Okay, yes, I know, 98me was the worst OS ever released, but hey, it was free, so why not. After cleaning everything I could off the compy, this little message came up - An exception 0E has occurred at 0028:C29E7163 in VxD tnet1130(01) + 00002F03. This was called from 0028:C001D324 in VxD NDIS(01) + 00005AA0. It may be possible to continue normally. - After about an hour of googling, I had almost nothing, literally. So here would be my next stop. I figured this might have better luck than the PB question I asked earlier. It's a custom-built compaq presario. I have a hunch from the barely something I did find googling that it's the wireless card installed on this thing. It seemed to run fine after I continued, so who knows what happened. If its fixable, that's great, and thanks for the help. If not, I'd still appreciate an answer. I've been iching to bash and batter a 98me compy after being forced to deal with one in my early compy years...  |

ah the power of Windows 98 i remember it BSoD on me when i tried to install Microsoft Encarta and locks-up for a solid 5 minutes when i boot up IE and this was on a fresh install. I'd say just put XP on that sucker if a computer can use 98 it can use XP.  |

Would that work? It has 64mb system memory... (and a 700MHz processor) My friend at IT (taking classes) said it didn't have enough to run XP. Edit: I think it is the card. Its the only device that this compy can use to hook up to the net, and internet wouldn't fuction after the error. Restarting it fixed the problem. Since my first personal compy that has XP is my primary net machine, I can probably use this for a linux practice girl... Looks like the old bat narrowly escaped a beating, and the computer's lucky too, heh heh... |
