The year 2025, nothing much has changed in the world. Technology has advanced and has influenced the entire world. ...Yet, some things in this world will never change. Most people are still incompetent and imperfect. But what if... What if that imperfection was caused by an external factor... Like magic? You would have one very complicated equation. Magic was all but dead, some people still believe in it, but it has had little advancement... Except for two major things; "The Gift" and the Astral Mirror. "The Gift", an essence that has managed to stump magic researchers for centuries, was said to give the given social and mental flaws, but would give something else in return; a mystical power unknown to even the most dedicated of researchers. It is said that those with social and mental flaws and a bad past had "The Gift". Trauma is one of the hypothesized outcomes of "The Gift". Trauma could be caused by a terrible event that happened during one's life. The Astral Mirror was able to see all flaws inside a person and one other thing: It had the power to invoke that person's EGO. EGO, which stood for Eternal Genetic Organism, was inside everyone. It was like a distorted reflection of oneself, it was the embodiment of all the flaws inside that person. It somehow resembles its host and its host's opposite traits. (If you were a war-freak, your EGO would be something like a God of Peace.XD) It seems that EGOs exist for the purpose of correcting human behavior. In the year 2020, it was proven that "The Gift" and the Astral Mirror were connected. Those with "The Gift" were capable of invoking their EGOs after seeing them in the Astral Mirror. It has been proven that those who can invoke "The Gift" has the power to shift their EGOs into an armed state, in simpler terms, a weapon. There are currently two Astral Mirrors, one being held inside a city bursting with people and one inside a school a bit outside of the mainland of Japan. The school was called Kyokkai Academy, it was formed to help those with "The Gift" with the help of the EGOs by changing their perspective on life. The school's activities are ran by the students themselves as it helps instill discipline onto them and helps in the financial problems of the school. The city however... wishes that the world would change. They use EGOs for their self-righteous deeds of "liberation". What comes first? World change or self-change? -------------------------------------------------- Rules: 1. Your character must have at least one major flaw, of course. 2. No God-modding, obviously. 3. Romance is fine, just keep it PG-13. 4. You can only have one EGO unless your character has a split-personality issue. 5. The school is NOT connected to Japan, it is on an island. So obviously, you can't just walk to the city. ~_~ 6. Since this is the year 2025, inventions are of course, welcome. 7. You may decide to skip time if you deem it necessary. Abuse of this will not be tolerated. 8. Those who are students, this is a high school and college, so keep those ages inside the high school and college bracket. 9. Have a job inside the RP, especially the students. 10. You may use a profile or a descriptive paragraph to describe your character. 11. Class starts at 9:30 and ends at 4:00, the times of your respective jobs are completely up to you, curfew is 12:00 midnight. Character Sheet: Name: Your character's name here. Age: Needs to be the high-school to college bracket. Gender: Self-explanatory Appearance: Your character's appearance. Faction: School or city? Job: Job. EGO: EGOs have their own names. Attitude: Your character's attitude. Biography: Your character's biography. [[I will post my profile after someone decides to join.]] |

Sure Dach, can never resist a delicious RP ^^v to hell with assignments name: Hikarigaoka Ryuukage age: 18 gender: Male Appearance: (Reference - Hashiba Sora, Sukisho) faction: CITY job: student EGO: ULTRASOUL [have never been activated] the opposite of the void filling Ryuukage's soul, said to be the unparalleled soul that has the very essence of mankind's willpower. When will Ryuukage be able to meet his ego? attitude: very lazy and totally laidback, keeps his head cool all the time and can think of a "one time sure-kill way" to end a problem. Appears cheerful and outgoing but hides a frail personality. If everything is not going his way or something unpredictable happens, he would throw himself into oblivion, emptying his mind and giving up all hopes bio: (Sorry it takes a long time, had to relate it to the picture ^^v) Hikarigaoka family is known for its mental and physical training to achieve the state of "Perfectness". However, young Ryuukage couldn't handle all of the harsh training and eventually ran away to the deep forest. He was caught unprepared and attacked by wild wolves. When he was in the brink of death, his crush covered him and was severely injured by the wolves. His family rushed to the forest and were able to save Ryuukage just in time. However, it was too late for the girl. Shocked by the fact that his loved one died, he blames himself over and over and eventually, his mind couldn't bear with it. Since then he chose to run from sad and unwanted facts, sealing his mind and covered it with a smile. Many thought he resembles one of their ancestors from China and believed that he's his reincarnation

