If you ask me, the first Kingdom Hearts game was simply amazing, I could play that game again and again, for many reasons, too. Not only is the gameplay fantastic beyond reason, but they make it challenging in a sense as well. For example, you can't just spam the X button and hope to kill every enemy in the game, no, you NEED magic for certain enemies, and sometimes there are guys that block everything you throw at them until you attack at the right time. Also, with the skills, they don't make it so you can just press X and have it execute, but instead they make you have to time it properly and wisely. Sure you can use some of them whenever you feel like it, but sometimes when you do that, you screw yourself over by using it and then completely missing the guy you were aiming for. The story is one of a kind, and the beginning of one of the greatest ever created in my opinion, as the main hero, Sora, travels through different Disney(R) worlds and meets different Square Enix(R) and Disney(R) characters, this game brings together what both companies have been trying to say for all these many years; There is always light when darkness comes, and your heart can never fully be taken over, no matter how much darkness there may be. This game also marked the beginning of many great things to come, leaving many questions unanswered and many storied untold, this game will start the series off with a fantastic opening. I bought Re: Chain of Memories on the PS2, and I thought it was simply fantastic. The story is what got me the most on it, as it explains almost perfectly everything you wanted to know about why Sora was in that chamber at the beginning of the second one. The card system in this game was very thought out, as you have to think strategically if you want to survive. By being able to use only certain attacks, and by having the rank of that attack affect your opponent, you really have to think fast and act fast in this game in order to get anywhere somewhat easily. The card system in this game uses numbers, or each card ranks from 0-9. Zero, being the highest and lowest, can counter any attack, but also can be countered by anything as well. In essence, a zero can counter a 27, but can also be stopped by a 1. I say 27 because the card system in this game is interesting in it's ways of using abilities. You have to stack three cards on top of each other in a proper order in order to execute a skill. If you stack three 9 cards, you get an attack with a number of 27, which can only be stopped by another 27, or a zero. During the fights in this game, you can freely choose which card to use or stack in your current deck of cards. While you are choosing, you can freely move around and jump to avoid attacks, so you can execute your next attack easier, and finish the fight with style. The story in this game is one of the best if you ask me, as it explains everything you wanted to know about everything pretty much. You start off entering Castle Oblivion, and slowly as you go through it, everyone starts forgetting their past adventure, KH1. I wont spoil it, but let's just say that you will not regret playing this game if you want the full story of the Kingdom Hearts series. Kingdom Hearts 2, as many would say, is one of the greatest games in our time. I agree and also disagree with this, as it is indeed a great game, but not quite as good as the first one, because of it's simplicity. Gameplay in this one is way to easy, I'll admit it has it's parts where you need to think, but you could probably beat every boss in this game with your eyes closed if you really wanted to. Most of the time, to execute every skill you have, all you need to do is press X over and over, and you will win. Sure there are other things to do, but really, if you just spam X, you will beat whatever it is you are fighting. There is a good part to this gameplay though, as it is a lot quicker than in the first game, so it looks better, and there are new "skills" you can use during them, depending on the enemy. For certain enemies, you can press the triangle button at the right time to pull off a monster skill as I like to call them. These skills automatically do something awesome that you don't control, which in turn makes it even easier still. Story in this game is still really good, but doesn't end quite the way I wanted it to, by explaining every unanswered question I had. This game actually starts one year after the first game, but way to much has changed in that one year. Now that I think about it, the story doesn't really get into it all that much. Most of the story is lots of little stories that don't pertain much to the big one, and the big one is...well there isn't really a big one, other than you need to kill heartless and nobodies while trying to find Kairi still. If you want to play a KH game for gameplay graphics, this is the one for sure. The one on the DS, is good, but bad. It's great cause you get to see Roxas's story, and that's amazing, but it's bad with it's way of leveling and using skills and such. After a little bit in the game, you will notice this big board full of empty squares, these squares are where you can attach everything you get, from level ups to magic to items. When you level, you get it as an item, in order to level, you need to attach it to one of these squares. YOu only start off with 30, but as you progress, you can get up to around 200 or so if I remember right. As I was saying, you have to attach them, so if you wanted, you can take off a level up and store it in your inventory. As awkward as that sounds, it's true. You also have to attach your weapon and any upgrades you get in this area. For example, you get an air dash fairly early in the game, and you'll notice there is a blank space in the thing you attach to it, this is where you install the air dash level up. You get these items as you get farther in the game, but you can attach skills and their upgrades in this manner. Gameplay in this game is just like the second KH game, you run around and press X a lot, but it's also a little more innovative because you can only use certain things a certain amount of times. So if you only attach three fire spells in the box area, you can only use fire three times unless you have an ether attached in the box area as well. Once you use items, they are gone, their space in the box is free, and you have to find another of the item if you want to use it again. This is easy as items are very common in this game. This game takes place in the timeline of right before Sora goes into Castle Oblivion, to right before Kingdom Hearts 2 begins, as you all know. I have not played Birth by Sleep yet, but I can't wait to, as it is going to be amazing, I can tell. It's a prequel to the Kingdom Hearts series, so it will explain more about where the Keyblade came from I hope. I honestly have no idea, I'm just hoping. If anyone knows, please don't spoil it for the rest of us. |

