I'm REAL good in history I got U.S. History A.P.(Advanced Placement) I'm weakest in math... V_V; I can really ony get it w/ the guide lines infront of me.... If I master sumthing I'll for get it like a month later

Eg: JUST TODAY I was reviewing for my alg.II final and saw a problem that required the Quadratic Formula (we JUZ learned this a month ago.. before we started this Log stuff.) I was like oh SH¡T!!!! wtf am I sposed to do! Luckily one of my friends re-taught me ^_^; He's an anime/game nut too (he dosn't use this site tho' ... too busy playing FFXI all the time! lol)

well keep the good work! math and physics are nice then again your eyes might spin if you learn laplace transformations and fourier series tough once you undestand them theyre are quite userfull(maybe) who tought you could calculate the time the atmosphere of a room would become toxic if someone were smoking.
by the way if you want a good metod to get rooths use the newton metod
x1= x0+f ' (x0)/f(x0)
then you place x1 instead of x0 and so on
its nice try it

oops tought you were in high school
the f '(x) is a derivate just turn ax^3 to 3ax^2, bx^2 to 2bx, cx to c, and d dissapears the ones of higher degree follow the same rules and trigonometric, multiplications and division has their own set of roules but im too lazy to post them you'll learn this in fourth sem of high school or third i dont remember

WOW!!!!!!!!!physics IS So complicaTED!!!!! oh well... i'm not really going to study it in the future but i'm still gonna learn it...SOB!!!!! ok ok^^ i think physic is better then biology and chemistry!! right? right? i HATE BIO eventhough like 90% of people love it~ weird~ the worst part is the....BODY!!!!!!!!!yuk!!

ohayo!!!

that was more calculus than physics. but yeah, if you decide to take physics or chem or engineering in university you *need* this calculus.

hey. I was talking with friends yesterday and apparently the uk education system is two years ahead of the us in terms of content. Are they any us senior out there(17-18) who can give me an idea of what u do at school?

o.O i always failed trigonometry. coz they're teaching it in 3rd year(i mean high school)!! can you believe that??? and i'm just 15 years old(i live in the philippines). freaky school. o yeah and were having calculus in 4th year!!! wahhhhh!!!

in philippines highschool is of four years?????
here is of 2 or 3 depending on the school

Re: Phyics Final ^_^;

yes.. coz we only have up to grade 6 or 7 in elementary then we get to highschool(4 years) after that. and we have no junior high here. >.< were having calculus now. >.< its baddddd!!!

nah its not that bad wait till you have diferential equations, the big ones are a real pain in the ass.

I'm Indonesian and I don't quite understand what you people are actually saying cuz it has a different meaning in Indonesian, but I can only say that... Math can't be described onto words cuz it only plays with your mind. When you get to the frustrating part, get some sleep and you'll finish the part in seconds (Trust me! I always do!). The only annoying part is when you know the answer of one hellish question that you couldn't do is a 1 or 0, that sucks!!! For physics and chemistry, wow, it's so simple and exciting!
My American buddy sez that Indonesian curriculum (for the Private schools) are the worst in the world, is it true? Cuz when my seniors (they're the worst in their class) move to America, they got the highest rank in the class.

WELCOME TO THE REVOLUTION

Math isnt difficult at all just that some equations are long as hell for example fourier series or big differential equations(1 equation takes two or three pages to get done) or those 6*7 matrix with complex numbers (eyes spin again and again and again).

They arent hard but consume a lot of time and work.

AYE-CURUMBA. Differential Equation hard? NO! Partial Differential Equation=yes! =( Whoa, after taking Partial Differential Equation course as a first year student in college (I finish most of the other math in high school) I think nothing makes sense anymore. I agree Fourier Series, Fourier Transform is sort of hard but very close to LaPlace transform so it shouldn't be that difficult. The wave equation, eigenvalue expansion, etc. was sort of okay as well. Hey does anyone understand how they derive the famous "heat equation" uses for a one dimensional surface (I know, totally unrealistic) My lousy book confuse me too much. I understand how it works. But how in the world was it derived???

Cant wait for Advance Partial Differential Equation. <_<

I'm sort of new year here. I just want to know why we even have a physics forum in anime website??!?!? Hey is the guy/gal in charge a physics major??? If s/he is, very cool! lol, I was a physics major too ^_^
Currently a biomedical engineering major^^ lol, more money in this area ^^ but I want to give my utmost respect to those who are physicist out there. I've been through many of the incredibly rigorous physics course and I can tell you damn is it hard!