Congrats on a well thought out story so far, I'm looking forward to playing, but I wonder about the nature of EGO's. If mine is not what what counts as an EGO please tell me. Name: Tekashi Tsukun Age: 19 Gender: Male Appearance: EGO: Frenzy Faction: School Employed: Clerk at supermarket Attitude: Detached, afraid of his own abilities. Fears that he will be the cause of the destruction of everything he loves. Bio: It started when he went on vacation with his father to America. He was just happy to go along. His father had business to do with an orphanage, donating money, and while he was dealing with other business people, Tekashi had wandered off. Soon Tekashi had made a friend, as little kids often do, and they played together playing Hide and Seek, it was all fun and games until Tekashi was once again hiding, and he came into a room, with a single mirror. Curiousity getting the better of him, Tekashi walked forward and in the mirror he saw himself, it looked like him, but something was strange. Tekashi approached the mirror, getting close, as did the mirror of Tekashi. Soon Tekashi and mirror Tekashi were face to face. Slowly, Takeshi raised his hand and touched the glass of the mirror, as did his mirror self. However, once they had both touched, his mirror self grinned an evil grin, and Tekashi's hand closed around something, and the him in the mirror had disappeared. "Fo-" started the little boy with whom he had made friends, for some reason, it seemed the room demanded quiet, but there was Tekashi, who apparantly did not hear him. In shock Tekashi pulled away, but the thing was still in his hands, it was a dagger that to a little kid looked very large, he tried to just let go, but he couldn't, he had wanted to get rid of this, this thing so badly. He could tell that this thing wanted blood. He started to thrash around, trying so desprately to get rid of this thing, that is until it obliged. Tekashi was swinging the knife trying anything, and suddenly, it released and flew a perfect flight right to the door, right to the little boy, right into his heart. Tekashi looked with horror upon the scene, time standing still, dagger midflight, the boy's look of fear, his own scream all engrained unto his mind forever. After the knife had struck, and the boy lay there dead, Tekashi looked back at the mirror, the image had returned, laughing at Tekashi, at what he had done. He could not stand it, he rushed at the thing, wanted to break it, wanted to hurt it with something, but nothing happened, he only hurt his hands. He then fell to his knees sobbing, eventually laying down and crying himself to sleep. Takeshi woke up on the plane back to Japan, his father was right next to him looking worried. "Why Takeshi, why did you have to wander off? You were never supposed to know about that room." "Father, I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry, I'm a bad person, I did something horrible," whimpered Takeshi. "Yes, you did, but you are not a bad person, never think that, trust me, it will be okay, now you are going to go to one of the islands that help special kids like you," said Mr. Tsukun. "I have friends there that will help you with what you did back there. There's no need to worry about it, if anyone can help you, its them." "Okay father," said Takeshi, "I will be good." From then on Takeshi lived on that island, his father coming to visit him every weekend, and eventually he started going to Kyokkai Academy. There they called what he had "The Gift" but this was no gift, not by a long shot, it was a curse. |

