Morikiri Complex - Modern/Fantasy/Adventure - Open

------RP is now Active! New Characters are Very Welcome!-------

(Note: This is one of the most open-ended RPs I've ever set up... For now, I mostly only have the setting and some shreds of the later plot. So, of course I'm open to hearing suggestions. Anyway, we'll see how this goes ^^; )

Brief Description
Morikiri Complex has been built. It is a behemoth in size, containing enough to comfortably support a large city. However, strange things have been reported; not least of which being that a number of people have been pulled into its depths. The building is very easy to become lost in, and sometimes it almost feels as if it's trying to direct one's movement.
Now, many people live inside the Complex, whether or not by choice
As with any large group of people, conflicts, disagreements, and relationships arise. Supposedly, human conflicts aside, Morikiri should be a wonderful place to live. Finding food and shelter here is not at all a problem. Surviving for more than a month might prove more difficult.
The structure is a beautiful mixture of technology and nature; the mechanical and organic. Some of the long-term visitors, though, are beginning to question the beauty of this. Strange sights and sounds have been observed, rooms seem to move innexplicably, and several people have disappeared completely into the shadows.

(And, here’s the full version of the setting…)

Setting -In the middle of a sprawling city, a fortress-like building spires into the clouds. Morikiri Complex is a state-of-the-art facility in many ways. You could call it a “mall,” but that word falls far short of a fair description. Morikiri is not merely an over-sized shopping district.

The structure itself is a combination of mechanical and biological. The mechanisms that operate, for example, the security system and transportation, run like clockwork. And throughout the immense building, rivers flow (they also periodically flood, and some of the smaller streams dry up.) and gush down waterfalls next to the glass elevators. Trees and vines grow, stretching toward the immense windows.
Each month, it contains enough in the way of necessities and luxuries to sustain a large city for several years. And, in some ways, that is exactly what it does.

As to be expected with such a large building, thousands of people enter it each day, sometimes coming from far-away lands. Mostly, casual visitors remark on the beauty, efficiency, and comfort of the Complex. They enjoy their time spent inside, and generally leave with a smile.

However, there are times, more often than not, when more visitors enter the mall than leave it. It is exceedingly easy to become lost inside and find oneself locked in after closing time.
This, of course, would seem like an obvious safety risk to be addressed by the management. However, it is not seen as such.
It is said in rumors that the Complex takes in only certain people; that these people, for whatever reason, are called for a higher plan. Whose ‘higher plan’ it is, however, is not said.
The executives of the mall smile at these rumors, jovially commenting on the absurdity. They don't complain: why deny something that appeals to the peoples' curiosity? Several safety precautions have been taken though, such as hiring round-the-clock security to maintain the peace.
The Morikiri Complex has now been open for 3 months. In that time, it is theorized that more than 400 people have become “lost,” by accident or by choice, and remain inside the buildings. These people have begun to break apart into factions, worried for their own safety as well as the safety of their new-found friends.

Also, several research teams have ventured inside to gather more information about the surprising data that has been recorded. Now, some of these groups are reporting back startling information, which is meeting with great doubt among scientists on the outside.. There have been reports of “phantom boats” along the waterways, ghostly lights moving gently along the high ceilings, inexplicable movement in unoccupied areas, and much more.
The Complex is indeed a magical place. Luxury drips from every tassel on the higher floors, while mystery seeps through the corridors of the labyrinth-like subway underground. Some people are awed by the beauty, others terrified by the almost-eerie efficiency of this complex that nearly seems conscious.

Will you be drawn into the strange aura of Morikiri? Or will it reach out, grab you, and keep you? There are many secrets here, from the truth behind the Complex’s power-source, to the identity of the shadowy managers and security, to the effect of the building on the world (or perhaps reality) around it.

Morikiri Complex Itself-

(First of all, the number of levels is not set yet… think of Tartarus, if you’ve played Persona 3, with sliiiiightly fewer floors ^^; )

Upper Section - Apartments and lofts overlook the city. The sizes and accommodations range from a bachelor-pad look to a pent-house style.
Middle Section - Innumerable shops dot these floors, selling just about anything imaginable. The staff-members are courteous, eager, and prim. There are several plaza-like areas, with tables and benches in the middle of ponds, bushes, and the occasional grass-walkway. On three of the middle floors, there are stadium-sized arcades, complete with movie theaters, virtual reality, and programs designed to allow people to create custom games.
Lower Section – As the shops progress down to ground-floor, the shops become more densely arranged and more commercial-looking. The Unique melts into the Ordinary, as mass-produced items ready to be sold to the general public. The storage areas also begin to increase, sometimes taking up half a floor as unseen rooms, the entrances of which are tastefully painted over. On the first underground level, a twisting metro runs. It stretches from one end to the other, with several loops in between, of the more than 3 miles of Morikiri.
Below this, still, the Complex continues. Shops of a darker tone set up here. Eventually, the floors turn completely to storage, occasionally disturbed by shop-keepers or brave explorers.
Security – Guards are on patrol every hour of the day. Given the sheer size of Morikiri, there are different squads assigned to different areas. Each squad does not necessarily share similar views with the others. Some have been reported for unwarranted violent behavior.

