Since I didn't get the original RP to go off in time, I'm restarting the whole thing. Here it is. A mecha RP with elements from Front Mission and Gundam 00. Ladies and gentlemen, I present: The Plot "Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it." - Santayana For aeons, Man has struggled to rebuild the Eden it lost, hoping to create a world with no sadness or pain, a world where men of all creeds, genders, races and countries may live in harmony. Time and again, Man has failed. And still, Man hopes to one day rediscover its lost paradise. The United World Government of 2070 could well be taken as an extension of this human fasciantion with the concept of "earthly paradise". The successor to the United Nations, the UWG was a coordinated attempt by the world's leaders to establish order and peace throughout the world. After the narrowly-averted disaster that was the "War on Terror" (which ended with the Third Battle of Gaza in 2038, where Euro-American-backed Israeli forces and Russo-Sino-Iranian-backed Palestinian forces nearly came to blows), the new leaders of the "Big Eight"- China, India, Poland, Russia, the United States, Japan, South Africa, and Germany- came together on December 31, 2064, at Reykjavik, Iceland, to draft a constitution for a single worldwide system of governance. For nearly a century, the new world government held together the Earth through a combination of diplomacy, democratic processes, and armed force. During this period of general stability (2076-2285), many breakthroughs in science were achieved- the crowning glories being the rise of nanotechnology and the creation of alternate, renewable sources of energy, such as deuterium-tritium fusion (DTF) reactors, which ran on hydrogen isotopes. However, such stability could not last forever, and in 2287, the UWG broke up- an event known as the "Great Division". In its wake, it left its mark on history; a chain of scientific and economical progress never before seen in human history; a world divided into three realms; the Atlantic Trade Union, the United Assembly of Free Nations, and the Human Advancement Coalition... and a weapon that changed the way wars were fought. This weapon was the so-called "Variable Armor". These 11-to-15-meter-tall war machines formed an integral part of the UWG Peacekeeper Forces and were one of the reasons why there were no major wars fought during that age (aside from the Treaty of Svalbard of 2115, which banned weapons of mass destruction, ordered the confiscation of all WMDs, and created a prohibition on creating WMDs). Created from "Orihalcon", an alloy of aluminum and steel reinforced with carbon nanotubes, these "Variable Armors" combined the speed and agility of a foot soldier with the endurance of a tank. With the DTF Continuous Engine System (DTFCES) finally perfected, the birth of the VA was complete. The VA changed the face of war forever. Every single strategy involving armor and heavy machinery had to be rewritten. Every branch of the armed forces were given new tools to fight VAs (such as the AV-12 "Dragon Slayer" rocket launcher and the "SIEGFRIED" exo-armor for infantry). Old anti-armor tactics such as carpet bombing and sabotage were either discarded or completely rethought. The VA was supposed to make war impossible; instead, it made war even more terrifying. With nations hurriedly scrambling to build arsenals that could stop VAs from wreaking havoc, the specter of conflict loomed ever closer. And now, three nations, full of zeal and ambition, prepare to unleash carnage upon the world and shake the very foundations of the earth. ****************** A world of towering spires of steel and circuitry..... A world where great titans, born in the forges of wrath and cooled with the blood of thousands, walk amongst men.... A world where steel, fire and blood are the price humans pay for freedom..... This is the legacy of Mankind. The Rules GENERAL RULES: 1. Read the RP Guide if you haven't done so already. 2. No God-Modding, Auto-kills, or Character-jacking. 3. There is a limit of 3 characters per person. These characters can be in any of the three factions. You have no limit on the number of minor characters you can create, but please try to keep track of them. 4. The Novel format of RP is encouraged, but not required. 5. Try not to group together in one faction (Atlantic Trade Union, United Assembly of Free Nations, Human Advancement Coalition); try to spread out evenly. We can't do this RP if were all HACcers or ATUnists. 6. You can (GASP!) defect from your chosen side. But try to do that in the middle of the story and not from the beginning. If you start out as someone who has switched his/her side, then say so in your bio. PM me in case you want to switch sides. 7. Have an idea or a complaint? PM me. 8. If, by some chance, you'll be unable to post for an extended period of time, tell me. MECH ("VARIABLE ARMOR") RULES: 1. You can create your own VA. Pictures are highly encouraged. 2. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WHATSOEVER, create a super-powerful or invincible VA. This includes putting special programs (I.E: Zero System, Trans-Am) that can render your unit super-powerful, or building an XBOX HUEG Armor that would probably collapse under its own weight (ex: the Destroy Gundam from Gundam SEED Destiny) or anything that defies all known laws of physics (ex: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann [no offense, TTGL fans]). 3. You may change your VA during the story. If you decide to do so, make sure to show how exactly you got your new VA. 4. In creating a VA, we'll have to stick to a certain limit in terms of power to maintain realism. As such, borderline Super Robots (EX: Front Mission 3's Genie Arm) are allowed, but must sacrifice something (i.e: frame stability, ammo capacity, pilot's mental health) in order to stay realistic. SHIP RULES 1. All rules under "Mech Rules" apply. 