What's bad about Final Fantasy 9?

I've been going through the whole forum and it seems that many of you guys HATE Final Fantasy 9... Might I ask why? I personally love Final Fantasy 9... Just wanna find out why u ppl hate FF9... graphics? gameplay? or..?  |

though i still play my PS1 up to now i still havent played that game but i knda dont like d charachter theyre a little wierd and well Little. but my friends (FF ADICTS) say dat FF9 was ok But For me Final Fantasy 7 and Tactics are d BEST If anyone has played hoshigami reuning blue earth it's kinda like FF tactics and its cool hehehehe dats all.

| some people are just haters and truly can't appreciate a good game, I can bet you the #1 reason they say they don't like FF9 is because it went back to old school FF w/ just one hit attacks |

I actually loved FF9 i just didnt like how zidane was a monkey boy.. I loved the music tracks "Terra" was the best music track The graphics were almost the same as 8 but the cutscenes were a wee bit better especially the fight between Bahamut and forgot name but looks like a moving castle robot? well the part where you get summons was a little better then doing those sidequest where you have to do puzzles and fight the gf to get them.  |

| I reason I didn't like 9 as much as the other ff 7-10 was that i thought that the graphics of ff8 were better and that the game received a downgrade. Well it's not a bad game at all and still among the better rpgs out there. I think the thing that ruin the game for me was that the main character was a short monkey boy named Zidane. Always better to have a main character who's tall and got a large sword...lol |

| FF9 was cool.. it had a lot of content, like the multiple endings. For one reason or another, I never really got into it. maybe it was how kuja looked... 0.o |

Multiple ending? How come i always end up with one ending? How do you get the other endings? Aniwae pat the castle's name is Alexandria... It was kinda funny how you described it as a moving castle robot... haha |

| Getting the other endings had to do with seeing different events when you get the choice, or a certain sequence of events.... I think there were four, like one bad, two ok and one very good. Dun know which choices lead to what endings though. That stuff would be on gamefaqs.com. |

| I loved 9, I thought it was an amazing game. Of course, my all-time favorite Final Fantasy game is 6, and I've noticed that the folks that tend to prefer the oldschool FFs like 9 while the ones that usually like the newer ones don't. To each his own, I guess. |

Of all FF i played on Ps1 ( FF4,5,6,7,8,9,tactics) I prefer FF09 I love this game... The characters are cool,the storyline marvelous, and the graphic wonderful (for that time... People who compare those graphic to today's graphic are really STUPID and even more ***) |

| I like the fact that FFIX had a trance system,and u can use it more than once.The card games were fun,and the card system was much better than FF8.I also liked the fact that Zidane can use 2 variety of weapons,the thief swords and the daggers.The bad things were that some boss fights were impossibly hard...(Tantarian,OZMA).Also it was more funnier than the other FFs. |

| I can't believe that not many people like 9!!! FF 9 was my favorite of the series! Lots of people'll yell at me for saying this, but I think 7 is my least favorite. Well maybe not. Second least favorite (I think I dislike 8 more). I couldn't really say why. Maybe it was a plot thing, but I love 9! Kuja's my favorite!!!!! ^_^ I'm not saying I hate 7....I love Sephiroth, but I never really got into it. |

FF9 is the 1st FF series that i have finished...i played 7 and 8 but i'm just so lazy to finish it. besides i already know what will happen to them because of my brother!^_^ The best thing in FF 9 was the CARD GAME!!!it was awesome!!! i helped my brother collect all of the cards! (because i accidentally deleted my file w/c sucks! -_-) but it was an acheivement for me because i was the one who collected it all. I'm a master at that card game... Zidane was cool for me but Steiner isn't...he's too noisy! heheh LOL for me 9 was easier than everything else...  ^_^v PEACE OUT! |

FF IX is probably the second best FF, after VI, IMO. The music, characters, villian, story... nearly everything was perfect~! I guess the mainstream didn't like it as much as VII and VIII is because it went back to its fantasy roots. Most people just seem to dig the futuristic themed FF's more. I don't know how to really elaborate on it, though. |

With FF 9 there is no contest with FF7. But although it was THE best FF, Final Fantasy 9 was pretty good too I loved that game I'm a fan! But one thing that anoyed me was the regular graphics they were a bit scratchy. The focused on the FMV's instead of the actual gameplay, but, they're the professionals so can't argue with that.

I believe the basic reason some gamers may not appreciate FF9 is its deviation from the futuristic appeal of presiding series such as FF7 as many of you have discussed. Personally I find no faults in FF9, the battle system was smooth, fast and unpretentious. The characters were likeable and the music was decent (thanks to Mr.Uematsu)...Some complaints I've heard point to the fact that Zidane did not have as much appeal as earlier characters like Cloud...That's hardly an excuse for criticising the game. I haven't heard a single complaint that would seriously put FF9 in a bad light.

i like ff9. that was more or less the 1st final fantasy game i played and finished. i like it...nothing like the other final fantasy games. garnet looked like the younger version of rinoa. to think they are of the same age. how strange. i like the battle system, the story...everything. nothing much to complain about |

I love FF9. I've played 7 and 8, but 9 is still my favorite. I don't understand why people dislike it either, though I've heard a lot of people dislike it because it "rips off" from the other FF games. Silly, since it's made by the same company and creator. X_X Anyway, I think it really deserves more credit than it got. I think it's terribly underrated. Any Quina lovers? She's probably one of the most underrated characters in the FF game. But she can be really deadly if you train her right. ^_^ my Quina's frog drop hits for 9,999 damage each time. And that's weak? |

| I knew one person whose grades literally dropped like a rock when he first bought Tactics for PS. Another thing why some people (not me) didn't like FF9 was because the characters looked like kids! I didn't see anything wrong with that! I've never played it, but I heard the character design was really well done, because every character has something to do with each other. |
