*.MKV videos skipping?

I've recently downloaded "Birdy the Mighty: Decode". For some reason, the videos would randomly pause and the picture would turn into blobs of colors; the sound continues normally, however. I'm using the newest version of VLC, so i don't know what's wrong. The other MKVs doesn't cause this problem. Is there anything I can do to fix it? |

It could be that the file is just messed up, and you'd have to try finding another version of it somewhere, orrr.. well, I'm not that fond of VLC, Media Player Classic seems to have much less problems playing videos than VLC and is much better imo. Sorry I don't much technical stuff about VLC since I use MPC now, but since you said it's only that one video that messes up, it might just be that maybe.. the file didnt finish downloading completely when you downloaded it, or something. Wish I could be of more help |

All the MKV files from that anime causes this problem. I've already redownloaded them twice. I believe it has to do with the fact that it's an HD MKV file. I'll give MPC a try. EDIT: Ok, i just DLed Media Player Classic. It doesn't skip, which is good. Only 1 problem, i can't turn on the subtiles for the MKV file. The subtiles thing is greyed out. How do I fix that? |

At the Options tab from the View menu,click on the Output sub-entry under Playback. You will need to have playback output options checked that have the ** next to them in order to be able to work with subtitles in a video.     |

Try the K-Lite codec pack...from here http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm It works as good for your skipping ones... However, K-Lite doesn't work for all media, I use it only when I find myself skipping here and there lets say for my CLANNAD by Eclipse... the subs are all tangled up etc... Ah also, do not try to wtch h264 quality on a very ancient PC as it will lag - I can't watch them and I have to go up to my bro's one =_- YOur PC skips is because of the very badly - newly developed VLan...hopefully they will inprove it in the v 1.0 or something...

I endorse the previously suggested CCCP and Media Player Classic (included with CCCP). I have had problems making subtitles appear in Media Player Classic before, even after changing all the output options to VMR9 renderless. I eventually found a checkbox "Embedded Subtitles" under Internal Filters in the options. After checking the option subtitles appeared for MKV files! |
