*Warning ~ Spoilers* Has anyone else noticed (My second topic in the past hour; I'm really thinking tonight ^_^U) that Lelouch (Code Geass) and Light (Death Note) are really kind of similar? -They both have little sisters -They are both 17 in the beginning of each series -They both have aliases at no-one knows about, Lelouch ~ Zero and Light ~ Kira -They both lose their memories of being Kira/Zero, but have them return. -They each have side-kicks of a sort, C.C. and Ryuk, each one was given their power by that side-kick-ish person -They want to change the world -They each have a fangirl; Light ~ Misa, Lelouch ~ Kaguya -They each have a friend/enemy; Light ~ L, Lelouch ~ Suzaku -They both die in the end And there's a lot more, but I want you guys to see what you can find. And I'm just getting tired and lazy. 8D |

This has been brought up before a few times actually. It wasn't until near the very end when they found out about Light (for sure), but it was more in the second season where they started to second guess Lelouch, and yeah, near the end everyone knew (except the irrelevant). Light's a genius for regaining his memories since he planned the entire thing, which worked to perfection. For the side kick one, are you talking about them giving power to Lelouch/Light? I don't think L was ever a "friend" to Light, but Suzaku remains friends with Lelouch throughout the entire series. Both of their deaths in the end are different. One was stupid, and one we just hated cause we simply didn't like it. They both had armies/groups that back stabbed them, one of the reasons which makes Death Note's ending horrible. They did want to change the world, but Lelouch didn't kill everyone to do it. Their powers differ greatly in power and ability, but Light started a killing spree and killed people who helped him/had evidence. Lelouch did everything for the good, and in the end, truly changed the world and became a legend. Both anime's endings different greatly, too, which relates to how Light/Lelouch died.

Dunno if this thread has already been posted on here, but by god it's been discussed to pieces on the CrunchyRoll forums. I'm a little tired of it all, truthfully, but I know that they seem similar... only to those who see both series with an untrained eye. Light was a bastard who started out with good intentions and killed thousands and ended up a monster with none. Lelouch was a stubborn a-hole who drove the world to war and killed thousands... but he redeemed himself and even though his most horrible actions (not counting Euphemia and the massacre) were driven by love. Light... was not. You say that both had little sisters. Big difference in having little sisters and actually caring about them. Light hardly gave a fig toward poor Sayu, but Lelouch, however misguided his actions were, based his entire life on helping Nunnally. That also makes a huge difference in how they met their mortal ends. And Suzaku CANNOT be compared to L. He can't think worth a shit. Too much emotion, not enough brainpower. Exact opposite of L. |

i agree with anna-san, it takes proper understanding of the characters to realise they are vastly different. i didn't watch or read death note, but from what i learned from the movie, though i know it may not be accurate, light and lelouch are not similar. like anna-san said, light started out with good intentions but ended up a monster who just killed to avoid capture, even those he supposedly loved. (that girl, what's her name? didn't die in only the movie, right?) lelouch, on the other hand, was purely motivated by his love for his sister, and even though he killed many in the process, he does feel guilty over the wrongs he knows he has done and shoulders responsiblity for them, redeeming himself with the zero requiem. there really isn't much to compare. |

This thread.... I can spend a long time explaning the similarities. @caughtmyeye Though there are no doubt some differences, the similarities still dominates. Death Note, try going back to his very first intention. He didnt kill to avoid being captured actually. They were simply in his way.

Lelouch dies in the end? TT.TT No one told me >> Oh well, my own fault for not keeping up >< Personally Misa annoys me >> But I still have to download the rest of the series, it's just that pretty much every female character never fails to annoy me somehow V.V |

the both have little sister, both 17, they both act like they are god or something once they show there true character. Lelouch as zero, and light as kira.  |

Death Note and Code Geass are not far apart in general if you think about it anyways. The goal of the main character is similar, and in fact its the exact same goal, nto reform the entire world so there will be justice. Besides that Lelouch and Light are similar in MANY ways listed by a lot of the previous posters. Here's what I think (BOTH) -have a little sister -same goal -both physcotic -both have something special(light: ryuk, death note; lelouch: knightmare, black knights) -in the end both die -killed by a friend Death Note IS Code Geass, just without the awesome knightmares ;P @anna: this is a thread sicussing WHY people think theyre similar. We're not saying theyre the exact same person. And please watch the language. The rules of gendou apply to forums as well. There's no need to rant about it like that. It's only a comparrison. Chill Out.

Even before I found out that Lelouch and Light are being compared on the net, I saw how similar they were when I watched Code Geass R2. Both are intelligent, decpetive, cunning, and manipulative. I love them both~!  |

Light had a sister? I must have missed that... You know, I find it really odd that both Death Note and Code Geass, along with other series like Akumetsu, deal with the idea of abandoning society's ideas of right and wrong in order to punish what one believes to be evil in much the same way that Dostoyevsky wrote Crime and Punishment. What I would love to see is a thread comparing characters like Light and Lelouch to Raskolnikov. It would make anime a lot easier to intellectually defend to my friends.

Lelouch is better than Light. Although we can say that there are some similarities between them, we still know for a fact that Light is evil compared to Lelouch. Light killed many people just to attain the world that he wants (Sucky enough, he didn't get to change the world.) Another thing, just like Anna-san said, L and Suzaku are the exact opposites. Suzaku always mingle with his emotions, and his emotions throughout the series affect the way he decides. L, on the other hand, is more focused. His thinking is really good. When someone close to him dies, he had to control his emotions so as to not affect the way he thinks. And yeah, did you know? Lelouch is actually alive. :] He didn't die. He became immortal episodes before Suzaku "killed" him. I think he became immortal when he killed Charles. After killing him, he got the Code from Charles. Lelouch. Kyaaa~ XD  |

nah...Lelouch is better..Light is pure evil...=_=...He killed his own girlfriend for FUN!!!...he's mental and power-crazed if you ask me...=_=

There are indeed many similarities between the two, but thier motives and hearts were different. Lelouch is super-sexy, and he had reason between his every action he made. In disguse, many people fail to see inside that he has a pure heart, but powerful intellect. He also has reasons to fight and protect others close to him. And he also had many people who cared for him, like his still many fans around the world today. (Mostly me anyway! >////////< As for light, I HATED THE WAY HE KILLED WITHOUT REASONS!!! >:( :( Light is smart, but he's really nothing compared to Lelouch! Light wants justice as well, but he dosen't understand that he's creating injustice himself and for hisself. In his heart, he's nothing but an evil sin that just needed to die anyway, just begging for his own death to come. He's nothing but a devil, he had no reason at all to kill innocent people they way he did! He's just plain downright EVIL!!! Just to sum it all up for you guys. . .LIGHT IS A DEVIL AND HAS NO SOUL!!! I HATE HIM WITH A NEVER UNDERSTANDING PASSION!!! >:( >:(    |
