State of Emergency - AIPHAIL

So today's been absolutely the worst day of my life, thus far as I can remember so far. So much stuff happened today, it's absolutely ridiculous. Here's my story. Okay, so I was at my friend's dorm (as usual) hanging out and whatnot, eventually I got tired and (as usual) slept and crashed on their couch at around 12 at night. At around 4:30 later, there's a fire alarm that wakes my butt up, so we go outside (like we have to). But unlike the usual fire alarms which I usually sleep through or skip, this was just a chain of the worst day. So talk spread around quickly that it was the cause of some carbon dioxide leak of some sort, which is dangerous. At around 5 - 5:00, they tell us to move to the other dorms to take shelter from the blasting cold that early in the morning in center city. We're just hanging out, talking, then a friend of another friend we were with, comes in and tells us that there was a SEPTA bus that crashed into a poll or something, so we go out to see. After that, we decided to walk around to random stores (Borders, F.Y.E., etc.) to buy time, y'know, there's nothing else to do. We weren't aloud to go back into our dorms by the way after they evacuated the entire building. Oh no, the story doesn't end there. Just to add this in, there apparently was a bar fight at 2:30, too. First chain? Not sure. So it's around mid morning now, and we just went to the library building to relax. There was food (donuts, bananas) and water to help keep us fed to some extent. I had class at 12:30 and since I was up and whatnot, I just went to get the attendance and whatnot. The teachers are notified of the unfortunate circumstance of all the students, so yeah. So now it's later at night, and they made an announcement that the residents would be split into the hotels. So skipping a few parts in between that you can ask me, I'm currently typing this via my Macbook, via their internet. Not even sure if it's their actual internet or whatever, just picked some random connection and it was fast so, tch, I'm using it. But yeah, it's ben on the news all morning long, and there's a big chance our dorms could be shut down indefinitely for violating a bunch of codes and stuff.

Woah... DA that sucks so bad! I'm real sorry to hear about it. You've had a lot of trouble recently haven't you? Your desktop got BOSD'd, Adobe cancelled your order, and now this chain of events. I'm real sorry to hear about this man. Wish I could help someway. Wait, I hope they're not charging you for hotel costs. Are they? |

Talk about the worse day for the month... How did that leak happen in the first place? |

Tch, that's an understatement Kay. It's so bad, like waking up like that in the first place just sucks. I'm so hungry, but I don't feel like going outside in the cold to get food. They had the free dinner at the school at 7, but I didn't even get done with grabbing my stuff and moving into my hotel assignment until like nine. There's a squirt of shampoo for the night/morning, but yeah all my sketchbooks are back at the dorm which I can't re-enter, so like teachers can't give me any type of crap for it, cause it's not my fault anyways. Kay, not sure how it was leaked, but if it wasn't for the one girl who had the carbon dioxide meter, we'd probably all be in serious condition. But apparently it's against the law for a dorm with that many students to not have one, so they're going to get grabbed for that. The windows in our dorm are sealed shut, too, cause people do dumb stuff like throw stuff out the window, but it's also hazardous for actual fires and umm... carbon dioxide, so they can't like take it out of the dorm. They tried to search for the source of it today, but yeah not sure what was taking them so long, think they didn't even try. But the fact that there's the stuff within the walls that is VERY hazardous, yeah bad luck all over. It's been on the news all day, all morning, all night, like I'm by myself in this room, they even also messed up and separated me from my roomates so like, honestly, I'm scared. It's like dropping your baby into a random country and just flying off. It's not far from my school, like I know the surroundings still even though I'd have to walk around, but yeah. And yeah dude, one of the worst days ever. And last week, the entire dorm had a black out for about five hours, jesus.

Crappy day huh? At least the teacher's can't give you any crap for not having your books. But for this kinds of things happened suddenly, it's a wonder... But yea, sealing up the windows isn't quite a good idea. Like you've said, if there's actual fires, gas leaks or a broken air conditioner in summer...things will probably get nasty...but why people would do dumb things like throwing things outta the window...probably they were bored or something or having fights and starts throwing stuff around or guys climbing out the window to go to one of the girl's room...or....*goes on and on* Ahem! Anyways, what kind of stuff that was stuffed in the walls? I hope it's not something like China did...*remembers the collapsed Shanghai Bridge* oh yea, any news site where the news was featured? |