Thank you for the compliments~ EGOs are sort of like supernatural beings. They have a somewhat opposite personality of its host. They are also capable of changing itself into an armed form, a.k.a a weapon. But I seem to have forgotten two things: Please specify the jobs of your characters and the faction, Kyokkai Academy or the city. Now that more people have gathered, I'll go post my profile. Name: Isaac Reyndalt Age: 17 Gender: Male Appearance: Sort of long black hair, bangs going a bit below his ears. Violet eyes, glasses. Around 5'10" in height. Usually wears a black parka with white fur, khaki pants with a chain wallet, a beret with a skull pin and black shoes and a pair of headphones always hanging around his neck. EGO: Sympathy Attitude: He never cared about how people felt, always silent and acts like an anti-social. But in reality, he was just afraid. He didn't want to see people die right before his eyes again. Faction:School Job:Music Cafe manager. Biography: Isaac used to be a part of the city. Everyday, he experienced those speeches talking about world change. Everyday, he saw people rebelling against the world. Everyday, he saw someone die. Isaac's family wasn't a part of this, neither were his friends and their families. Isaac had a lot of friends, he used to chat with them and hang out all the time. ...One day, that changed. As he was buying things in the local market, he saw a huge crowd of people running towards an area. The area in which he used to live in. He ran, hoping that it wasn't them that were hurt. His family and friends weren't hurt... They were killed. Isaac could only look in awe at the scene. He was sent to an orphanage, that was the time he snapped. "Hey, isn't that kid..." "Yeah... I think it is..." he heard many of the other orphans say as he quietly sat in the corner, reading books. Isaac thought and thought, walking around the orphanage. Isaac saw a sign on a door. "Keep Out", it read. "I don't have anything to lose..." Isaac whispered as he entered the room, it held nothing but a mirror. He saw through the mirror, wide-eyed at what he saw. He saw something that reminded him of his past, himself. He saw his happy self, though the looks kind of differed, looking at Isaac. "Don't be afraid anymore..." The figure said as Isaac looked at it. "...I'm here... I'm your EGO." The figure said in a warm voice, sort of luring Isaac before the image disappeared. After a month, Isaac was adopted by a wealthy couple. He remained anti-social, even with what his EGO said. He was sent to Kyokkai Academy as a student by his foster parents, hoping that they could cure his anti-social personality. Isaac agreed, but not because of that reason. He wanted to know more about himself and the world's current state. He sometimes spray-paints murals on a long, empty wall a bit outside his room. Though he covers it with white paint and makes murals again after taking a picture of it with his high-resolution digital camera. He also makes murals at his music cafe. |

This RP looks promising, I'll sign up^^ Name: Yoru Kurenai Age: 20 Gender: Male Appearance: (click to enlarge) Faction: City Job: Trainee Bartender EGO: Tsumibito Attitude: He acts normally infront of people. But by himself, he might get confused and irritable sometimes. Biography: He lost his memory a year ago and only his EGO knew what happened but can't say anything about it. His name was given by someone who founded him around that time. The only thing he could remember is a shadow of someone reaching out his/her hand to him with red tears falling from his/her eyes with a big grin and Yoru was reaching out to him/her. At 2024, an incident took place, but nobody in the public knew. It was concealed to the point that nothing of it was heard. Yoru was found near the site of incidence by someone, with his hand seemingly trying to reach something or someone... |

Ohh, thanks for the explanation Dach, now I understand, I'll be editing my original post, quite a bit in fact. Btw, just for clarification, is the "Armed version" of the EGO a weapon as in an actual weapon (Sword, baseball bat, bo staff) or is it more like magical weapon? |

Name: Akiko Ryouyou Age: 17 Gender: Female Appearance: Faction: School Job: Student Head Prefect EGO: Oomizu (white angel)/oudou (evil) Attitude: A cheerful but strict girl during most times. However when people around her are being hurt, she goes all out to protect them even though she is afraid of people knowing she has a spilt personality. Biography: "The Gift" has always been a natural ability of the Ryouyou family. However, every 100 years, a person borned into the Ryouyou family will posess not one, but two Gifts opposite of each other. This special person have for centuries thought to be a destroyer of the Ryouyou family, as his/her powers are too great to be gone against even with the whole faimly against it. Thus, such a person is usually locked away in the Ryouyou family, for the fear of what might come to them. Over the last hundred years, no one of such nature was borned into the Ryouyou family, or so it was thought. Is was only found that Akiko was one of them when she was the only saved from the crash their family car was in 5 years ago. Having lose all her direct family members whom she so loved all at one instant, Akiko fell into a voluntary coma. As she woke up from a month long's dream, she noticed that she was nolonger alone. She noticed that she was the one the Ryouyous feared. Decided not to lose anymore people whom she loved, Akiko signed herself up at Kyokkai Academy, giving the excuse that it was too painful to continue staying at the main house. @Dach: Please see if this dual personality thingy is ok~ =) |

