In terms of storyline, I'll cast a vote for Gundam. The concept of coordinators and normal humans, I find them interesting. But I think Code Geass has the upperhand when it comes to storyline in terms of strategy and tactics - the strategies constructed by Lelouch is simply brilliant. So, its a very close call in terms of storyline. Character development? Gundam Seed has a good one, in fact its better than the rise of Zero's character in Code Geass. The development of Kira Yamato, from a normal neutral student to an elite Gundam Pilot is simply spectacular. Action based? Gundam scores again, we have to admit there are more actions (fight scenes and explosions lol) in Gundam compared to Code Geass. But Code Geass has more thrilling actions than Gundam, it thrills viewers about what is about to happen during the war (Lelouch's unpredictable brilliance). Overall, Gundam is better than Code Geass in terms of actions. Soundtracks? Wow this is one tough one, Gundam has many top rated and winning soundtracks like Ignited - T.M Revolution, etc. They are the best sellers and hit the top chart for many years (from 2003)..Of course there are many great soundtracks from Code Geass, I personally think 'Continued Story' is one of the best soundtrack there is! But based on popular reviews, Gundam won the battle of songs. Plotting? Code Geass has a better plot arrangements compared to Gundam series, gundam series can sometimes too focused on wars and conflicts and there are parts when the story diverts away from the actual path - thats where it becomes so unrelated and stuff. Code Geass on the other hand, sticks to its actual concept (about freeing Japan from the kingdom of Brittania). So, Code geass has a better plot than Gundam. Graphics? Personally I think Gundam has a better graphic layout and effects, they did use some 3-D features (for the mother ships,etc). Taking all into a summary, I think Gundam series is better than Code Geass. I would like to add that the above statements are based on personal opinion and not on facts or further researched materials. ^^
And I thought I've already 'abide' by the rules of signature.

For me it rely depends on which Gundam series I'm comparing Code Geass to. Code Geass is definitely not better then some of the stronger entries in the Gundam "universe". With that said, I rely love Code Geass a lot. Its just that the UC universe and the CE universe of Mobil Suit Gundam are, in my opinion, two of the greatest stories ever told. So I guess what I'm trying to say is Gundam is better. But I don't want any one thinking that Code Geass isn't a great and well executed series as well. |

Geass instantly made my top 3 anime. Gundam depends entirely on the adaption; SEED was pretty good. Top 10 for me. So what I'm saying is Geass all the way. If a series can make me cry then it is a truly spectacular series IMO.

hmmm comparing Code Geass which have 2 seasons with Gundam which is so vast...so many gundam series XD if it's just comparing Code Geass with a Gundam series...let's just say Gundam 00 (this is an example, mind you), it'll be easier...but comparing Code Geass with all gundam series is too hard for me. so there. lol maybe even, maybe not. i can't make up my mind XD  |

Code Geass had a great plot and all which was a great difference from gundam. How ever, Gundam has too many different series. If Code Geass was compared to Gundam 00 or SEED, I'd still say Code Geass was beter. In all of Sunrise's works, my favourite has got to be Code geass |

I personally loved Code Geass/R2, but that's me. I'm not saying it's better. I haven't seen every MS Gundam series to really answer this question, but I loved Wing of course. :P And like I said in the R2 thread, R2's ending was similar to Endless Walt's ending, totally. ^_~`

Your comparing a two year project to THE breadwinner of sunrise for thirty years. I believe the only reason why people says code geass is better is just because they have only seen Seed Wind and 00. So for obvious reasons, Gundam is better. *flame shield on*  |

I haven't watch Code geass yet but plan to watch... Most of my friends said Gundam is better than Code geass... I myself also think no mecha anime can win over gundam... Gundam come in series after series and still getting overwhelming response. |

wat the..!! Must u reali ask that dumb question!? of coz CODE GEASS IS BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's plot is so kewl and wats best they can actuali FIT the whole plot in just 2 seasons while gundam has like ,erm,10 series(dont bother counting) and they still have unanswered questions!!   |

I still prefer Gundam. For some reason, it's just more... Attractive to me. (don't kill me please!) But considering I'm only five episodes into Code Geass, I can't say much but... GUNDAM IS FOREVER PEOPLE! FOREVER!  Back. At last. ._. |