I agree with you on the Kingdom Hearts series, when I first saw the game in the paper my first though was "Disney and Square-Enix (I think it was SquareSoft at the time) No way this would work out" but when I played it my opinion of the game completely changed. Imagine my surprise seeing Squall Leonhart from FFVIII with better graphics and voice along with Selphie Tilmitt. but the game left alot of questions unanswered. Re : Chain of Memories - The Card Battle system threw me off and it was annoying to the point of frustration, but it DID make you think stragically about your boss battles. Axel and Vexen being the main ones who gave me trouble in the game, the element cards did give me a helping hand. Kingdom Hearts 2 - What can I say about this one? I loved the Reaction commands and the appearance of Organization XIII, the one thing that irked me was Atlantica, Sora turned into two-keyblade weilding hero..to a singing merman lol nerdy much? Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep - This one I'm definately looking forward too. No spoilers but what I can say is that the reason that Ventus and Roxas look alike will be explained, the characters are Ventus, Aqua, and Terra. the Keyblades, Organization XIII, everything will come to light in this one. a rumored released date will probably be around June or August of this year keep your fingers crossed everyone! |

There's some things I agree and disagree with you on: Although I never fished laying the first Kingdom hearts Game, I loved playing it. It was definitely not a "run around and attack randomly". If you got caught up with one enmy the others around you would attack while you were open. That brought the difficulty along with it. And also the fact that you HAD to use magic on some enemies. I never took a liking to magic except for cure so that ave me the challenge. Chain of Memories is my least favorite out of them all. The card battle system annoyed me, and whenever you would counter with a 9 or 0 your enemy would then counter that. The AI's decks were stacked so that you run run out of cards before they used 5. And thae fact that you had to use cards to progress to a new room annoyed me even more. Sometimes you need need a specific card, then grind for hours searching for it and battling enemies but you still wouldnt be able to find it. Kingdom Hearts 2 is my favorite so far. I've played it over about 7 times already and have had it for about 3 years (yes I know it came out earlier but i didn't have a PS2 up until that long ago, or was it 4?). Just the elements of the game made it fun for me. Plus, I would laugh at myself in tht game, since I was searching for the last Orichalcum+ to make the Ultima Weapon. I kept passing the chest over and over again till i found it. There's also a lot of parts where you jus seem to have fun with the hacking-and-slashing. The 1000 heartsless battle for instance. That's my favorite part of the game. I think they shouldve done a "survival mode" type mini-game where the heart;ess come in waves. I would've played that over and over again. Also the Sephiroth fight tests your skill. The first time I beat him i was about 84, then on my second playthrough came back with a victory at level 47. Don't believe me? I have 2 friends that saw. Also, the addition of the drive forms made it more interesting for me as well. Birth by Sleep I am anticipating. I just can't wait to come out and have all the missing links filled in. Also, it's rumored to be the longest game in the franchise with 15 hours for each characters story. Also playing as each of the characters, specializing in different fields will be a change of venue well deserved for the following fans, since all we've been able to do is use Sora and Roxas who have the same fighting style as each other. I'm definitely getting a PSP for this game and a few others that i can't wait for. |

KH sucks. OK, not sucks, but it's insanely overrated.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.