[@Rinnie] No idea, but it's possible I could be in this hotel for months. For the rest of the year even. I need my stuff, there's so much stuff. My mom just made food Sunday that's in the fridge that I never touched, which'll go bad. :/ All my snacks and drinks, my other technology, the rest of my school books which I need which I'm not re-buying. I have to skip my morning class today cause I don't have my books with me and there's nothing I'd be able to do in class, and I failed the same class (on purpose) last quarter to retake it this quarter, and my grade so far has been like zero, so this doesn't help. I mean I can still survive, buy food and whatnot, but still the internet's slow cause it's shared by many (I doubt it's a T1 connection -_-"), yeah... [@Kay] Yeah but mid-terms are coming up and I'm going to be heavily affected cause I won't be able to hand in anything. And yeah, I so wished it could've been just a random fire alarm, but wow, to be involved in something like this is nerve wrecking. Friggin' idiots have to do this stupid stuff to affect other people, like they just deserve an ass kicking. But even so the school's responsible for all of this. They're under code and can have huge lawsuits and whatnot coming their way. Seriously. I hope it doesn't get shut down, but from what I've heard around with other students, yeah, I have no idea. About people going to other girl's room, why sneak out the window, it's totally aloud. There's no mixed dorming like two genders sharing a room (officially), but guys and girls can do whatever they want. I mean my roomate's gf pretty much sleeps in his bed every night, so yeah. Try this link. Their embed link is not working. My internet's really slow, not sure why the one I was using yesterday (randomly) just suddenly failed. :/ If you still can't find it, the title of the video you can search is "CO scare forces hundreds from dorm". Also to note, there's been a lot more revealed after this broadcast though. And the stuff that was in the walls were all bad stuff like molding of some sort, dead rats. I was wondering why I never ever saw a rat, so yeah guess I found out where they were, but pretty much living on the other side of stuff that can already kill us from the start. Awesome. Ugh, this sucks. My room is gone, my food is gone, my school grades are going to be dropped so much, ugh. Teachers better be understanding of the situation, but like, jesus, I'm so pissed and upset inside right now. Sorry if people are like "why does DA need to make this thread? It's not important to me", I just needed to vent, I apologize if someone's upset from this. :/

@DA CO? Haha...I think you might wanna change the first post cause you said it was Carbon Dioxide. CO is Carbon Monoxide fyi^^ Btw, who's the guy(s) that got himself on live television on 0:24 and 2:00? But yea...five in the morning and these things happens. I was quite surprised you were involved in this. At least nobody was injured so but it looks like everyone is pretty much inconvenienced. You got any news when it's gonna be clear? FYI, I imagined the dorm to be much different O.o |

Yeah I just realized it, lol. But yeah, there's like no way to vacuum it out with the windows sealed shut. Not sure who that random dude was. My one friend was on TV though, and the same news cast interviewed my other friend about the calorie thing being shown on menus now in fast food restaurants. It can either take a few days to a FEW MONTHS! The dorm is under code, so it possibly might be shut down but honestly I don't want that. I want my normal room back and whatnot, but yeah, life's going to be different for a while now. How did you imagine it, Kay? Larger? Bigger? Also, there's 17 floors, not 14 as the news lady was incorrect. The pipes are pretty bad though, they make loud noises all the time and it always seems bad. Also, one girl apparently went to the hospital though, but the reason from me, is unknown. Yeah nobody really got hurt, which is important but still we're loosing a bunch of stuff here. A few people on that bus were injured back, too. This one dude said he crashed cause he was texting or something, lol. Wow.

Wow, that seriously sucks... I can't believe a bus crashed during this whole thing too. That is pretty funny if you think about it. Sorry to hear you might be stuck with out your things for months, you'd think they'd start devising a plan to remove stuff the student need, I mean they can't possibly expect you to pay for new text books and stuff. Sorry to hear about your food, but I wouldn't eat it anyway XD... Soooo.... I'm going college hunting this summer and that college was on my list... Should I even bother XD Sorry DA I hope things get better soon!! |

That's pretty bad, but atleast you're alright and I'm sure your teachers will definately cut you some slack with the assignments and whatnot. But really Carbon Monoxide, bad pipes, seal windows? That's just asking for trouble they shouldn't allowed things to get that bad

Dang dude that reminds me of the one that was here too a bus driver was texting while he was driving and there was also a vid on youtube about it (i forgot what it was called) I hope they give back of what you lost as for food and supply i can only hope that you can last long with what they give you including shelter, just hang in there DA I'm sure you'll pull through no matter how bad it is.

thanks for the good wishes guys. will help me get through this if the internet is a bit faster. >_<;; [@Rinnie] There was a bar fight apparently at like 2:30, too, and just other stuff going wrong that early morning/night. They're not going to make us move more stuff into the hotels, where we're temporarily staying, cause then the move back is rough. They didn't help us move, we brought what we could, and whatever are bodies could bring, we brought. My arms were full as it is, a teacher can't expect me to use two arms to carry my Macbook case, a duffle bag of clothes, my bookbag of materials on my back, these sketch books that I needed are like huge, too, but with my two arms alone there's no way I could bring 'em with me, unfortunately they're important. I might buy a little sketchbook though, cause I was going to eventually get one anyways for my Life Drawing class Thursday. You wouldn't want to eat my mom's food? Why? It's banging! XD Oh, and with food arrangements, people who moved out into the hotels in my dorm, get free food at subway and quiznos, and another restaurant you might not know. Well, not "all-you-can-eat" free, if it's under 7$ for a meal for the most part, yeah. For example went to subway a short while ago, and got a meatball sub and drink for free. Just hand them your ID and they check this list. They're heavily aware of the situation, so glad they participated. The school's going to try to find other restaurants too, to widen up variety of food and stuff, so yeah. Yo wanted to go to AiPH? Really? For what major exactly? [@Yuna] Yeah they're under code, so until they're up to code, it's shut down for now. [@JC] Yeah, hopefully, but I'm going to fall behind on some classes.