2. You may have any number of minor characters as crew members, provided the ship can support them. The Factions ATLANTIC TRADE UNION Composed of the United States, Canada, the Low Countries, France, Yugoslavia, South Africa, and most of North and South America, the Atlantic Trade Union is based on the principles of free trade and cooperation with allied countries. Their capital is Washington, D.C., while their prime VA producer, Cerberus Corporation, has its HQ in Nevada, with a branch in Alsace, France. Their currency is the Atlantic Dollar. The President of the United States, David Michael Anderson, is the head of the ATU. Under his rule, the ATU has become the leader in cybernetic technology and VA development. However, his excessive focus on technological and economical progress to the detriment of social welfare programs has won him few fans among the working classes. ATU Armors rely on their advanced technology and powerful weapons to win the battle. Many of their elite units serve as test beds for new technologies, such as cloaking devices or plasma weapons. The ATU does not only rely on the benefits of their advanced technology: they have an excellent intelligence agency as well. The AIA, or Atlantic Intelligence Agency, succeeded the FBI and CIA as the central keeper of the nation's most important secrets. With the rise of the two other superstates, the UAFN and the HAC, the AIA has adopted a more aggressive role, supporting popular uprisings in HAC territory and stealing crucial HAC state secrets. RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER NATIONS The ATU and UAFN are currently in a mutual non-aggression pact, with the main form of competition being VA research and development. On the other hand, the HAC and the ATU are at war with each other, with neither side showing any sign of relenting soon. Several cells of the AIA are active in the HAC, where they abet local insurgent/paramilitary elements. MASS PRODUCTION UNITS: (From left to right: ATL-051 "Sentinel": ATL-053 "Maverick": ATL-056 "Warhawk") ******************************* HUMAN ADVANCEMENT COALITION Made up of Russia, Korea, China, Japan, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and part of Western Africa and East Europe, the Human Advancement Coalition is dedicated to the elimination of the gap between rich and poor. They believe that peace can only be achieved through fair and equal distribution of resources. Their capital is Beijing, China, and their prime VA manufacturer is Muramasa Steel, located in Okinawa, Japan with branches in Russia and the Middle East. Their currency is called the Eurasian Dollar. The HAC's leader is Alexander Irminov. He leads the Grand Assembly, which is composed of representatives from all HAC countries. Outwardly, the HAC is highly stable: however, it is plagued from inside by terrorist organizations and armed warlords, especially in the Middle East and North Asia. HAC Armors are a mix of high-speed assault units and slow, heavily armed and armored ranged units. Their Armors are all made to fight in difficult terrain, such as deserts, swamps, or mountains. RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER NATIONS Unbeknownst to the ATU, the HAC are allied with the UAFN. What the goals of this alliance are remains to be seen. The HAC is continually plagued by terrorist organizations. Some are merely bands of armed thugs: others are highly dangerous paramilitary organizations. Whether they are sponsored by oligarchs who disapprove of the HAC's socialist policies or by AIA agents, they are an ever-present threat to the stability of the HAC. Their capital is the old capital of the UWG: Reykjavik, Iceland. Vulcan Industries, their primary VA producer, is located in Toledo, Spain. Their currency is the UAFN Euro- hardly a surprise since the UAFN has many former European Union states. The UAFN is led by the Free Parliament, with representatives from all over the UAFN as its body. At its head is Prime Minister Randall Vinburg. UAFN Armors are mostly balanced, with equally strong weapons and armor. Their technology has allowed them to engage in direct competition with the ATU in the race to create the most advanced VAs. Due to their proximity to the headquarters of the UWG, the UAFN possesses a high number of pre-Division Armors. However, most of these have been upgraded to modern standards. RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER NATIONS As stated before, the UAFN has a pact of mutual non-aggression with the ATU: however, they have also formed an alliance with the HAC, promising military and scientific aid in return for help with suspected ATU attacks on their territory. Where this alliance goes will be revealed with time. ALLEGIANCE: Choose between the Atlantic Trade Union, the United Assembly of Free Nations, or the Human Advancement Coalition. GENDER: Male/female/something else altogether? AGE: Yes, you can look somewhat younger than your real age. Regular nanomachine inoculations (think vaccines that rejuvenate your body cells) can do that. RANK: Military rank (Colonel, Lt. Colonel, Private 1st Class, etc.) APPEARANCE: Either a short paragraph about your character or a picture. SKILLS: Things your character can do which may prove helpful on the battlefield. (3-4 skill limit) BIO: Your character's bio. No "amnesiac heroes" or "mysterious drifters" here, please. VARIABLE ARMOR NAME: If your VA is one-of-a-kind, type its name here. Otherwise, just use its model designation. APPEARANCE: Same deal as with your character. TYPE: Your VA's specialty, whether it be close-range combat, heavy weaponry, assault, close combat or ranged combat. STATS: These range from A (excellent) to F (poor). If you intend to pilot a custom mech, you will be given 40 points to spend on these stats. (PM me with a good reason if you wish to have more points.) The scale is as follows: A= 10 points B= 8 points C= 4 points D= 2 points E= 1 point F= 0 points (All stats start at F unless modified.) > Strength- The raw power of your VA. > Firepower- How much weaponry your VA carries. The higher this is, the lower your Speed and Agility will be. Weaponry may also affect Energy Efficiency, Accuracy and Cooling. > Speed- How fast your VA can go. > Agility- How quickly your VA can respond to commands. > Armor- How much armor your VA carries. The higher this is, the lower your Speed and Agility will be. > Energy Efficiency: Affects the amount of fuel needed to keep your VA in fighting shape. > Cooling: Affects the amount of heat your VA can tolerate before it overheats and shuts down. The following 3 stats are calculated depending on your Mech's weapon specialty (Ranged, Melee, or Multi-Specialist): > Accuracy- How well your VA can hit a target. (Ranged Mechs only) > Skill- How well your VA can wield its chosen weapons. Equal to Accuracy/Versatility for ranged fighters. (Melee Mechs only) > Versatility- How well your VA can handle 2 or more types of weapons. Equal to Accuracy/Skill. (Multi-Specialist Mechs only) ARSENAL: Your VA's weapons. EQUIPMENT: Under this goes all details about your VA's engine, operating system, extra thrusters, etc. BIO: If you are piloting a mass-production VA, this is no longer required. However, if you have a custom/unique VA, you must fill this up. SHIP (Note 1: A personal ship is optional. If you choose not to have a ship, then you can either be on board a generic ship, or join the crew of another player. Ask permission from other players first if you want to join their crew.) (Note 2: If you wish to have a personal ship, then you have to create a second character, who will function as the ship's captain.) NAME: Your ship's name. DESCRIPTION: Same deal as with your VA. BIO: Born of a British father and a Filipino mother in 2297, Joshua Lymann spent his childhood in Manila reading about Variable Armors and the daring feats of their pilots, like the Philippine Armed Forces' valiant "Sun Diamonds". Little did he know that he would someday