awesome... truth be told, I didn't even know there was going to be another SF game. So, SF IV is the direct sequel to SF III? The previous movie based on SF II and the Alpha series were pretty good as well.. the franchise is pretty old school, so it's no wonder that this thread is somewhat ignored by the young ones XD

No. Street Fighter 4 "canonically" enters the series in between SF II and SF III. That's why the majority are returning characters from SF II. The Alpha series was created in a direct response to the popular Street Fighter II Animated movie and in turn made a whole mess of the canon. Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |

Actually, I rather liked the comic-ish look of the Alpha series, much like how they did the Darkstalkers/Night Warriors series. Well, the big addition this time seems to be the special camera views when a super is done. And Bison is still an in-game character, even though apparently the big boss is someone else, seeing SFIV is supposed to be not long after SFII time-line wise.

Seth is the boss in the arcades or if you managed to perform well. Akuma will appear as a secret challenger. It's still not certain how the appropriately named "super hidden character" Gouken will appear. I'm still waiting for the other character announcements. When Capcom asked which character fans wanted to be included in SF4 they voted Cammy to be in the line-up and although she was announced to be included in the home versions. No actual gameplay footage nor character models of her are yet released. Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |

Uso~~ Gouken's the sensei for Ryu and Ken isn't he? I thought he was killed years ago by Akuma. Or is that not canon?

Capcom pretty much wasted the canon anyways. (Seems like its becoming a trend retconing games nowadays) Prior to the events of the Street Fighter Alpha series, Gouken was challenged by Akuma to a death match and was defeated, setting off Ryu's quest to avenge his master's apparent death in Street Fighter Alpha 2. <- Wiki In SF IV, he could just very well be a character with no involvement in the story.