(Whew, eh…hopefully that made some sense. The technical bits of the Complex’s design aren’t really needed. As long as you can get the atmosphere of sort of…an indoor resort, mixed with a huge metro, mixed with a maze-like mall, it should do fine. ^^;
As I mentioned, this is a very open-ended RP… basically I’m going to try to get some characters settled in, put in a few interesting basic plot points, and add things as we go.)

Rules-
1. Don't be mean/rude to others please.
2. Any RP style is fine. Posts don't have to be a certain length or overly descriptive. As long as you get your ideas across.
3. When RPing, please try to do what is best for the plot/storyline, and not your individual characters (unless the two go hand-in-hand, of course.)
4. Follow the rules of the forum.

Profile Application-

Character name:
Gender:
Age:
Personality:
Appearance:
Hobbies:
Special Skills:

Optional -
Quirks:
Preferred Fighting Style:
Profession:
Relationship to the Complex (if they are already living/trapped inside):
Faction:
(Pre-existing factions:
Guardians- Strict, disciplined, formed for the safety of both faction-members and others.
Hirotsuki- A more laid-back faction of style and elegance. They don't like direct-confrontation and prefer reconnaissance. As in any large city, information sells.)
(If you're interested in forming a faction, let me know.)

(Alright, much of this was typed late at night, when I tend to ramble...Sorry if bits of it aren't coherent or are repeated too often. I'll probably trim/edit it later.)

Characters-

RPer: izumihikari (myself)
Character name: Harumi Mizumori
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Personality: Cheerful, intelligent, generally trusts people very easily. She enjoys helping others (sometimes even when they say they don't want it.)
Appearance: Her hair, dark brown, flows down to her lower back in waves. Her dark brown eyes, which appear nearly black from a distance, glitter in even the smallest light. In terms of clothing, she generally prefers darker colors: blacks, greens, blues, purples. She's not too concerned as to the current "style," and will wear things that she finds comfortable.
Hobbies: Drawing, storytelling, singing (though her notes have been known to scare away local wildlife...), helping others.
Special Skills: Her eyes, though it's unusual for such dark colored ones, are more sensitive than normal to bright lights. Along with this, though, she is able to see relatively well in dark places.
Quirks: Harumi enjoys creative activities, but this sometimes leads her to conflicts. Sometimes the stories that she tells are told so convincingly that she once got an entire classroom of 20 people to really think that the school had been transported to an alternate dimension. Her imagination can be difficult to hold back.
Preferred Fighting Style: The only fighting style she is trained in is Aikido, a defense martial art. However, she is rather proficient in this field.
Profession: None/Student
Relationship to the Complex: She entered three days ago as a visitor and has been unable to leave since.

Suzume Kyome
Hibari Tsunayoshi
Kenji Kurayami

Reiji Namata
Enrica Tranquillo

(Hooray, our first reporter/researcher character! ^^ Welcome, to each of you. And now, I shall enter...)
The young girl trudged slowly down the hallway, a hand-drawn map held limply in her fingers. Up ahead, a sign flashed the cheery message "Kuroudo Candy!" in neon green.
Harumi stopped and stared at the sign. She looked down at the map. Up at the sign, back at the map.
There was a brief pause. Then, "Aaggh!" echoed across the corridor. "How can I be back at this sign?! This is the third time," the girl said as she slumped to her knees.
"A maze...this place," she mumbled to herself, staring at the map. One hand vaguly twirled a few strands of hair, as a finger traced lines along the map. "I took a different hallway, though. I should be over there by now..." And she went on mumbling for some time.

Three days inside Morikiri. The first night she realized she was lost inside, it seemed novel and exciting. The second night, she began to get worried. Now, that worry had changed to frustration.
Who would design a building with such a confusing floorplan?! It was almost as if the rooms moved!

Suzume walked into an elevator. She pressed a floor number. Suzume's brown hair was pulled gently by a gentle breeze. She looked out of the glass elevator as it came down slowly. The Morikori Complex never stopped amazing Suzume, it was a haven, but to get lost would make it hell, She had been in the complex for one week now and had already gotten lost three times, but her map seemed to save her each time. 'TING!' The elevator had arrived. "This is my floor.." Suzume mumbled, walking out.

She whipped out her map (given to her when she got a job in the Morikori) and started walking down a hallway. She noticed a girl in front of 'Kuroudo Candy!' "'Scuse me, but did you get lost? My name is Suzume Kyome and I'm willing to point you in the right direction if you are lost."

Hibari was patrolling the mirikori complex. his love for this place had caused him to be over protective of it and he knew the whole complex by heart. He was on the floor above his bookstore searching for the usual trouble makers of the night .