follow in their footsteps and become a VA pilot for the HAC. Although his parents wanted him to take up a civilian job, Joshua decided to enroll in the Philippine Military Academy at the age of 16, after finishing high school. Four years later, in 2316, he would graduate and go on to finish five years later at the prestigious Villamor Aerospace Academy (formerly Villamor Airbase), achieving his dream of becoming a VA pilot. Two years later, he was invited to join the HAC Joint Armed Forces- a chance he quickly accepted. Now, he is part of the Philippine contingent of the Joint Armed Forces, with his very own VA- and he intends to give his country the reputation it deserves. These guns are meant for close-range combat and suffer from reduced accuracy at farther ranges. (16 shots) > MG-90 "Sykranos" anti-VA rifles (x2): Located on the VA's back, these guns fire orihalcon-tipped rounds that pierce enemy armor. As with the Hornet Stingers, the Zophiel can double-wield these weapons, further increasing the damage it does with them. The bullets for this weapon are specially rifled to increase range, giving it the range needed to be effective. In order to conserve ammo, there is no full-auto switch on the gun. Rather, there is an option to fire five-shot bursts. (40 shots) > RK-55 "Epicenter" micromissile launchers (x4): Mounted on the VA's shoulders, these rockets deal moderate damage to armored targets. Best used against lightly-armored targets or as a distraction. (12 missiles) > KN-02 "Prog Slicer" combat machete (x2): Seldom used by the Zophiel, these two melee weapons are tucked away in the Zophiel's shins. Used to clear obstacles or as a last option when in close combat. > SG-100 "Skull Splitter" impact shotguns (x2): Attached to the Zophiel's forearms, these shotguns fire orihalcon balls that punch into enemy armor and crush circuitry. They can only be used at melee range. (7 shots) EQUIPMENT: > ARMOR: Orihalcon Armor- Standard VA armor. > ENGINE: DTFCES-A Reactor- Standard DTFCES reactor slightly modified for greater energy efficiency and cooling ability. > SHIELD: GRD-230 Reactive Shield- Mounted on the left arm of the VA, this shield can swing into a front position if needed. > OS: OpSys ALPHA v1.71- Standard OS for VAs, slightly modified with target tracker programs and a weapons option ("QuickDraw") screen. > THRUSTERS: The Zophiel uses a propulsion system based on the Dai-Tengu's thrusters. The Zophiel uses it to get away from an enemy or get in closer for optimum use of the Hornet Stingers. BIO: Using the technology that created the HA-37 Dai-Tengu and the HA-34 Tovarisch, the Muramasa Corporation created a high-end mecha known as the "Zophiel". Its armor and weaponry were a considerable step-up from the original: however, this came at the expense of speed and energy consumption. Joshua volunteered to pilot this VA as part of a joint research program between the HAC and the UAFN. So far, he has found little trouble with the VA: however, as all tests done have been in simulations, it remains to be seen whether the Zophiel has what it takes to survive. SHIP NAME: HACS-11503 "Elysia" APPEARANCE: (REFERENCE: Hiriyukai- Super Robot Wars) TYPE: Battleship STATS: (TOTAL 30 pts) FPW- B- SPD- C- AGI- C+ ARM- B EFF- C CLG- C ARSENAL: > ML-112 "Inazuma" anti-armor missile launchers (12x)- These missiles are most effective against armored targets. > HG-100 "Hailstorm" IGWS vulcan guns (20x)- Used mainly to destroy aircraft or light VAs, or attack less-armored buildings. > HG-104 "Chudovisch" ("Monster") 175mm cannons (10x)- These cannons are used to demolish heavily armored targets, such as fortified positions or heavy VAs. EQUIPMENT: > ARMOR: Orihalcon plating makes up the majority of the Elysia's armor. The small amount of ceramic used is found in the insides of the thrusters and engine room, to prevent the disastrous effects of overheating. > ENGINE: Four DTFCES engines power the Elysia. These engines are much bigger than the ones used by VAs. >THRUSTERS: The Elysia uses powerful C-35 thursters to propel itself, and smaller C-33 thrusters to land. > RADAR, CHAFF LAUNCHERS, SONAR, SPOTLIGHTS, LANDING GEAR: Standard ship equipment. BIO: The Elysia is a modern marvel of technology. Bigger than 21st-century "aircraft carriers", it is also armed to the teeth with the best weapons, not to mention amphibious capabilities. And this ship is only a normal cruiser. But then again, this is the 24th Century, so this kind of ship is pretty much in normal use. (21st Century battleships everywhere can breathe a sigh of relief now.) Natasha is thought of as a highly capable commander, capable of mixing sternness and motherly concern in commanding her subordinates. Not recommended for use against other VAs. MA-FT Ignis Cestus(works with the DTFCES-HEAT Thermal Engine System) - This weapon is basically integrated with the left hand. This weapon gathers waste heat from the engine and raises the temperature of the hand unit, which is built to accomodate such high temperatures. The result is a formidable melee weapon capable of melting through most VA armor. This weapon, however, needs a lot of heat to operate at its optimum. Baselard Hi-Impact Piston System - This weapon is built in on the right forearm, and is the basic melee weapon of the Sentinel Cathaior Custom. It is basically made up of two cylinders that taper out to pointed ends, and these points come out from two holes on the forearm armor at very high speeds, capable of punching through thick armor. EQUIPMENT: Engine - DTFCES-HEAT Thermal Engine System The engine is composed by two parts - the engine, and the heat sink. The engine is tweaked to give out 15% more waste heat, which the heat sink gathers and distributes to various parts of the VA to avoid a catastrophic overheat. The reason for increasing waste heat output will be discussed later on. Thrusters - similar to mass produced ATL-052s, but with higher output thanks to the DTFCES-HEAT engine system. OS - The operating system is custom-made by Alcott, having taken Computer Science at the RMC. The OS is designed to reduce load and processing times and make movements more articulate and smoother. Custom - Ignis Joints System (works with the DTFCES-HEAT Thermal Engine System) The Sentinel Cathaior Custom is equipped with a different joint system that "softens" up when high temperatures are reached. This would increase agility and maneuverability, but as it is yet an experimental system there is the potential for the joints to overly soften, leaving the VA unable to function. Heat sinks near the joints are applied to balance out the problem. Custom - Moving Frame The armor plating and framework are modified to be able to move, sacrificing armor for movement. BIO: Unsatisfied with the current desing and performance of the stadard ATL-052 Sentinel, LCdr Alcott proposed a design for a new improvement of the mass-production VA. His design increased the speed and