MPEG format

I have been trying to download songs for a while and listen but I have a problem.
The files I download have this format in their title:
FILE'S NAME.mp3.mpeg
The properties of the song, shows the format as mpeg but when I try to convert it to mp3, the program says the file is damages. No program works with it.
I have a mp3 player and I need the song in mp3 format. What should I do? Where is the problem? why there is both mp3 and mpeg in the title?

Do not "convert" the file to mp3, simply rename it without the ".mpeg" extension.
Your browser should NOT be renaming files, and I have no idea why it would be.
If you're using a download manager or download accelerator, disable that software before downloading.

It looks like you've been a member for a long time, did this just start happening?
Are you using new software?

Renaming the files didn't work. I tried it in the beginning.
I thought about your answer and realized the only change is the program I'm using as the browser. I was using Google Chrome when downloading these files so I tried another browser and the files are just fine.
Thank you very much for solving my problem.
