Closer to the sun?
Link | by orca on 2008-12-22 20:33:18
I live in Indonesia,, and i have been wondering about the Sunrise.. When I was a child i remember that at 05.30 the sun haven't rise yet, and the sky still dark,, but now when i woke up at 05.15 i found out that the sun has rise..

Is it the phenomena where we are closer to the sun?? Or is it just the change in earth's orbit??

Just wondering..

During the winter, the days are shorter than in the summer, and therefore the sunrise is earlier in the morning.
The cause of the shortened day is the same as the cause of the seasons.
The Earth is tilted on it's axis of rotation.
When the northern hemisphere is tilted towards the sun, it is summer time.

Indonesia straddles the equator, so there should be little variation in sunrise throughout the year. However a 15 minute variation isn't unreasonable.

If on the same day of the year with the same weather, the sunrise is not in the same time, this would be caused by a slow inclination in the rotation axis of Earth(?). However that would be very weird; i've never heard of any phenomenon like this before.
Btw, most of the people where I live (Mauritius Island) believe that there are 4 seasons though we live in a tropical country. That's quite funny, especially when they believe that we should wait for spring to plant whatsoever european tree here :p

i live in Indonesia too and realize the same thing.
From what i believe was that what gendou say was right
even we don't live on Winter season, world was roaming on Winter Season.
and even Indonesia got it's effect because we live in South East nearly Winter season.