maneuverability of the unit, along with such various additions. However, his design has considerably lower firepower and armor levels compared to the original design. His design had caught the interest of a few engineers, and his design was given approval. The ATL-052SC Sentinel Cathaoir Custom was one of the two modifications approved and mass-produced. Several of the initial VAs were scrapped because of problems presented by the DTFCES-HEAT Thermal Engine System and Ignis Joint System, but the current batch had considerable stability. PGI Reactor: Prototype reactor that uses gravitational impulses (GI) to help in manuevering the VA. PHROS: Prototype OS that allows the VA to respond to pilots commands as soon as they are made. FSBTS-08: Serial produced thruster system that uses 13 ringed thrusters placed at the back of the VA to generate forward momentum. PMT-13: Prototype thruster system primarily responsible for manouvering the VA. PSS, Nightshroud: Protype stealth system that confers the VA almost total invisibility at night and limited invisibility at day. The time it can be used is limited as the reactors can't dissipate heat without breaking the stealth. BIO: Prototype Close-Combat Variable Armor built by in Finland, this is the thirteenth model and only that has actually been used on a battlefield. The various prototype equipment and weapons it carries have given it a unbelievable speed and agility, but at the expense of armor and long-range firepower. Out of the systems this VA carries only the AIR-13 railgun and FSBTS-08 thrusters are used in other VA's, this gives it an advantage in combat as the enemy does not know the VA'c capabilities. The accuracy of these guns is bad but they saturate the air with high-velocity rounds. EQUIPMENT: High-grade Twin DTF Reactors, Basic manouvering thrusters, Nightveil plating, makes the ship almost invisible to most radars BIO: This ship was designed to fulfill a singular purpose, fast and safe delivery of VA's into the battlefield. Especially at night when the ship is almost invisible to visual scanners due to it's plating. Those swords emit a high amout of energy which can cause massive damage to a mechs armor if their defense level is not B or above. The SI uses no guns. EQUIPMENT: The SI has standard issue equipment thats just been modified to make it run faster. It has to extra boosters on it's back that increases it's already high top speed. BIO: Only one made in all. The Sword Impulse is a Va designed for rush attacks It's speed compensates for its low energy efficiency and fire power. Given to Ryou when he first joined the HAC. He had it in storage for a while, until he lost his left eye. Ryou is the only one that ever piloted the SI. SHIP The SI doesn't have a ship. The SI moves over water using it's speed and thrusters. For the usage of this VA, the HAC needed someone who had a steady hand yet flexible to carry out the full potential of Sagittarius. Specializing in Long Range combat, it is usually found a good distance from the true battlefield. With minimal armor, it is not suited for direct confrontations but with the daggers in its arsenal, it can still hold its zone.

OK, I'm starting the RP. We'll start off with a little battle in the Gobi Desert, if that's fine with you. [HAC Base, Shenzhen, China. 0530 hrs] The HAC base in Shenzhen was nothing more than a glorified rest stop, a place for soldiers from the farther reaches of the Human Advancement Coalition to take a breather or two in between missions and endless briefings on the situation. Some of them took to the city, mingling and enjoying the nightlife: others just slept. First Lieutenant Joshua Lymann turned over on his back, uttering a snort in his sleep. He had just went through another mission of suppressing "troublesome elements" in the northern provinces. Now, he was catching up on much-needed sack time. An alarm sounded, breaking the morning silence. Joshua flipped over, rubbing his eyes. "Th' hell...? What d'they want? Jeez, can't a guy get some sleep around here?" Nonetheless, he stood up, his muscles complaining as began a series of stretches in an attempt to wake himself up. ****** [Elysia Bridge. 0541 HRS] Joshua, now in full flight gear, sped toward the bridge. Joshua took the time to sneak into formation, just before the woman turned around. "We have a mission." As she turned on her heel, her badge flashed in the flourescent light. White letters on a black laminated field spelled out her name: ENSIGN NATASHA EISENSTEIN. Natasha pointed to a holographic map, pointing out a flashing red point. "We have reports of insurgent activity here in the Gobi Desert." A satellite-generated picture of several men in exosuits accompanying a convoy of VAs appeared. "These people are the Mongolian National Front, a group of right-wing thugs. They've been pretty active recently, and now we've got them on our hands." She turned the projector off. "Intelligence tells me they are well-equipped, with exosuits and even a few VAs, all customized Tovs[1]. So I don't think I need to tell you twice: Don't get cocky and try to win a medal. If you survive, I will make sure you never set foot in this ship again." She tapped her foot impatiently. "Understood?" "Ma'am, yes ma'am!" chorused the five pilots. "Now go, get ready. We take off in 0605." One by one, the pilots went out. "So, we're going to battle, huh." Joshua said to one of the pilots, a Japanese woman of around 32. The tag on her chest read SGT MARIKO IMONOYAMA. "Yup." Mariko said. "Hey, maybe you'll get to try out that VA of yours. I'm sure it'll kick serious ass!" "It better," a grim-faced Ukrainian beside her growled. Like the others, his tag bore a name: DIMITRI YUSCHENKO. "I'm not fighting beside a glorified death trap, just 'cos it's a 'super-advanced prototype'." I share your sentiments, Dimitri, Joshua thought. *************************** [Gobi Desert, Mongolia. 0620 HRS] The Elysia hovered over the sands of the Gobi, blotting out the sun with its gargantuan body. Slowly, it lowered itself onto the dunes, afterburners glowing a bright blue. Small dust devils whipped and twisted as the gigantic ship came to a halt on the sand. Hatches on the ship popped open with hisses, sending plumes of smoke into the air. From within, several VAs stepped out, sand shifting across the broadness of their feet. One by one, the pilots sounded off. [Anatoly Savichev, ready and waiting.] The tovering figure of the Tovarisch lumbered into the open, the long belt of bullets at its hip jangling as it walked. [Kwang Shen-qi, launching.] From a hatch on the roof, a slim, aerodynamic figure shot into the air and came to a hovering stop near the ship. [Mariko Imonoyama, launching!] Another hatch opened, with a similar object flying up into the sky. [Dimitri Yuschenko, moving out.] The biggest hatch opened, and a four-footed machine lumbered out. Its giant cannon raised and lowered itself, almost as though it were sniffing