FMA: Brotherhood in English debut on 2-14-10

Sunday on Adult Swim, they will be showing FMA: Brotherhood in english at midnight on saturday (which is really sunday). Isn't it a bit early to actually air the dub? Have they released Brotherhood's DVDs yet? I've waited to get into Brotherhood until the dub's out, and maybe I'll have a chance to see it, if I'll either watch it online somewhere (streamed) or at my friend's. FUNimation's changed a bit in the past few years, hopefully they're still on track with this famous series.

i hope my ears dont hurt horribly when i listen to them but the original fma voices werent bad so ill give this a try. ill read a manga rather than listen to horrible voice acting i.e. bleach and naruto.  |

The dub of the original was amazing. I missed the debut of Brotherhood's dub, did anyone see it?

He always sounds girly, he's a kid still, lol, but yeah he does have a new voice (dub).

Aww... but but but but but... Vic doesn't make that good of a presentation of Edward... I very much prefer Paku's voice over Vic's when it comes to Edward. Vic can't get that "I'm still a kid sometimes" feeling when he voices Ed, which is exactly what Ed really is. Vic gets only the seriousness of Edward. Paku gets that serious attitude well, but also grasps Edward's playful and joyful side. But anyway, yea, I just don't like Vic voicing Ed. x_x;; |

How can you not like Vic? In both the original and the Brotherhood, he and Travis Willingham [ Roy Mustang ] have stood out as some of the best dubbing roles in history [ in my personal opinion ]. They nail the roles, and do an amazing job. Now, as for Vic, I think he nails the playful or kid-like side of Edward near perfectly. Both Vic and Paku do amazing jobs at the role, and while I currently watch the subs of brotherhood rather then the dubs, I still think Vic's job as Edward may be the better of the pair. I don't see why you think he can't nail it. Now, as for the Voice Acting job with Brotherhood as a whole for the dub, I am not " as moved " as I was in the original. While I know the former VA of Alphonse can no longer do the role [ his voice is too deep ] and that Al sounds a little girly anyway, I still think he sounds almost -too- girly in the dub. HOWEVER, as the episode have progressed [ We just finished 13 ] he seems to be getting a deeper and better style to his Al voice. First couple episodes it was kinda off, but now it's starting to work for him. For the other voices in the dub that haven't moved me like before, I'm not a huge fan of the new Scar. Like the new Al, his voice is starting to grow on me, I still think the old Scar was better [ I'm not sure why he isn't back to reprise the role ]. Travis has done another great job with Roy, as he and Vic are what make the FMA Dubs really shine in my eyes. The rest of the cast is being done well too, but I won't lie — something seems a bit off with Brotherhood. Maybe they are rushing? I'm not sure what the issue may be [ if there is one ] but it just seems like the quality or chemistry seen in the original dub isn't back in full force. Don't get me wrong, it's still great, but it's not at the same level as the original. Sorry, guess I got off on a tangent, haha – but I guess that's all I have ~ |

I don't like how Al sounds, but I've only seen the dub like two times cause I don't have my own TV personally, but I think Ed's still pretty good (friggin' amazing in the original series). I LOVE the artwork though, it's so smooth and clearer and the animation is pretty better too, respectively.

The artwork and all is near identical to the manga, but for -certain- characters [ Scar, Mustang, Hohenheim ] I prefer the art style and artwork of the original anime. Reason being, the faces and eyes of these three characters look alot smoother and constant with the other characters in the world, rather then the manga and second anime where they come off as blocky heads [ Scar, Hohenheim ] and strange placement/look of eyes [ Mustang ]. I believe Scar and Hohenheim appear that way for age and build, but Mustang's eyes just come off as strange for the most part. — A note though, Mustang's eye don't always look weird. For most frames in the manga and scenes in the anime, though, they have a weird feeling to them. It's kinda hard for me to explain. It doesn't look bad, just different I suppose. Sorry to rant there [ I've done that in a few threads tonight, rofl ]. And yeah, I think we can all tell, even with Vic [ Edward ] he still is amazing in Brotherhood, but like the other VA's something just seems off with this anime. |

It's just a weird change to adjust too, but usually remakes are like that. Well it's been so long since they voiced for the dub. As amazing as they were in the original, American VAs aren't used to the constant work ethic of the Japanese seiyu. They use different styles for different characters, but for an American VA, it's totally different, because in general, they're not doing either good projects to start with or their character will be bad or just a side character. I waited so long to pick up the dub when Brotherhood finally got dubbed, and now I can't watch it consistently because no TV, but I'm hoping to get one when I come back from Summer break. I gotta start looking soon or whenever I have free time, but yeah I might pick up the manga (again) and probably the Japanese version.

As far as the manga goes, I'm all caught up. **MAJOR NOTE** You should know that the anime is literally like, 10 episodes away from catching the manga, if that. However, my major note for you is that next month is the FINAL FMA Chapter. Chapter 108 will be the end of FMA, meaning the end of the anime will be somewhere around 75 episodes I think. By the way, if you have your own internet now, can you watch Subs online or Dubs online through some other way? Or did you just want to see the Dub, haha. On the subject of the VA's, I can agree. It's hard to find great VA's because of things like that, but the FMA cast is amazing. I guess it's just because it's been so long that it seems kinda off. |

Yeah a close roomate of mines told me that since he's reading the manga fully. So it's easy to catch up, I'm currently re-reading some other manga/new manga like Air Gear and etc. I'm really putting myself up in a pinch here, I'll have to check for updates like, every day, haha. I'd rather see the dub on an actual TV. Plus it'd be harder to find online. It's on Zune, but you'd have to pay for it, which is just lame. Knowing Adult Swim though, they could always re-air it numerous times after finishing. XD Well here's one hint, American VA's don't grow up with the required or even basic training, to stay consistent when doing their job. Some VA's will only even do one character for their entire like (e.g. characters of DBZ). Plus Japanese seiyus are just WAY better than anyone in the world regardless of no training at all, it's almost natural to them.
