Why not? Children need a lot of discipline to ensure they become good people in the future. This discipline can be instilled in the school by making them conform to rules of dress.

About not wearing school uniform ...

If I agree , why ... :

We will be able to dress differently , telling us what kind of person we are , and we're different from the rest . The way we look is also one type of comunication which allows us to know the person just by it's look .

If I disagree , why ... :

There are people that like to dress ..... weirdly . Some might dress up like a punk . Not just that , there are people who like to dress up based on what they like , which in the education point of view , what they like is bad , like rocker or heavy metal outfit , celebrity-wannabe-look-like , and even wearing costumes derieved from Japanese manga and American comicbooks . There are a few people who're bad at self-looks , and there are much fewer people who'll go to the extreme and ... get naked =_=* .

Depends on the school. I had to wear uniform mostly in elem. school
and in middle school before moving out here in eighth grade.

I like dressing how I dress.
Seeing anime uniforms though, I wouldn't mind wearing on all the time, haha. D:<

I totally approve of checkered skirts for the girls (like, in catholic schools, etc.). :3
Actually, uniforms for girls have always been better than the guys. D:

Uniforms are used to convey equality, I guess. =.=

My HS used to have washday Wednesday, but it was abolished because of the stereotypical teen hierarchy.
(and that was just 1day/week) D:
Clothes can show if you have the financial capability or not.
Apparently, that promotes disunity, wasteful spending and excessive pride.
In other cases, it could also seriously damage a student's ego. XP
At least that's what they said. ~___~

Uniforms making people more equal is a lot of bull. Reason.... If someone hates you and wants to pick on you, they will find lots of reasons. True if you take out the clothes it's one thing gone. But looks, music tastes, what kind of car you drive, grades, etc. It doesn't do crap. In fact is some cases it helps kids rebel more.

i personly dont like uniforms but looking at it logically it has its pros and cons.like Rin said it shows equallity even when its not true(i.e.financial standings),but then it dosent give us the freedom of choice and then with out the freedom of choice what do we have left nothing but conformity until someone decides to break free or take advantage of it(i.e.a person with dictator like philosophies) maybe im taking this a little to far but think about it and you will probly find it true

Depends what school students go to (duh).
I think the only best thing about wearing uniforms to school is you DON'T have to think so much what to wear. I think this is the only simplest thing of discipline that students would find it fair enough.
If this particular school wants each student to wear the uniform, hey, wear uniform. How simple that rule is. It's hardly a rule that has negative forcefulness in it... but I guess some students rebel against that. Who wants to be in trouble for breaking the uniform code? It won't worth anything! It's like you think adding this and remove that to the uniform makes things more prettier and unique to yourself--- that uniform is already the full set! You don't have to think so much! It shows that you go to that school, fine. It's just a damn school!
Never ever break that rule. It's not worth it.

Definitely no way, if I don't want uniforms, why can't they just leave me? And uniforms don't make learning any easier, and uniforms should not be a hindrance to learning..

I believe that students shouldn't be forced to wear uniforms. Actually, the government tried to apply a law like this last year in my country and they had to abandon this idea because of the students' and their parents' protests.
I mean, everybody has the right to express themselves and the clothing is one of the things that allow to do so. If everybody looked the same, it'd be like a vision of totalitary system with a mass of identic people...
Ok, I know that the uniforms allow to deny the differences in the material status of pupils and make them concentrate on the learning instead of the appearance, but for Gods' sake... It'd too dull and boring to wear the same thing throughout the whole schoolyear...

No way! I'd never ever wear a skirt like that... If I had to, I'd prefer to wear a guy's uniform... Fortunately, the uniforms are obligatory only in the elementary school and some of the colleges/middle schools? (anyway, that thing between the elementary school and the HS)

in my opinion of course, students shouldn't be force to wear uniforms. And the thing about wearing uniforms are also depends on the school you choose to attend. Mostly private school are required to wear uniforms, and like those school in asian. It just mostly a requirement from a certain school. If you don't like to wear uniforms then choose your school wisely. Its all your decision wether to wear it or not.

I think it depends. you could have kids that dress inapropriately. this could mean anything from way short skirt to way low-risen top; even a message on a T-shirt. Depending on the situation, it may be a good idea. but I don't think that some schools should use uniforms, while in the next town, city, district, I don't care; have their everyday attire to wear. I'd say all or none, really. For instance, my cousin wears a uniform[I don't], yet our schools are super close and it makes her so mad.

But if you go to private school, it may be to show you go there, or to show your school is prestigious. that could also be argued, so I don't know. and sometimes (very randomly) our schoolboard says they're thinking about giving our district uniforms, and never do. but, alot of the schools surrounding my district have switched over to uniforms. that really bothers me.(but then again some of the neighborhoods are...let's say...questionable...)

How should i say?
If you don't force to use uniform It is Obvious almost NO one will use it. Even thinking that is quite usefull use uniform XD
I know that cause in my school i almost didn't use it. Onlly in the primary school i was forced to use uniform. And the truth is that you spend much much more your favorite clothes when you don't have a uniform to go to the school.
SO in my opinion Uniform is quite good but no one use if you don't force to use it XD. Them Yes schools should force the stuednts to wear uniform. Not thinking that the uniform will represent and show to everyone where you study, but it is a way to
keep your good clothes in a good state XD

Wearing uniform only signifies one's belongingness to a certain public or private schools. One can be proud of if he/she belongs to elite class, as for those at the lower level- its different.
Wearing uniform is not bad- actually its good in a way that it shows discipline and neatness in the school.
But if this uniform will be the only requirement so you can enter the school- it will be really bad.
For me, the main priority in school nmust be to learn not to wear uniforms.
I experienced this during highschool. Students with no uniform are not allowed to enter the gate!!!!
It's really unfair for those students who really want to attend class without a uniform because of some financial reasons.
What do you think?

I think wearing school uniforms on a certain day would be a good idea. like to show school spirit. that way people would be motivated (if they have pride in their school) to wear their uniform. certain events would also qualify. but a normal day, nah.

I don't see the problem with uniforms.
I don't have to wear them, but if I had to, it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

There are picky people who like their own clothes and refuse to wear some lame outfit that an adult picked out for them. it's all about non-comformity and rebellion :D

Well, school is certainly not a fashion ground. Parents send us to school to discipline us. In that case, we need the uniforms. Besides, there are kids who can't buy expensive clothes like the other richer kids at school. The school uniform helps the kids appear as equals. So the poorer kid can participate classes with confidence.

it depends on the location. certainly one would not force uniforms just because 3 students are poor and the rest are wealthy. and school is NOT a fashion ground. in fact, quite an amount of the kids at any typical school just wear what they like. only the socials really care that much.