the air. [Joshua Lymann, moving out.] A hatch opened, and a second later, a blue and yellow VA stepped out, unholstering a pair of pistols. [Radar says the bandits are nearby.] Natasha's voice came from the comlink. Her words had a cool, professio/nal edge to them. [Keep your eyes peeled.] One by one, the VAs moved into the desert, hands at their weapons. The two Dai-Tengus flew in front, sweeping the area with their powerful sensors. [Anything yet?] Anatoly's soft soprano voice echoed on the comlinks. [Nope.] Kwang's voice was deeper and rougher, with a sound like rustling leaves in it. [Don't see anything.] Mariko said. [It's as barren as a- Wait! I think I see something!] At once, a three-camera view popped up on the other VAs' screens. There it was! A convoy of trucks with three Tovs guarding them. They'd found the MNF troops! [Red Miko to Home One, Red Miko to Home One, come in,] Mariko spoke into the comlink, using the code name for the Elysia. [Home One to Red Miko, copy that. State your situation.] Natasha replied. [Red Miko to Home One, enemies spotted, 35 degrees north-by-northwest. Permission to engage.] [Permission granted. Stand by for orders.] [Copy that. Relaying map.] The Dai-Tengu's OS took a few seconds to digest the data and send it to the Elysia. [Position acquired,] Natasha responded. The facts had been laid in front of her: now, it was time to coordinate the attack. [Alright, Behemoth, move into the shade of that dune. Tovarischi, escort the 'moth there. Dai- Tengu, Zophiel, draw them into range. I'll be sending the exos to aid you in a while.] Natasha delivered the orders one after the other, like a coach directing the players on her team. [Initiate attack on my command.] The two Dai-Tengus flew off, with the Zophiel running behind. The Behemoth stood behind the dune's crest, its cannon at the ready, safe and secure in the fact that the Tov beside him would do his best to cover his flanks. And all the while, the caravan came nearer and nearer. They would succeed, or they would die. ********************** Meanwhile... "Say, Taharad," a soldier in a tan exosuit remarked, "what exactly are we supposed to be doing here?" The plates of his armor flexed as he gestured with his arm, taking in the whole landscape. "Simple." His companion, a rough-shaven man clad in loose riding robes, answered back. "We'll be the lure for the HAC troops. Once we have them, we pull back, then have the main force wipe them out, take their stuff, and loot their VAs for parts." "Harsh," his companion remarked. "That's how war works, Kadim," Taharad said. "It's pretty brutal, but that's pretty much reality for you." He cracked his knuckles, unslinging the AK-447[2] Anti-Materiel Rifle that hung over his shoulder. "We need to remind them that the Forest Fairy Army will not stop until we find justice." ****************************** Meanwhile.... [We're near the caravan,] Mariko said. [All we have to do is get their attention, relay the coordinates to Dimitri, and then sit back and watch the fireworks.] The three VAs drew closer to the caravan. Two Tovarischi stood guard, rifles in hands. But something was different about them. On both of them, two massive missile launchers were mounted on the points where the humongous drum of bullets would be on a normal Tov. [Custom Tovs. ATU engineering from the looks of it,] Kwang said. [How do you know?] Joshua responded. [I know my ATU mechs. Those are VRK-112s, "Liberator Missiles", mounted on ATU Warhawks.] [Then they pack a hefty punch. Gotta be ca- oh shoot, they're getting nearer. Sun and Stars to Home One, Sun and Stars to Home One, enemies apporaching.] Joshua spoke into the comlink, hoping Natasha could hear. [Home One copy, prepare to engage.] Joshua relayed the command to the rest of the team. The string of trucks, men and mechs came nearer. Joshua tapped the touchscreen in his cockpit, activating a QuickDraw command: "QUICKDRAW_CMD:DRAW_LR50-A 'HORNET STINGER'." The two pistols popped out of their holsters, and Joshua grabbed them, flicking the safety off. The two Dai-Tengus sank to the ground, hovering only inches above the sand. [On my command.] Natasha's voice came in over the link. [Five. Four.] The caravan came closer. [Three. Two.] It was almost behind the dune now. [Go.] That was enough. With a battle cry, the three mechs jumped out, prompting a small panic among the rebels. The two Dai-Tengus fired their railcannons, blasting the supply trucks apart in gouts of blue light. Joshua aimed at the first Tov, targeting the rockets. He squeezed off two shots, then boosted away as the Tov fired back with its AKV-17. Landing with a bump, he charged forward, firing. The Tov's launchers went up, firing two missiles. Joshua dodged them, boosting to avoid the shockwave. He landed near the Tov, firing a shot that blasted the rifle arm in the shoulder joint. It fell off with a metallic groan, landing in a heap next to its owner. The Tov staggered back, and Joshua fired a salvo of shots, blasting the head and chest of the Tov, killing the pilot and puncturing the DTFCES engine. It fell over, exploding in a blizzard of metallic debris. [Tango down,] Joshua signaled. He turned about, seeing the Dai-Tengus picking off the exosuits with controlled bursts from their vulcans. Suddenly, a voice crackled on the comlink. [Oy, Joshua! Have you got the caravan?] Dimitri's deep voice rumbled over the speaker. [Yup. You ready to fire?] [Unfortunately-] A series of shots rang out from the comlink, the trademark sound of the Tovarisch's nose-mounted vulcan gun[3] firing. [What the hell-] Joshua said. Was that Anatoly firing the vulcan? Why? Could it be an ambush? [We're under attack,] Dimitri said, confirming Joshua's suspicion. [Twelve exos. All stealthed. Didn't see them till they came up to us. One of them got my 'moth's foot.] Joshua hissed. How the hell did those exos get so close? A chill shot through his spine as the answer revealed itself. AIA agents! They'd have access to that sort of tech! I have to tell Natasha ab- There was a loud whooshing sound, followed by a bang. Joshua looked out to see Kwang's Dai-Tengu fall, its wings falling apart in a storm of black dust. "NO!" he tried to scream, but had not the time to do so. The saber is very dangerous to the user because it is jacked directly into the power grid. The brass took interest in his new designs and continued to fund his project as he upgraded his mech and moved up through the ranks. He was transferred to Italy (A blessing. Rictus loves Italian food.) after he made lieutenant, and his new drive and thrust systems were installed shortly thereafter. Deciding on the former, he pressed the accelerator to the floor, screaming out of the parking lot. Seventeen minutes later, he stalked into the conference room, breathless. "Apologies for my lateness, sir. I was engaged and under the impression that I had two more days to be as such." Mezzolito glared at him, but responded