Interesting. My first RP fell flat, but you've developed quite a flair for it. Kudos! By the way, since students run the school, can we have jobs like psychologist or counselor? Name: Derrick Snow Age: 17 Gender: Male Appearance: Faction: School Job: Counselor/Student Psychologist EGO: Tenkage, or Heaven Shadow (His version of his father's personality.) Attitude: Extremely empathetic, generous and kind. Cheerful to a fault, he takes even the most horrifying events in stride (Which sometimes annoys those around him.). Basically, he's his father's opposite. Biography: Grew up rich, but was sent to Kyokkai by his caretakers when his gift was discovered. A few months before, his parents had died. He walked in on his parents an instant before his father shot his mother, killing her. His father saw him, said he was sorry, and turned the gun on himself. Derrick screamed for hours, even after his vocal cords gave out. He was released from the hospital after overcoming psychosomatic blindness and a refusal to eat. He was told that all of this had been caused by a business deal turned sour, and was torn apart inside. His options were to take his father's path and become just as sick (It was most likely genetic, so why fight it?), or to help those with psychological problems as a way to make up for what his father did. He chose to read every psychology book he could find. His parent's fortune now belonged to him, and he used as much money as he needed to take the psychology exams early and get his degree. The former stay-in servants have become his caretakers. |

[[It doesn't have to be an actual weapon. It can range from a pencil to a bazooka. The weapon itself could have special properties. For example, I'm planning to have Sympathy be a pair of gloves and an enchantment to Isaac's headphones for him to 'hear' the emotions and feelings of others.]] [[Split-personality is OK.]] [[Of course you can have jobs like psychologist and counselor, you can even be a teacher. XD]] [[I guess I should start off, we have more than enough~ :D]] Class starts at 9:30 =================================================== [Kyokkai Academy, Isaac's dorm 8:30] Isaac rose up from his bed still half-asleep as he yawned and rubbed his eyes. "Another day..." Isaac said as he changed his clothes quietly. "Another 'learning experience'." Isaac said as he picked up a book from the top of his desk titled 'Invoking your EGO for dummies'. "...Do I really need that guy?" Isaac asked himself, looking at the book the Principal of the school gave him. "He reminds me so much of... my previous self." Isaac thought as he continued walking along the empty corridor. "...My shallow, blind self..." he continued, opening the book. "I've been here for a month... and I still haven't seen him outside the mirror." Isaac thought as he continued reading the book. "In order to invoke one's EGO, one must ask his EGO how the summoning process works." The book read, Isaac dumbfounded at why the Principal let him borrow such a book. "...I guess I could use the Astral Mirror later." Isaac said, closing the book as he started heading off to the dining hall. "...That dude still gives me creepy vibes though." he said as he started heading down the spiraling stairway that heads off to the dining hall. "But if it's the only way to get rid of this curse... I have no other option." Isaac said, remembering his family and friends as he placed his headphones on his head. "...I've become so distant. So detached from people..." Isaac thought, looking at his mp3 player. "I've got to shut off the world... I don't want to see anyone die before my eyes again." Isaac said. |

