Im not talking about scenes in anime that made you feel sad i mean that the whole world revolves around the sad effect. from what ive seen so far i get it from Gantz- they are in a world of in the middle of death Blue Gender- their world is in a ruin with monstrous bugs etc. Innocent Venus- kids are slaughtered to be used as robot brains? Strait Jacket-no matter how many monsters they kill, they eventually turn into one themselves. Claymore- same as above. Baldr Force Exe- i felt sad for what the little girl had to become. i havent seen others yet so could you plz tell me so i can watch some? i want unique anime that have their own sad stories set in it well just one anime i remember was full of sadness in the whole episode it was tsubasa chronicle reservoir episode 40 when it told of kuro's past. it was way sadder than any naruto or gundam dramatic moments. he had his whole childhood taken away by monsters.

The anime 'Air' is chock full of them, especially what happens to Misuzu (no, I won't spoil that for you). And 'Now and Then, Here and There' is also quite sad, considering the story takes place on a dying desert planet that's ruled by a complete monster. Try and give these two a try. |

I think Chrno Crusade is very sad; the whole premise of the show is built on how Rosette has signed a contract trading her life for power (through Chrno) so that she can find her brother. Even if the show had had a happy ending (and it sure didn't) it would have been sad. That poor girl... even if everything had gone well, she wouldn't have lived to see 30. And since it didn't all go well, then, well... you know what to expect. On a non-anime note, the prequel movies to Star Wars are some of the saddest things I have ever seen. I cry every time I see Ani fall to the Dark Side. |

I have to agree with Sleepyforest; Air and Now & Then, Here & There have one of the saddest anime settings/plot. |

Anime's more emo than I realised.

Oh, I didn't even remember to include Bokurano! I completely agree. Bokurano makes me cry everytime I go back to read it. Don't forget Grave of the Fireflies. That movie was made to make you bawl. |

Well, don't forget Elfen Lied; that, like, takes the cake for sad plots! Also, FSN seemed pretty sad, particularly at the end, where Shirou realises he can't keep Saber forever. Other sad plots, IMO: -Cowboy Bebop: C'mon, the Julia-Spike-Faye triangle was too sad by half! -Colorcloud Chronicles: As the ED no doubt explains very beautifully: You can't be together forever, but the memories of the one you love will always encircle you with bands of protection. |