" this is getting boring but its better than weaklings coming in and out as they please" he said

He looked over some banisters and saw Suzume

"is she still lost, i wish s omeone would take care of her " he sighed

Hibari continued to walked around the floor

At the sound of Suzume's voice, Harumi looked up. "Ah...you...would?" she managed, standing up slowly. She quickly straightened the folds of her skirt, the light material gently shifting so that it hung casually from her hips. A grin soon broke across her face. "You're the first person I've run into in a day, haha. I got lost in the underground levels for a while..." she said, carefully folding her hand-drawn map and stuffing it into a pocket. "Could you...direct me to the main offices on the," she paused to think "42nd floor?"

Reiji was walking back from the river, he had no luck again tonight. His lucky charms weren't having very much affect this week. But maybe they were, noone has confronted him about him "inviting" himself to stay. He's been pretty much been alone, and in his book, that's a little bit of good luck, though company would always be nice, especially some of the fairer sex.

*Bit of drool starts to form, but soon he hears voices and snaps out of it*

Reiji quickly but quietly rushed over, he stopped at a corner and took a mirror to look around the corner. Not only were there some people, there were girls. Pretty good looking ones at that. One was obviously in in charge of the conversation, she was pointing at a fold up map and explaining something he couldn't quite hear. Reiji took out his camera, laid prone and peeked around the corner with the camera and zoomed in on the map itself. Looks like she was explaining how to exit... interesting, there were passages on her map that weren't on the display just above them, and thus, not on his picture of that display. He waited til he had a clean shot without fingers, and snapped a photo. Of course, he then went on to snap a few shots of the ladies looking at the thing. Reiji then looks up from his camera and looks around for anything else.

Reiji notices a figure up a few stories. Again, using the zoom on his camera, he saw a young looking black haired individual looking fairly serious. Either way, he snapped a photo of this guy, he looked like he enjoyed some authority, and knowing who is in charge is always a good idea. Reiji then went back to looking at the females, the sight was infinately more pleasant. Reiji then kissed his rabbit foot for giving him such an enjoyable sight.

[Bookstore]

Two people were seen at a lonely bookstore...Well..More like a library than a bookstore. One with White hair and the other with Brown hair and glasses. As the white haired person waves and leaves the counter the brown haired guy closed his eyes.

"Another boring day,huh.." he said as he leaned on the counter and sighed.

He kept that position for a couple of minutes then he yawned.

"Wish it were night again." he said as he put his hand on his face and covered his right eye.

Then the door opened.

"Welcome to the Bookstore,How may I...Oh its just you. So?What do you want here?" he said to a man that entered the room wearing a long black trench coat and glasses.

"Kenji,About your swords.Ive finished repairs and Ill put them in the usual place.Thats all." He said as he left.

"Tch..Not even a word of Hello." Kenji said as he sat on the counter and yawned again.

"Another boring day..." He repeated to himself.

Suzume smiled and took a peek at Harumi's map. "No wonder you're lost, this map is wrong." Suzume got out her map. "See? Anyway, to get to the office you want, you need to go up the elevator and take a few turns. If you want me to direct you, I've got some time before my work shift starts." Suzume pointed to a building which had the words 'MINI MART.' on it. "I work there. If you ever need me at all, you can find me there most of the time."

Harumi smiled more broadly, her eyes following Suzume's finger to the Mini Mart. "Great. I'll probably be stopping by a lot," she said, with an awkward laugh. "Eh, if you do have time to show me to the offices, I'd really apreciate it." She bowed slightly in respect.

As the two were talking, she had heard a few quiet noises, nearly on the edge of perception. They sounded like the patient clicking of a camera, but when she looked around, no one was in sight. After dismissing this odd feeling of being watched, she began to walk toward the elevator.

Suzume followed Harumi to the elevator and pressed the button. "So, are you living in the Morikori complex, or just visiting?" Suzume asked, the elevator sqeaking its way down.

Suzume watched the elevator descend down, towards them. It had arrived.

"Eh, well..." she began, staring out from the glass elevator as they gently began to move. "That's what I'm going to the offices to sort out. I've been here for three days, but...not on purpose, haha." She leaned back against one of the invisible walls, continuing to look out as more of the complex came into view. "I was asked to come here...it was rather odd. Eh, anyway, I got lost while looking for the 42nd floor and I've been wandering around since. Do you live here?"
Harumi paused, and then blushed slightly. "Oh! I haven't introduced myself...my name is Harumi Mizumori."

He saw as the girl that was explaining the directions pointed at the Mini Mart, since this was definately not on the way to the exit she had just been explaining, it must be a place of interest, *click*. Then they both got up and reached the glass elevator. They both entered the glass elevator and hit the number for one of the floors and they started upward. And more and more of their... legs... came into view and Reiji started to take a few more photos, and a bit of drool was starting to form at Reiji's mouth. However, once they were outta sight, Reiji pulled back around the corner, stood up, and started to make his way to the the nearest photo shop.
