in regards to some english lyrics that have been posted for certain songs, i've found that someone, instead of submitting the translation of the song, submitted fan-written english lyrics that are ment to fit the song; in otherwords, a fandub, of sorts. what i'm not sure on is that if this is proper. the one i found (Sore Ga Ai Deshou by Shimokawa Mikuni) had lyrics from a fandub i had, quite coincidentally, been watching. i noticed the source link was to Anime Lyrics.tv, and i decided to double check, and the lyrics there were the actual song translation. i decided to change them into the translation, since i personally feel that fanmade lyrics shouldn't be used without permission or as a translation, but i want to know if my edit was warranted. if fan lyrics are a proper contribution, i'll change it back, but i think that the correct source link should be provided. it's unfair for a fan to go uncredited.  |

Submitting the right translation is what we need, fanmade are just temporary if we can't find the right lyrics. I think the one you submitted were right and fit the song better. Fan still got credits wherever they submit it, not us to decide or give them the credits since they maybe just took it out of a video elsewhere from a certain group that subbed the series. Its no big deal really. Thanks for submitting the right one. |

well, the odd thing was that whoever submitted the lyrics sourced AnimeLyrics.tv, which HAD the translation. it wasn't much of an effort to basically copy and paste. dunno why no one else decided to do it... |

all right, same issue, different lyrics. fanmade lyrics have been submitted for the instrumental version of Brothers (from Fullmetal Alchemist). the new problem is that editing has been locked and there's nothing in the discussion about why they have been or anything. do i just leave it as is, or do i argue it? personally, i don't like the fan lyrics there, especially without a source link or proper crediting (the people who posted the lyrics are not necessarily the ones who wrote them), but if it's fine to have them as such, i'll drop the issue. |