---OOC--- @dach: the attitude part, is it our ego's attitude? or the character's attitude? do our ego has a conscious of its own? and do we have a total control of our ego or can it goes beyond our control? I'm in the city because I want to develop my character further, he won't get to see his EGO until later in the mid part of the story ---OOC--- The city is crowded with people, the usual scenery. The road is jammed with cars and motorbikes, and the sidewalk full of people, such is your daily life in the city. Deep within the city, along the smaller roads, there's a bunch of delinquents fighting loudly, and this is also a daily happening, "Stand up, you bastard!!" "Don't kick him on the face koraaa!!!" People looks at them indifferently, some of them ignored those delinquents, some of them looks curiously and then walks again, and some of the spectators were..." "Whatcher lookin at?!" ...told to go away by them... "Kono yaroooooo!!!" Yes, the fight goes on and on, pointlessly... However, they suddenly stopped punching and kicking because of... "Stopstopstop! He's coming! We have to stop this!" "What?!" "Pretend that we're friends and act like nothing happened, okay?!" "Those with serious bruises, hide quick!" It seems that someone or something is coming towards them. Powerful enough to make them shiver and do a peace treaty, "There he is!"

[(OOC: I'm kinda confused over the school fraction thing. How come the characters can be in school fraction, high school to colleage bracket and yet be something other than a student? Can we become anything we want eg: teacher, school doctor, cleaner, etc?)] [Kyokkai Academy, Akiko's room 8:30] Having woke up rather early this morning, Akiko was all prepared and ready to start the day. As she was walking toward her room's door to leave for school, she stopped as if she suddenly remember something. She had forgoten to do her usual practise for the morning. Akiko then walked towards her dressing table, sat down infront of it and put her school bag beside her. Slowly, while looking at her own reflection, she closed her eyes. "Oomizu-chan. Ohayo. How are you feeling today?" Akiko said with her eyes closed. "Ohayo Akiko chan. I'm feeling great this morning! It is just the kind of sunny morning I love." The mirror reflecting Akiko showed Oomizu speaking with a big smile across her face. It was in fact Akiko moving and not just a reflection, but without a mirror, Akiko won't be able to see Oomizu. "How about you Oudou-kun? Feeling good today?" Says Akiko as she regains control over her body. "......" "You should know very well that I hate the things SHE so love. Sunny mornings?! Hell with them! Gloomy days work best for me!" Like Oomizu, Oudou spoke he took over Akiko body. Clearly, he wasn't very happy this morning. "If there is anything we both love.... is you. So don't ever ask me such a stupid question again. Humph!" Oudou said while looking slightly away from the mirror. "Thank you Oudou. That was really sweet." Akiko said with a sweet smile as the gentle but warm rays of sun reflected upon her face. Looking at how is almost time for her to go, she quickly took up her bag and continue her walk towards her door. Akiko would have love to say "itekimasu" to Oomizu and Oudou but since they are always with her, there is no point in such a move. [More about Akiko: Having 2 EGOs that are extreme of her, she is actually a more neutral person while the 2 EGOs are of the 2 extremes. She refers to Oomizu as chan while Oudou as kun becuase they resemblence a female and a male respectively. Both EGOs do not mind her giving them gender differences. In fact, they prefer it as they want to be different from each other. The morning practices are done to understand how the EGOs are feeling that day and also to strengthen Akiko's control over them, which is all to reduce the chances of her going bersake.] |

[Kyokkai Academy, Tekashi's House (lives on island)] Tekashi woke up from another bad dream. Just as well, he had to wake and go to school. It was still a full 15 minutes before his alarm was supposed to wake him, so Tekashi took a little extra effort, shaved, fix eggs, and prepared for school. Once he was ready, Tekashi went out to the garage and got on his motorcycle, revved it up, fastened his helmet, and shot out of there towards school. Tekashi loved being on his motorcycle, with the world rushing by him, and being completely open to the world, he could forget his own woes for a while. |

