Part 1: The Beginning Okay, so I'm pretty sure everyone has been a part of a collaborative story at least once in their life, but for those who haven't, a collaborative story is when multiple authors take turns writing parts of a story. An Example Author A: One late summer afternoon Billy was walking downtown. Author B: WHEN SUDDENLY A FLAMING JUMBO JET FELL FROM THE SKY! HEADING STRAIGHT TOWARDS HIM! Author C: Thinking quickly, Billy used the Force. The jumbo jet lurched to a halt just inches away from Billy's face. Author A: Billy had saved the day! The unburnt passengers quickly evacuated the plane. As you can see the alternating authors adds a very fun but unpredictable element to the collaborative story. I think if we all work together we have the potential to create something awesome, but before we get started I think I should lay down some guidelines. Guidelines 1. (Probably the most important rule of all) TAKE TURNS! This isn't a one-man show, there is no I in collaborative... well there is but you get the point. 2. Try and limit the amount of lines you add too the story. Feel free to express yourself but don't go overboard and add five paragraphs. 3-10 sentences per a post should be adequate. Shorter posts help improve the flow of the story and also allows more people to enter their ideas. 3. Please include "Part X" in the beginning of your post like I have. It will make it much easier to move through the story with a simple command F (STAY IN NUMERICAL ORDER!!!). If mislabeling occurs it can easily be fixed with the "edit" button. 4. Keep it clean. Seeing as how this is a story, swearing (when contextually appropriate), should be okay but don't go crazy. Do not abuse language or post anything others might find offensive. Look at the Terms Of Use! Please follow them. If you think it might violate them then don't post it! 5. Randomness can be good! Sometimes it's fun to suddenly change something but please, do not deliberately try to sabotage the story. Also, if you do suddenly change something, make sure it makes some sense. 6. Feel free to include your thoughts or ideas about/for the story in your posts. Suggest plot ideas, character development, anything! but make sure you distinguish between your suggestions and which parts you are adding to the story. Maybe putting quotations or asterisks around your additions can help. Minimizing confusion is important. 7. Don't always add something new. While it's fun to add new things sometimes too much new material can be hard to understand. Try and work with some of the ideas that have already been written. Go back to older posts, maybe use a character that hasn't appeared in a while or add to your own ideas. 8. I don't know if I have to say this but proofread. You don't want to sound like a moron... no offense. Guidelines, DONE! I'm sure I forgot something... but hey, no one's perfect. Now that that's over it's time to begin. YAY! *The alarm went off. It was 8:30 am and a female figure hidden beneath white sheets began to stir. Slowly she sat up. Still groggy she rubbed her eyes and looked down. In utter horror she discovered that her skin was now green.*