Oh I'm sure it's good, but the idea of eating something that has been in a building full of CO, just weird me out a little... XD So I guess a few good things have come from this, I mean free food isn't that horrible. I can't imagine going with out my sketch book though. I'm trying to do that now, as I sit in the library for another hour... without my sketch book XD |

Man what a turn of unfortonute events. I have no idea if I could manage in that situation. I'd be scrabbling for pretty much everything in my room. I wouldn't be able to choose between a lot of my stuff since I pretty much use it all. ._. Must've been a really long day for you. So they did shut down the dorms for breaking code? Man that stinks. So you'll be stuck in a hotel for a while =/ hope you can find a better, faster wi-fi signal than you're using right now. And it's a good thing that subway and a few other restuarants are letting you guys get meals for free if it's under $7 sice you guys are in a huge pickle. A lot of places wouldn't do that for money reasons, but Subway has a large grossing amount anyways. Well I hope everything get's better for you since you've had a bunch of unfortunate events lately, I'll pray for a quick recovery for this incident for you. |

@Haseo lol, it is Carbon Monoxide as stated in the link DA gave @DA Dude, and I Thought our dorm here is the worst, but at least there's no CO Poisoning here hahaha |D I Can feel you there man, I live in a dorm too here. Some people do retarded stuffs here like kicking the vending machine and the laundry machine.. Hell that pissed me off sometimes since they had to call a repairman over to fix those. But yeah, nothing can be much more annoying than having to bear the consequences caused by others. My deepest condolences man. |

Oh yeah, the house keeper lady made my day though, like she made my bed, changed all the trash bags, even folded some of my clothes laying around when I left. They give you this tiny bottle of shampoo though, like I have thick asian hair, half of it I have to use, lol. And with laundry, some kids are already out of fresh clothes to wear, lol. Pretty sure laundry will be something we have to pay, but I haven't heard anyone dealing with laundry yet. [@Rinnie] lol, that's true, yeah I'm worried about the food in the fridge and stuff. Not sure if the gas is going to affect like my bread and chips and all that stuff, no idea if they're going to inform us on it, but I'd be pissed off if I had to throw it away. Yeah, I have my Mac, thank god for that, or else I'd be dead entirely, but yeah teachers are going to have to like, forgive students who don't have their giant sketch books. I mean seriously, if they think we're going to buy brand new ones just for class, that's bull. [@Haseo] Yeah, like I wanted to bring everything, but my little arms can only carry so much. Saw the dorms today, there's like a warning sign or whatever basically saying it's shut down indefinitely. The dorms are under code, not sure if it'll re-open again once the gas is out, not sure the status of that, but it's under code, and really until it's up to code again they can't re-open, but yeah they can't expect all of us to live in hotels for ever. Cause eventually students are going to buy more and more stuff for their hotel rooms and then moving back is going to be even more difficult with stuff brought back. And yeah, we have good terms with subway cause we already get student discounts with them. They're getting more restaurants to help us out, or trying to, so hopeful that works out. Nothing fast food though like Mcdonalds or Wendy's cause that won't work out obviously... And thanks, I could use anything right now. And yeah, the internet here is the only thing I can use, even with the ethernet cable it's so slow, probably a ton of students from our dorm are like using the crap out of it cause it's not even that fast to begin with. And don't worry I forgive your fail. XD [@REN] Ha dude I haven't seen your face (or avatar(s)?) in a while, good to see YA! And yeah, but like they could've added filters to the windows instead of having like the glass window and numerous floors upon your death. But that's like the least of their worries, but yeah my friend said the school's already going to have a huge fine for something, I forget, but yeah our tuition rates are going up, too, which is bull, so yeah money money money all around, the school's going to use this to screw us over again...

Read this yesterday but my head wasn't still crystal on comprehension... I'd say everything that happened sucks, yeah that's given. Being bothered from a 'routine' is stressful enough yet alone troublesome, you students are already nerved up by the school and then something like this happened... only them to blame for it... erk, I'm still not up for typing anything... catch you on any other time, place, instance... XD one tip, get a new haircut... XD it'll save you more shampoo. lol.
