my family got a new washing machine sometime last summer. it's one of those high-efficiency ones that goes really fast and doesn't use as much water. we love it. now, the city i live in is now giving out a $100 rebate for anyone who has recently, within the past month or so, bought one. so, my dad comes to me last night with the delivery reciept/form for the washer and asks me to doctor something. i thought he was joking at the term doctor and somewhat assumed he was asking me to fix something or another (he asked me to work on his company's sign once) using Photoshop. he hands the form to me and tells me to change the date sold to some time in March instead of July. i stared at the form for a long while, contemplating on whether to do so was right. so what should i do? should i do what my dad's asking me to do and modify something so he can scam the city of $100, or do i refuse saying that it's not right (not to mention bordering on illegal if it isn't already) and against my morals? i don't want to make him angry, but i don't want either of us to get in trouble if we're caught. should i come up with an excuse as to why i can't do it?  |

Sorry it is against morals and highly dangerous- i'm not saying the cash isn't good- btu i dont htink it's worth it.... sorry. P.S; *cough* coffee over computer or however you plan to "modify" it..   |

Dont... and do not EVER do it.... One piece of advice... tell the truth... you know the rules once bot of you are caught, both of you just stained your family's name... Remember the washer has the other copy of the receipt if it was traced and proven altered... just think of the consequences if you do that  --> |

That HAS to be illegal! What is your dad thinking? Think about it. 100$ = JAIL/FINE(s)? No. Forget that. And if the washer costs even more than that, obviously not worth it, but yeah don't do it. Like, a 100$ in this situation is not that much money. Totally not worth doing it.

thank you for the advice. after seeing what you guys have said, as well as consulting my brother, i feel more assured that what my dad doing is wrong and that i shouldn't help him. i figure if he really does get angry, something needs to be done about it. really, thanks. |
