Download method suggestion.
|
I have read over the rules and most of them are trying to stop high bandwidth costs. So I thought I would throw in an idea. As new people come to the site they notice the vast amount of songs available to them to download. With a limit of 100 songs per person a day this is not enough for the high end user so when they hit the 100 download mark they do not want to wait 24hours so they make a second account or third account and continue downloading from where they left off. Right now there is 4572 songs listed that would take 46 accounts to download or 46days of downloading with 1 account. I bet some people even have 5 accounts or more. When you have downloaded the songs you want you leave and you also leave a mess of accounts for the website hosts to clean up or to clog up the server. I propose that you implement a private bittorrent tracker and allow people to download albums or the entire library of songs hosted. This will lift the bandwidth problem and cut costs of hosting the site. Most bittorrent clients allow you to select what you want to download so you won’t need to download everything you get the few songs you want. I'd like to hear your thoughts or if I have missed something please tell me. Edit: I forgot to mention with the amount of songs I have downloaded with the ends cut off its annoying to have to find that song again have to wait a day to get it fixed and download it, it bittorrent was in place I could just recheck and it would fix any corrupt parts in the song/s. |

The title asks for suggestions. I suggest you follow the rules and be happy. What you call "the high end user" I call the uncommon case. Computer systems are designed to perform best in the common case. I could care less that you're only able to download 100 songs per day. Boo-fucking-hoo, cry me a god damn river you whiney leech! Why don't you donate first, then tell me what you'd like me to do. Be honest, Bessy, you aren't "throwing in an idea", you are being passive aggressive. If you wanted to give ME an idea, you'd have sent ME a message directly. No, what you really wanted is to get people to back you up, like it would make some difference. Far less than one percent of users run into the 100 songs per day limit. It is a good damn system. If you don't like it, don't use it. Nobody's forcing you to use this website! The rules clearly state: no multiple accounts. Users who create multiple accounts will be banned. Bessy here has been banned for this very reason, as an example. Your proposition for a bittorrent tracker has been made many times before. I will reiterate that the purpose of this site is to allow users to download songs via HTTP. You will never see a tracker on this website. Ever. Go make your own tracker if you care so much about efficiency. If your downloads are cut off, the problem is definitely on your end. There is nothing that can be done on the server side to fix a faulty client side connection. |