[[The attitude portion is your character's attitude.]] [[EGO's have a conscience of their own and they can go berserk if not invoked properly (Not meeting requirements, etc.)]] [[The school is ran by the higher-ups. You can get the position of teacher, doctor, professor by their analysis. If they think of you with someone with a high intellect and diligence factor, they will assign you as a teacher. Though technically, you're still a student. Think of it as Extra-curricular activities. All you do is teach the class, give them tests that you yourself also take (but not check).]] ----------------------------- [Dining Hall, 8:40AM] Isaac prepared his own breakfast, eggs and bacon with a glass of milk. Simple, but filling. "Itadekimasu..." Isaac said before he started eating. "...I've gotta clear my conscience..." Isaac thought as he was reminded by a certain quote in the book that he read. "EGOs can be seen through a normal mirror only if you are aware and have acknowledged their existence." Isaac finished eating. He stood up and brought his plate and glass to the sink. "To talk to one's EGO, one must first look into the Astral Mirror. After that, all you have to do is to concentrate." Isaac whispered, repeating a quote in the book as he held onto his headphones. "...Hello, you there?" Isaac said in his head, closing his eyes. "Yeah, of course I'm here." His EGO said in a cheerful voice. "...I don't think I got to know your name..." Isaac said inside his head. "I'm Sympathy, the embodiment of your previous emotions." His EGO replied, introducing himself. "...So, how do I invoke you?" Isaac said, rushing to the subject. "It's pretty simple really... All you have to do is take off your glasses..." Sympathy replied as Isaac was about to take off his glasses. "...And think about others." Sympathy continued, Isaac abruptly pausing as he placed his hand back into its previous position. "...I knew you couldn't do it~" Sympathy said in a taunting voice as Isaac opened his eyes. "That's because you've isolated yourself from everyone, Isaac." Sympathy stated the obvious, Isaac already aware of it. "If you don't do the invocation properly, I could disappear." Sympathy continued, his voice turning serious. "...Our invocation has one of the highest risk involved in just the summoning, remember that." Sympathy said as his voice echoed away. Isaac remained silent as he sat down on a chair in the dining hall, staring blankly into space. |

(OOC: My character goes by his last name.) Snow opened his eyes and rolled over to look at his clock. He smiled and whispered, "I'm late, I'm late! My fur and whis-" *yawn* "Yeah." Today was his first day as the school counselor. Because he was still a student, he would have to go to class, but he would carry a pager so that he could leave whenever he was needed. After a shower, he walked past his mirror and came back. There was his reflection, baring its teeth in a wicked grin. Snow smiled. "Morning, sunshine." "Same to you. I hear you start shrinking heads today." "If I was a shrink, I couldn't have modified your personality, could I?" "Maybe you're just becoming more like me?" "Not a chance, handsome. Now, turn around so I can see how my hair looks in the back." The conversation over, he microwaved four frozen waffles and poured himself some milk. He took about two minutes to eat these and brushed his teeth. He grabbed his bag and walked out the door. |

[Kyokkai Academy, Dining Hall->Mural Wall 8:45] "...Pathetic, isn't it... Symphathy?" Isaac said as he stood up, snapping out of his trance. "...Out of all the students in the school... I'm one of the only people who haven't invoked their EGO yet..." Isaac said as he exited out of the dining hall. "So why don't you invoke me now?" Sympathy said seriously as Isaac started to head off to the place where he spray-paints. "Because... I don't have anyone to think about... I don't have anyone to protect, no one to love, no one to touch, nothing." Isaac said as he glanced upon the long wall that he himself spray-painted. "...All I have... is my art." Isaac said, staring at his work, admiring it as he ran his hands through it. "So find someone to protect, love, touch, et cetera..." Sympathy answered back in a sad tone, Isaac thinking about what Sympathy said. "...Because, that probably means that I have to experience the pain of seeing someone I know die again..." Isaac answered back, lying down on the floor. Isaac partially covered his eyes to block the sunlight as he looked at the sky. "Geez, that's why you're going to protect them... right?" Sympathy said in a happy tone as Isaac froze for a minute before he sat up. "...Maybe... You're right." Isaac finally said, a true and gentle smile appearing on Isaac's face. "But, I've instilled into everyone's minds that I'm merely an anti-social person." Isaac said, standing up. "...Then change that." Sympathy simply said as Isaac froze in place. |
