, hurtling toward Tohru in a mad charge. Same old, same old. Tohru dodged and said, "You know, it's best not to call out when you're ambushing someone on their way out of school." "I knew you'd dodge," Kisaragi said. "Just what I'd expect from my rival!" He created a ball of flame in his right hand and hurled it at Tohru. Tohru started running to the right as soon as Kisaragi made to throw it, and then created ice all along the ground near Kisaragi. Then, he charged at him, fist in prime punching position. Kisaragi stepped forward to try and cross-counter the expected punch, but slipped on the ice and fell on his face. Not missing a beat, Tohru slowed down just in time to step on Kisaragi's back. "I'm not a rival if you can't even scratch me," Tohru said. "I'd say that's enough embarrassment for one day, considering practically the whole school turned up to watch." It was true, too. You can't have a street fight just after school without drawing a crowd. Tohru stepped off of Kisaragi's back, said, "Let me through", and walked through the gap in the crowd that followed.

Katsu [After Class] Katsu walked out of class and straight on though, not really caring where he was headed, he was finished for the day and that was all that mattered. He was halfway though the court yard when someone called out. "Tokino!!!" the voice screamed. Katsu knew what was coming and smartly stepped out of the path of Tohru's rival, who was charging as fast as his feet could carry him. The two got into a discussion, albeit, it was a slightly heated discussion. Complete with a power show... It was typical with these two boys. Tohru, who was pretty much the anti-social kid of the academy and Hajime who was trying his best to fit in somewhat, but his rambunctious attitude and terrible hair cut rendered his efforts pointless. Katsu watched this whole ordeal and shrugged as it ended. "Well that was interesting." he said as he walked out of the court yard and jogged to catch up with Tohru. Despite his usual standoffish, Tohru could make for interesting company. Katsu caught up with him in a few seconds. "Hey Tohru, I know you think that whole rival thing is annoying, but you've got some pretty nice lady admirers thanks to those little shows. Hotaru [Introduction Paragraph] Hotaru was not the strongest kid in the school, she was still only a level three, but in her eyes that was good enough for now. She still had a few years until graduation. She was staying with her parents that lived in the city surrounding the academy, because it was pointless to take up dorm rooms when she could walk home and back between classes. It was after school and the sun was high up in the air, normally Hotaru would have met up with her best friend and gone to the park, but she was working on her techniques. So today she was working on her second favorite thing. Getting up the guts to talk to Chishio. Hotaru waspositively taken with him, and so never really had the guts to talk with him. He was mysterious and everyone rumored that he had the most unique gift of everyone at the academy. She sat in a tree a little ways from where he was sitting, trying to conceal herself. This was the one of the few times that Hotaru was actually serious, otherwise she was usually quite hyper. After sitting there for a while, she finally felt confident enough. "Etto, Chishio, what are you writing?" she asked walking over to him. |

Tohru paused, then turned. "Do I?" he said, after a moment. "Are you sure? I mean, I'd think they'd all be afraid of me." Tohru wasn't so perceptive when it came to women.

Katsu "Do I" Tohru asked pausing to turn around, "Are you sure? I mean, I'd think they'd all be afraid of me." Katsu beamed at his class mate. "Nah, just look," he pointed at a group of younger girls who were following in toe. They all blushed and started to squeak a little when Tohru looked at them. Katsu patted him on the back "congratulations you are now officially inducted into the boys with a fan club, association." As if to make a point Katsu turned a few degrees to his right where a separate group of girls almost keeled over at the sight of the red head boy. "It's not as bad as it sounds, you can ignore them if you like" he said and turned Tohru back on the path he had been previously traveling. |
