So, I'm going to hopefully be performing in a karaoke contest at Fanime. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to songs they think I should sing. If you want to hear what my voice sounds like, check out the Gendou Idol thread, as I am a finalist there. Thanks in advance! ^^ |

What type of songs (genre) would you generally prefer to be recommended? ------- |

I'm up for most. :3 It just has to be Japanese/anime music, though and it can't be a famous American song used in an anime like Fly Me to the Moon. XD That was the example. That made me sad. |

Sing whatever you like. It's a karaoke contest. Have fun. Since you are a finalist in Gendou Idol, you'll probably have a very good chance at winning. That said, Lillum from Elfen Lied would be a good choice for your voice. Another one would be Yasashii Yoake from .hack//SIGN. Actually there are quite a few songs that would be be good from .hack, but since they are BGMs there isn't a karaoke version. Looking at your Youtube, Danzai no Hana~Guilty Sky~ would be good. I think Inori ~ You raise me up would be good too, but it hard to tell from the recording on youtube. I'll probably do the karaoke contest at Fanime too. But like you, I don't have a "jpop" voice and being a male means that I have can only choose from like 1% of all anime songs out there. =( EDIT: Kirameku Namida wa Hoshi ni from Fate/STAY Night Shinjitsu no Uta From Inuyasha Sekai no Yakusoku from Howl's Moving Castle Konna ni Chikaku de from Nodame Cantabile |

That'd be realy cool! I'm going to con with a group of friends, one of whom is entering the contest too. I've started considering singing Salva Nos. I think it could knock people's socks off. |

I know. It's easier for me to reply here, so I'll do so. I'm sorry you didn't make it into the contest. I'm thankful because this is my first con ever and this is something I really wanted to do there, among other things. Hopefully a lot of people who made it into the contest have never competed in it before. I know it sucks that you didn't make it in, because you have a nice voice, but I feel worse for the people who haven't had the chance to compete before and didn't make it in with the online sign ups, you know? I saw on youtube that you'd made it to finals the year before (good for you, by the way!) |

Aw thanks. Ya. Last year was my very first Karaoke Contest. I got 8th out of 40 I think. But considering I was in the finals with Sakuranek0 I knew I didn't stand a chance. I'm glad you're competing though. I'll probably go to pop my head in and try and compete. I'm gonna see if my friends from the game room can sign up for me. I doubt it, but we'll see. What did you decide to sing? ^-^ |

Lacrimosa for prelims (I need to check with them to change it ASAP, as I said Lilium but then changed my mind) and It's Gonna Rain for finals. If you make it in, what would you be singing? Also, thanks for not seeing me as mean or something. I was hoping that my post didn't come out meanly, because I really do feel for you and your frustration, but at the same time I want those who've never had the chance to try to be able to have the awesome experience that you do. And 8th out of 40 is good. :3 |

haha! Nah! I try not to take things seriously and I know how you feel. It'll be nice to watch the contest this year with new faces. I plan to camp out in front of the Karaoke Room on the 22nd if you wanna join me. haha! XD But I merely enjoy the contest cause of my love for singing and music. I enjoy listening to everyone and hearing the different variety of people. That's why I enter the contest. As for me, if I get in *crosses fingers* I'll probably do "Sayonara" from Saikano for prelims and "Taiyou no Uta" for the finals. Or the other way around? Haven't really decided. BTW, I plan to record you and anybody else I know from the Contest. ^-^ |

Good luck with that, guys! I was lucky in that I almost forgot, but around 5pm the night of remembered, and read up on info to make sure I wass there at the moment it went up. I read that it said around 10pm and would go up slightly before 10pm on Twitter, so I literally kept refreshing the Twitter page as I watched Family Guy and American Dad on FOX. My friend barely made it in, and I was worried she wouldn't. It was really important to me that we both make it in because we'd helped each other pick songs. Neko, do you know when they first start letting you change your sign up info? I said I wanted to do a song for prelims but changed my mind and want to do Lacrimosa. I'm asking since you'd know that kind of info, I'd imagine, and I want to get that straightened out as soon as possible. Off topic, but is anyone here going to go see Utada in San Fran on the 14th of May? She's going to be at the Best Buy to promote her new album and apparently you can get stuff signed. |

3pm is when they first let you change your songs. You have until 6:30 to change it so no rush. I changed mine last year at about 6-ish. I saw Utada at the Sephora in Hollywood a month ago when she started her "Come back to Me" single promotion here in the States. Word of advice, get there very early if you want to get signings. I got there 2 hours before the event and the line was all the way to street (about 300 people ahead of me). I'd say at least 500 people showed up. Only the first 50 or so people got a signing and a photo with Utada. First person started waiting at 6AM. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_JpqlDwG7M P.S. There is a Utada karaoke contest going on where you can win a trip with 3 friends to have a 30min minute karaoke session with Utada in Tokyo. |

We'll see. I'd love to hang some, but I'm going to con with friends I've been talking to on the net for 4.5 years now but haven't had the chance to meet until now, so I imagine we may be glued together for a while. However, I do want to hang. :3 I hope you can watch me sing, Neko, because my mic does not do my voice justice. D: Ask any of my friends who know me offline. However, if you have oreos, I may be highly motivated to come on over. :b Taming a dog with food is easy. Erm, training an SS with food is easy. |