in a thick Italian accent. "Excused. It was I that approved your leave, and I am responsible for breaking it. However, you are needed. Intelligence suggests that Mongolian guerrilla forces are on the move. We want you to seek out a convoy and possibly take it out. You are to maintain contact at all times on HFE lock channels. Your nav computer has been programmed already. Anubis has been transported to bay 3, where a single-mech shuttle is waiting. You're dismissed." Rictus flicked his wrist, and his drive key was suddenly in his hand. "I'd like a bonus, if you would." "It's only fair," Mezzolito replied solemnly with a nod, no trace of anger in his voice. The man believed in honor, and he had broken what was effectively a promise. Rictus nodded and turned, striding out the door. He made his way down the hall and into an elevator, which took him down to ground level. He walked through the lobby and out of a side door, where a uniformed soldier waited with an open truck. Rictus got in and nodded, and the soldier drove him out to bay 3. The shuttle's engines were already whistling, waiting for the signal to roar. Anubis was standing behind the shuttle because nobody could pilot it into the shuttle's hold. Rictus climbed into the cockpit and placed his hand on a panel, not bothering to close the hatch. Anubis's basic motor functions activated, moving him slowly into the hold. Rictus couldn't help but smile as his fingers twitched. Shortened vacation or not, he couldn't wait to fully activate Anubis again. After Anubis was secure, Rictus made his way to the shuttle cockpit and settled into the chair next to the pilot. "So, where are we- No... But that's the middle of nowhere!" He'd leaned forward and caught sight of the map. Mongolia, Gobi Desert, 0600 hours The shuttle's equipment picked up the caravan's presence from a couple of miles away, and Rictus climbed back into his beloved armor. "Alright, buddy. Here we go." He pulled out his key once more and placed it in the reader. The key's thumbpad scanned his fingerprint, and the cabin glowed to life. "I'll send a retrieval signal when I'm ready for pickup." He closed the cockpit, which locked with a hiss as the air seal engaged. HUDs and panels appeared everywhere as backlights turned on and the machinery moved around him. "Starting drive system." There was a thud, followed by a low humming that increased rapidly in pitch until it was a whistle. "Sequence complete. Running motor function auto-check. Powering thrust system." Another whine joined the first, and a display told Rictus that all motor systems were functioning. "Alright. Drop zone in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, drop!" The floor of the shuttle opened, and the great black Anubis fell toward the earth, a god from an age long past. "Ala di Demonio! Activate!" Thrusters on the armor's back and legs flared into life, and Anubis slowed and hovered about six stories off the ground. He slowly lowered himself to skim just above the sand. "Thermal and radar up. Channel to base open. Flying Dog to command: I've come into contact with the target. Following to destination. Confirm?" A female voice came over the radio. "Green light, flying dog. Clear to follow target." And that's exactly what Rictus did, until all hell broke loose. As soon as the firefight started, Rictus distanced himself to watch and wait for the firefight to end.

All members of the Dominus Nox including the VA pilots have callsigns. Finland airspace, 2100 hours local Fenris had been woken up from his sleep by a call drom the captain of Dominus Nox. He had finsihed a training where he had stayed awake for 48 hours and had been sleeping for 5 hours. His presence had been requested at the bridge. Still a little sleepy he arrived at the bridge. Fenris: You wanted to see me big one? Odin: Yes, we have received our first mission, where the Black Wolf will be used in real battlefield conditions, we are departing immediately expected time of arrival 0600 hours local time. Place, Gobi desert. Fenris: Finally, a change to try it for real. What will we be doing? Odin: We will wait at 25000 feet and observe the situation at the ground if needed we will deploy you to assist HAC troops against rebel troops. Fenris: How we can assist quickly of we are ar that height? You don't mean? Odin: Yes, we eill be using the Hammer of God deployment strategy. Fenris: This is getting interesting, I'll go and make checks for my VA and the 'Hammer', with your permission of course. Odin: Permission granted, now get out of here. Fenris: Will do boss. Fenris went to the cargo bay where people were already checking his VA. But although everything would be triple checked he also wanted to make his own check to the VA. He had plenty of time, which was good as this would take a while. Mongolia, Gobi Desert, 0545 hours local Odin: we have arrived make yourself ready for the drop, just in case. Fenris: Way ahead of you, I'm ready for the drop. Odin: Eager aren't you? Fenris: Of course, you don't get moment like this everyday. Odin: We will monitor the situation and inform you if we need to drop you there. Mongolia, Gobi Desert, 0630 hours The waiting was the worst part of this Fenris thought, there was nothing to... His train of thought was interrupted by an alarm sounding through the ship. Odin: Several enemy VAs and stealth suits have engaged the HAC task force we are sending you to assist. You are allowed to use all systems to their maximum capability. Give them hell soldier. Fenris: Aye aye, captain! Odin: Brace for dive! The Dominus Nox started diving towards the ground at incredible speed at 15000 feet the 'Hammer' was released. The Hammer was a pod consisting of several layers of armor between each was impact absorbing layer, these protected the VA inside from the heat and from the impact when the pod hit the ground, there also were several retro thrusters that received commands from the Nox and guided it toward target. Loki: Aiming for the Tovarisch. Odin: Impact in three... two... one... The shockwave of the impact send the sand flying in a huge cloud providing some measure of cover for the two VAs targeted by the opposing Tovarisch. Fenris noted that although one of the VAs was a mass-produced Dai-Tengu the other was customised VA of unknown designation. Immediately after the pod opened Fenris surged towards the Tovarisch slicing of one of the missile launchers and one of the Tovarisch's legs with Yosamu before smashing it in the upper torso with Aegis causing it to start falling backwards. The OS was working beautifully responding to his command as he made them giving him a sense of control unlike any other VA. Activating the Nightshroud he then started moving towards the Behemoth surrounded by exoskeleton suits, he knew that while the flickering effect caused by the nightshroud while moving was visible during day, the exo-armored soldiers wouldn't propably notice it before it was too late.