I am a physics major.. well I was.. I got an A in all my physics related classes, but after being in junior level physics classes but still not passing english 101(taken it 5 times) or any other non physics course.. i have been kicked out, guess ill study physics on my own.

Oh its also an attendance problem not that I cant write or read, i just dont care enough

But I agree that being just a physicist is kinda hard do to no real job.. I was going to switch to a dual major of physics and chemistry.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

"hey. I was talking with friends yesterday and apparently the uk education system is two years ahead of the us in terms of content. Are they any us senior out there(17-18) who can give me an idea of what u do at school"

I'm Canadian (Albertan) and just finished my last year of high school.

Physics covered Kinimatics and Dynamics (grade 12 covered conservation of momentum collisions), Electric Forces, Magnetic Forces (including both ac and dc motors), and Atomic Model (including Radioactivity, some quantum mechanics, history...)

Social Studies covers (between grades 11 and 12): Europe from the French Revolution onwards to present day, with emphasis on the collapse of monarchy and it's consequences (Rein of Terror, Napoleon, German Unification), Hitler's rise to power, the Cold War, and the United Nations (and the League of Nations).

Chem focuses on Redox and Bronsed-Lowery Acid/Base interactions, with a bit on reaction equalibrium.

Bio does organ systems (brain, ear, eye, endocrin system and reproduction from organs to conception to birth), mandelian genetics, structural genetics, cell cycles, and popluation study.

English focuses on reading comprehension and essay writing (the reading comp is actually difficult, I mean it. It's multiple choice so you end up asking yourself: Is the character "Afraid" or "Unnerved"?

Math does everything from sequences and series to permuations and combinations, trig (equalities, unit circle, and graphing (+ transforming) sin, cos, tan, sec, cot, and... ummm.. that other one)

Calc goes through differentiation for 4 units then begins 1 unit of integration (the hardest part is probably trig substitution).

hey...I also liked physics although sometimes it can be sooo annoying when u cant do it...i'm from indonesia ,junior high.. i'm learning about electricity..i think its fun..but then me and my friend, we joined this selction to choose the jakarta olympiad team and held this sort of program for a week where we study physics and then they held a test and only takes half of the class to continue to the ext round. well we joined but only survived till the 4th..(the team was made in the 5th...damn)and studied about the bernoulli(did i spell it right?), thermodynamics, and stuff...it really beats the crap out of me..but still its fun ^_^

I like physics as well, though sometimes it makes my head spinning..,, Indeed physics and maths are related with each other, like derivation and trigonometry stuff. I'm not good at trigonometry and solving problems that need a very complicated calculation ... but I DO like those problems,, somehow it is fun! The theory as well..

I'm just curious, in physics class do you study atoms, focusing on quantum theory or even 'antimatter'? Mine doesn't focus on that at school. I know them from internet and novel..

hehehe this must sound very lame but i haven't reach that part yet, i dunno 'bout that derivation stuff (well maybe i do but u see, we dont use english in class so probably we use a different term...)Well in physics class i'm studying about electricity right now, atoms are for the next seemester, and whats that antimatter thing? ^_^

In my opinion physics are something really important if you want to know much about technology...but that science is very depends on mathematics to solve problems..for example about mechanics you'll need at least calculus and differential equation skills..for analyzing vibration or signal you'll need understanding of fourier analysis (including the transformation stuff) at your disposal..pretty tough huh.Still if you want to follow the latest technology and live in it...I recommend to take it..Oh yeah, inside physics you will still have to choose your expertise area..in my univ there are :
- theoritical physics (which studies about relativity, space-time, quantum mechanics etc...)
- nuclear physics (studies about how nuke reactor works and the design, radiation ,etc)
- material physics (studies about superconductor, new kinds of materials / polymer , semiconductor etc..)
- bio and medical physics ( studies about the effect of physical phenomenon if interact with lifeform , such as radiation ,electrical effect on living cells etc)
- instrumentation and electronics (studies about electronic measurment device, telemetry, electronics sensors and even robotics)
- geo / earth physics (studies about physical properties of earth, for example geomagnetic field and physical properties of rock)

Well, I guess it's the big picture of physics community
I don't think that everything will be taught as a mandatory subject..usually the mandatory subject are calculus + physical mathematics, modern + quantum physics , electricity and magnetism..and stuff..but the expertise subject usually an optional subject
