Thoughts of Anime Being Part of Hollywood.
|
| Well, I'm sure a lot of people already know the coming of a Speed Racer movie and now an Akira movie sometime in the near future. Last night, I watched the Speed Racer trailer and it just hit me how butchered it's going to be compared to the original thing. I mean, I know movies nowadays face lots of pressure to break even with production cost, but simply using the name of an Anime to get attention is pretty offensive and bull****. It's like back in the days when FF: Spirits Within came out. I went to watch a piece of ass for $7.50, and the funny thing is I remember Ebert and Roper giving it "two thumbs up". |

well, Who said that they were trying to rip anime off? I will agree that anime doesn't exactly belong in holywood, but still. Live action movies aren't uncommon in japan, so maybe america is just trying to make an english one. In my opinion, I'd rather just watch the anime. but people will do what they want. Sorry for a crappy response Quack

Live action movies reach a wider audience than anime. Plus, it looks good, to see your fave characters come alive. |

I suppose it depends, it's not for everyones taste. It's like when they make films from comic books. Some films manage to make it work, others suck completely. For example: 300, possibly the best film ever made. The entire film is straight out of the comic book, right down to the lighting and the way it all comes together on screen. If it was done any other way it would have sucked. Then we have all the marvel films. Good films and some are downright awesome (The Punisher). But it's just not the same. Plus you can get some seriously crap films like Elektra (OMG wtf happened there!?) |

No not THAT again. You're trying to put two topics similar with one another just because they have the words " Anime" and "Live Action" together? lol? You're joking right? Completely different ideas. I don't care what your favorite/want to see live action is nor do I care what you don't like. You miss the point if that's the concern you have when you post. |

Then what are you getting at? They used a popular title and made a crappy movie... I didn't post about what I "liked" in the past thread... I posted on how I hated Hollywood used Anime and Games to attract audiences... "Almost blasphemy to think of even making a Hollywood movie based on an Anime show... Because it will probably end up as bad as how they make 99% of Game to Hollywood movies... That Hollywood DBZ movie reeks of fail... and that Tekken movie? already a failure... Hollywood seems to have acquired The Uwe Virus.. " ![]() Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |

| Good, then I don't understand why you linked to that other topic and said " this again?" since the intention of that topic was different than this one. |