[HAC Indonesia Base] Glenn was sitting on the shoulder of Sagittarius as he was looking out to sea. The cool ocean breeze blew across base grounds. Beside his VA, the observation tower stood. It was the most convenient way to get alerts quickly without getting in his mech. Glenn: Ah... Now this is the life... A lot of battles have went by this past month that I didn't even get some rest. It's nice to have times like this. A sigh was heard from the tower. Glenn looked sidewards and saw a soldier staring at into the horizon, leaning on the rail ways. Glenn: Something wrong? Soldier: O-Oh, nothing sir! It's just kind of boring that we got stationed in a boring place like this. Glenn: Now, now, it maybe boring but a base is a base. Nobody might think it but this is a perfect entry point for the enemy. With all the water, it would be easy for them to hide and hard for us to attack. Suddenly, a siren went off the base loudly. Soldiers quickly ran towards their stations, including the soldier that was on the tower. Glenn: I guess we jinxed it... Well, time to get to work...

I have a couple questions before I start actually posting. This question stands to yet be answered: DO FULL MELEE MECHS NEED ACCURACY? If not then i need to change my stats. Also: Me and Dream-Eater have already posted on the old thread should we bring that conflict to this thread or start anew?

Three ATU Trucks are carrying weapons that we wanted for a long time so we want you to retrive one of the wepons and destory the others. Get rid of all witness Yuki move out in 1 hour. The Trucks are going to leave for Paris France. YES SIR Haro tell the crew to set up Eve and move the ship to a hault. Yes Genaral. 10min later... General Mono The Eve is ready the time for you to arrive to Paris is 30 mins you will have alot of energy to work with so what weapons will you be carrying today. Give me the SX-10 and the SX-37 i shouldn't be long. Make positive that if i not return in 3 hours send for someone for me I understand General. In human terms, you can compare its power like firing a .50 magnum to another human. Yeah, you can easily explode a VA's head with a single shot from this thing. Its hard recoil is reduced with Hope's flexible frame. The revolvers also serve as giant Tonfas with retractable Orihalcon blades. Very useful in melee combat, especially if combined with the revolvers shooting. Cerberus BFG-00 "Hidden Stopper" - Hidden autocannons mounted on the forearms. Quite small and slim, but still packs a punch. Cerberus Bombs - Handy grenades with awesome destruction power. Is it a powerful grenade? Or is it a chaff? Is it flashbang or napalm? Or even a remote controlled explosive? You'll never know what you might get... (New weapon) Multi Purpose Weapon (MPW) Sleipnir 9900 (the sword thing in the VA pic) ATU's new weapon that was finished last week and is scheduled to be tested by Hope moments before the story began. Sleipnir is an evolution of custom weapons that functions as a sword, shield, sniper, and beam launcher, all in one. It is planned to be the standard arsenal for all of ATU's VAs. Its primary mode is a forearm mounted orihalcon sword (Discalibur), layered with DTF particles that can also function as a beam sword. It's able to change into launcher form (Heavensray) that fires high pressured DTF plasma, or expand to a shield form (White Slider) that functions also as a beam shield. By retracting the blades, Sleipnir can change to the sniper form (Boosted Rifle), that is very useful in sniping and long range combat (Show Stopper) (Sleipnir Boosted Rifle mode) EQUIPMENT (3 unique features, the rest are normal): - OS: "HOPE" The world's first "New Generation" OS, hosting an extremely user friendly feature and equipment. With a multi purpose dual stick and pedal, anyone can pilot Hope even if it's their first time inside the cockpit. This simplicity itself turns Hope into a very hard to please VA: Anyone -even a 10 year old, given that their feet and hands are able to reach the controllers- can pilot it with an average performance, but no one can bring out its best, in exception of Ray Almor. - Flexible Frame: "OCTOPUS" Hope's body is not made of bulky hard metal. Beneath the exterior metal skin lies a very flexible frame with hundreds of thousands of soft joints made of the finest orihalcon, resembling a giant flexible whip. Due to its frame construction, Hope virtually doesn't have any hard strength and is equipped with only a few layer of armors, but it boasts the ultimate flexibility. This very flexibility also grants it superior speed without the need to use thrusters. - Cerberus FW-00 Wing Binder Alpha An advanced wing binder that allows greater maneuverability in air and underwater. It makes Hope a superior mech in air combat and enables it to engage in underwater fights. BIO: The embodiment of "Hope" when your side is losing in a hopeless battle. Hope is the world's first "New Generation" mech created by ATU 20 years ago, and also the first VA to employ beam weaponry. Its first pilot was Ray Almor, the best VA pilot in the whole world and the only one that can bring out the true potential of Hope. Ray dissappeared without notice 5 years ago, leaving Hope to be piloted by other pilots. The problem is, everyone can't pilot Hope as good as Ray did. Hope is best known as the "White Devil", a nickname given to it by HAC since Ray was totally undefeated and untouchable with Hope, sweeping the battlefield clean and instilling fear into the enemies' heart. Things are tough for this 20 year old Devil. Even though it's updated with the latest technology and still boasts superiority in every field of combat, it still is consumed by its old age, and no one is stupid enough to pilot the ATU's treasure that they can't handle perfectly and goes to the battlefield only to get it destroyed. 3 years after Ray's dissappearance (2 years ago), ATU retired Hope from being a combat mech, and declared it the official ATU's new equipment tester. For melee VAs, you have Skill. @Kotaro: The main bases of the three factions are: HAC- HAC Joint Armed Forces Headquarters, Novosibirsk, Russia ATU- Fort Bragg, USA UAFN- UAFN Joint Armed Forces HQ, Brandenburg, Germany] [Gobi Desert, Mongolia. 