Well, i have a suggestion to make but there isn't a forum for suggestions. I also didnt find anything in the FAQ about it. Anyway, here i go. ================================================== My first suggestion is to have a search option that allows u to search for the exact name, without additional words. This is especially useful when i know the exact name of the song/artist/anime and this particular name is short or commonly used in other songs. For example, i'm looking for the song "Life" by "YUI". However, there are a number of songs with the word "Life" in it. Also, there are at least 3 artists i know of with a name containing "Yui". This will be especially useful for looking for Gundam (the original 0079) songs. It's because when i look for gundam, the search results will give me the songs from all of the (over 10) gundam series. So if i had an option allowing me to search purely for "gundam" with no additional words, it would be very helpful. ================================================== My second suggestion is to set up a volunteer group to look through the music files and correct/standardise the tags within it. This is because the user-submitted music may contain tags (within the file) are errorneous. When i play an mp3 using Windows Media Player, i'll go to "Media Library", right click on the file and select "Advanced Tag Editor". After that, i will edit the following in this format: --------------- Title -> [Anime Name] - [Song Name] Genre -> Anime Track Number -> I remove this usually since its rather useless. Album -> [Original Album Name] - Track #[Track Number] Artist -> [Artist Name, the person who sang it] Orchestra or Band -> I usually leave this blank. Conductor -> I usually leave this blank. Original Artist -> I usually leave this blank. Lyricist -> I usually leave this blank. Original Lyricists-> I usually leave this blank. Composer-> I usually leave this blank. Comments -> [Anime Name] [Opening/Ending/Insert #X]- [Song Name] --------------- For exmaple Title -> Bleach - Houki Boshi Genre -> Anime Track Number -> {I left this blank.} Album -> "Houki Boshi" Single - Track #1 Artist -> Younha Orchestra or Band -> {I left this blank.} Conductor -> {I left this blank.} Original Artist -> {I left this blank.} Lyricist -> {I left this blank.} Original Lyricists-> {I left this blank.} Composer-> {I left this blank.} Comments [Tab] Language -> Japanese[ja] Text -> Bleach Ending 3- Houki Boshi --------------- This may be overwhelming for one person to do, so that's why im suggesting a group of volunteers. For a start, I'll volunteer to do the songs for the anime i know of. ================================================== My third suggestion is to set up a volunteer group to look out for music that's "too soft" and replace them with better quality ones so that all the music will be about the same volume. For exmaple, when i turn the volume level down to a particular threshold level, i can hear Song A, B and C but Song D is too soft and i can't hear it. If i turn the volume up so that i can hear Song D, then Song A, B and C will be way too loud. In this case, song D is "too soft". ================================================== I hope my suggestions are useful. |

1. It used to be that way. I have come to the conclusion that the cost of extra interface complexity outweighs the benefit of this feature. There are several tricks to looking up songs. In the case of your first example query, I have added a special hint so that a search for life yui will show these entries. For the second example, you can sort by anime title and quickly find the page containing what you're looking for like this. I will, however, consider making an "advanced search" feature. 2. I do have a plan to normalize the ID3 tags, but it is de-prioritized at the moment. There is a tool called LAME which can edit ID3 tags. I can write a program to go through the directory where all the mp3 files are stored, and re-write their ID3 tags. This is dangerous, as a mistake could accidentally erase or corrupt some or all of the files in that directory. This is one of the reasons for my hesitation. I hear that this is important to you, and will reconsider prioritization of this project. |

Because of the Loudness War, the industry standard for volume increases over time. Since CDs are digital, the volume is specific, and is preserved when a track is ripped. This means two things: 1. There is no "softer" version, at least no official one. 2. The softer songs are actually higher quality, for more information see the above link. I do not plan to do anything to address this problem, as it is an industry wide problem. However, the listener can use music player programs that have automatic volume adjustment built in, such as iTunes. please make all further suggestions here instead of creating many new threads |

hmm.. my suggestion is : - use an UTF-8 text for id3-v2 title and information - convert SHIFT-JIS character on some MP3 files to UTF-8

The new ID3 tags do use UTF-8 (to my knowledge) and have no SHIFT-JIS characters in them. |

I have some idea... - Put a simple emoticon like in chat in forum session - Put a gender icon, at least it's safe rather than write "she/he/it" in forum - Show Timeout in the D/L page as fast as we clicked one song link - Show a warning in page immideatly if user accidently D/L via Download Manager... that's my idea... and I hope its good idea... thanks for the answer... sorry for miss typ... |

1. this is already possible with HTML, are you suggesting adding an insert smilies table? seems like needless interface bloat to me. if you mean to suggest post processing of the post body to replace /lol with the image? that would be quite processor intensive. the forums are already a server-crippling feature as they are. 2. this is an issue of privacy. if someone want's to make their gender known, they have ample places to do this (profile about-me section, signature, or in their nickname). seems to me that adding a field to choose gender amounts to needless interface bloat. 3. what do you mean? show a 4 second cool-down? again, seems like needless and potentially confusing interface bloat to me. just count 4 mississippi. XD 4. if i could detect such a situation accurately, i would already be doing so!!! if you have specific language you would have me put on the flooding message, let's hear it. i've done my best making the error messages helpful. |

Hi! Just a thought..so here is also my suggestion: 1.Viewing your network..the friends added and the people who added you..yeah there's a link where you can see who you added but you don't know the ones who added you.Can there be a link to that?So you'd know who added you? Also both will have like a list of friends you added and who added you. there's a link to each of them so you can see and click to see their profile or if you want to send a message..easy access.Oh am I asking too much? hehe sorry..again just a thought.So.. anyway even not doing this,it would be fine. Yeah probably the ones you added, added you also..oh well.Never mind. That's all..I'll think of something more interesting to suggest when I get some cool idea.Thank you.Anyway the site is cool as it is.What to add? hmm..anyway bye.

Something I was thinking about: In the chat you have a "number of people in the chat/total number of people possible" in the upper right hand corner so users know what is going on with the chat. My suggestion, could that information be available outside the chat itself, like maybe on the chat button in the nav. bar? This way, you don't have people (and me xD) trying to mindlessly clicking "chat" over and over, trying to get in. |

@kikyo: for technical reasons, this is not plausible. @Terror: this information cannot be generated outside the chat, and a description is already available in the /help. |