0630 hrs] There was no time to dodge. The Tov had the Zophiel all lined up. Joshua sat in the cockpit, hands gripping the controls. This was it. He'd worked all his life to become a VA pilot- and what did he get? A bullet to the face and a million Eurasian dollars down the drain. The Tov cocked its rifle, aimed.... ....and was promptly sent flying by a drop pod slamming into the sands with the force of an artillery shell. The shock shook Joshua out of his reverie, and he activated the thrusters on the Zophiel, righting himself. Out of the pod stepped a black VA, holding a huge spear with a curved blade and a shield glowing with energy. Upon its shoulders, the VA bore the crest of the UAFN forces: an azure griffin holding a sword and shield aloft. The Tov got up, aiming at the newcomer, and was promptly rewarded with a slash that cut off its arm and one of the launchers. The black VA follwed this up by bashing in the Tov with its shield, caving in the VA's orihalcon chest. That VA would fight no more that day. It toppled over, fatally crippled. The black VA then boosted off, thrusters flaring a bright blue as it headed for its destination. Its body shimmered, then turned a clear white, blending into the desert air. Cloaking ability, Joshua thought. At that, Joshua's curiosity got the better of him, and he followed the newcomer, thrusters flaring to life as he pursued the mech. [Red Miko, let's pull back,] Joshua said, speaking to Mariko on the commlink. The Dai-Tengu followed, covering Joshua's rear. Joshua switched channels, choosing to link up to Kwang's. His Dai-Tengu was now completely disabled, lying in a smoking heap atop a dune. Still, there was a chance he could have cheated death. [K-90? Hey, K'90?] No response. Dammit, Joshua cursed. Kwang was probably dead, smashed to pieces by the long fall. Joshua shook his head, then turned to report to the Elysia. [Sun and Stars to Home One, come in.] [Home One speaking, state your message.] [Sun and Stars speaking. Caravan only a distraction. Big Bear under attack by suspected AIA agents in exos. Unidentified UAFN VA arrived at our position and is currently en route to Big Bear. VA equipped with cloaking module.] He took a deep breath before beginning again. [Awaiting orders.] [Assist Big Bear,] came the order. [Await orders r.e. UAFN VA. I shall attempt to get the VA's frequency and trace its vessel, if it has one. If attacked, do not retaliate.] Joshua chafed at the last order. Do not retaliate? What, and let myself get chopped to pieces by that newcomer? Still, the Ensign had spoken, and he had to obey. [Roger that,] he answered. [We will send reinforcements to your position. Simply hold out as long as is necessary.] That was the last transmission before Natasha signed off. They were approaching the spot where the other two VAs were. A plume of smoke rose from the dune; the Behemoth's foot was probably on fire at the moment. Shots from rifles and the whoosh of RPGs went off, to be answered by the whirr of the Tov's vulcan. Joshua patched in a call to Anatoly. [Borzoi, come in!] he said, using Anatoly's callsign. The comlink crackled, then began to speak in Anatoly's voice. [What the devil, Joshua?! Can't you see I'm busy here?] He turned away for a moment to fire at an exo with a Dragon Slayer. [1] [What the hell do you want?] [Me and Mariko are here to aid you. Oh, yeah, there's a VA coming there. It's from the UAFN, but I don't know if it's on our side. Be careful, it's got a cloaking module.] He thought of what to say next. [Oh yeah, how's Big Bear holding up?] [I've managed to keep the exos off his a**, but I don't know how long I can keep it up. I hope you get there soon, I don't want to have to fight an invisible VA all by myself, damn you!] [Copy that. On my way.] Joshua shut the commlink off, then tapped the touchscreen, initializing two commands: "QUICKDRAW_CMD:DRAW_MG90 'SYKRANOS'." "QUICKDRAW_CMD:ARM_RK55 'EPICENTER'." A single rifle unfolded from the Zophiel's backpack, and he unslung it, holstering the Hornet Stingers as he did so. The panels on his shoulders unfolded, revealing four missile launchers. "Let's do this," he said. With a war-cry, he boosted over the dune, landing beside the crippled Behemoth. Overhead, the Dai-Tengu floated, railguns charging up. There were several of them: men in exosuits, the white of the ceramic-orihalcon plating clashing with the sand's dusty brown. They dodged in and out of the Tovarisch's range, firing M-120s and Dragon Slayers at the towering mech. Several of them were already down, their armor riddled with bullet holes. Joshua let rip with the Epicenters, forcing the exos to dodge. Several dodged too late, and the missiles struck them, blasting them backwards. The Tovarisch sprayed the remaining exos with bullets, forcing them to jump backwards. A shimmering shape appeared behind them, and prepared to swing an invisible polearm. [Holy crap! Look behind you, Anatoly!] Joshua said. [What are you on about?] Anatoly turned the Tov around- - in time to see the blurred shape cutting a swath through the exos. **************** NOTES: [1] AV-12 "Dragon Slayer"- Anti-tank rocket launcher used by most armed forces. @Icarael The weapon I was using was the sword not the naginata Fenris Gobi Desert There were a lot of targets in here even more than they had expected. Fenris: Wolf calling the Odin. Odin: This is Odin what's the situation? Fenris: There are more enemy targets than first appeared requesting a sweep from north to south straight line over the Behemoth full load. Odin: Request for sweep granted the Valkyries ride from north in 5 minutes prepare. Loki: I'm patching you through to the communication systems of the HAC suits so you can coordinate effective resistance. Fenris: Okay, send me the frequency. Loki: Done. Fenris opened the data package sent by the Nox and uploaded it into his suits communication mainframe. Fenris: This is UAFN Variable Armor Designation Black Wolf codename Fenris calling for all HAC forces. Strenghten your kinetic barriers or align your strongest armor towards north Valkyries will ride from there in 3 minutes. Ride of the valkyries was the common callsign for a strafing run in UAFN military lingo. Hopefully the HAC forces would believe him and or they could suffer some serious damage. Fenris disengaged the stealth field and took cover next to the Behemoth firing bursts from his shoulder mounted railguns and aligning himself so that he was at the southern side of the Behemoth. Fenris: We can talk in more detail after the situation is over. After the Ride I would like some covering fire while I charge that Tovarisch at the hill. Third Tovarisch had appeared this equipped with the standard Vulcan rather than the missiles that the one he had disabled had been carrying.
