Marry me
|
1st Chapter “Your Highness, with all due respect it’s almost time for you to marry. And you’ve been here just sulking about your father’s death. You must find someone at once.†The young boy looked at him with disgust, “How am I supposed to find someone when my father has just been murdered! How could I possibly fall in love in three months! Are you simply telling me to forget everything and marry?" “Yes sir and it is not about love. Your highness, it is your duty.†He stood there with no expression and just looked at the boy. Natsume Hyuuga was clearly livid. His eyes were as cold as ever. But deep inside he knew that the man was right. It was Natsume’s duty. By that thought he became calm and looked out the window. Outside the castle he could see rain falling from the sky and the grave of his parents was just there in the garden. He couldn’t bear the pain. He was now alone; the only people who raised him with love are now dead. “Paul, prepare my horse. I’m going out.†He demanded. He grabbed Natsume’s arm and told him, “Your Highness, it is obviously raining outside. We can’t let you have a cold. You have plenty of meetings to attend for tomorrow. Sir the man who murdered your father might just be outside waiting to kill you.†“No, don’t stop me. I can take care of myself.†And with that, he stormed out of the room. His guardian watched him and was worried. Paul, Natsume’s close friend and guardian, was now in his thirties and was born to protect the young prince. In secret, he cared for Natsume like his own son. Snapping back to his senses, he ran after Natsume. e The sound of the rain was beautiful. The wind made the atmosphere cold. Mikan hugged her knees while sitting down under a big oak tree. She was now 14 years old and she too has no family. Except, well, she’s a pauper. The orphanage threw her out for she was old enough to get a job. She was soaking wet and was shivering. She was reminiscing about her grandfather who took care of her, until he died from old age when Mikan was just nine. But for some reason, she was always smiling. She looked up and saw the enormous castle, “It must be nice to live there. Lots of food to eat and I won’t be worrying about anything.†Then, her stomach protested. She was hungry. Mikan laughed and just told herself, “Right now, I’m eating fried chicken. It’s really delicious and crispy too. Now, I’m eating curry. Sweet curry. I’m also eating Ice cream pie. My favorite dessert, ice cream pie.†A tear suddenly fell down her face. Thinking of nice things won’t be able to help her. She knew she needed a job to keep her alive. Any job would do. She sighed, “Yeah, if only I lived in that big castle. If I did I would be eating lot’s of good food.†After a while she turned dizzy and she started sweating. She caught a cold and now she had a fever. “Why do I have to get sick at a time like this?†She heard someone coming and in a flash, a man who had raven hair and piercing red eyes on a black horse stood in front of her. Lighting struck and there was silence. He looked as though he was royalty or something. He was also wet from the cold rain. They were there staring at each other. e While the boy was outside the garden riding his horse, in a distance he saw a girl. She didn’t seem familiar to him. He assumed that she was a new maid. He went closer and saw her vividly. She was sitting down under the big tree that he favored. She had brunette hair and brown eyes. Her lips were pure red and she looked like the most beautiful girl in the whole village. She looked happy but her eyes told him she was depressed. He ran to her and for minutes they just stared at each other. When he became brave he spoke and said, “Who are you and what are you doing here?†A smile was on her face and she answered, “Isn’t it obvious? It’s raining and I came here for shelter. By the way, my name’s Mikan. How about you?†He was a bit insulted but was happy she could treat him like a normal person. He couldn’t believe she didn’t know who he was. “My name is Natsume Hyuuga. Are you a maid here? Or maybe a gardener?†She stood up and stretched out her hand, “It’s nice meeting you Natsume. Well, I don’t work here. I just got lost on my way to the market and it started raining. So, I ran for shelter.†“Oh, would you like to spend the night in my home? A young lady like you shouldn’t be here alone.†He answered while shaking her hand. e She looked doubtful but then she had no choice. She has no family to turn to and he looked like a really nice guy. All she could do was trust him. “Well, I have no place to go so I guess I could stay for the night.†She gave him another smile and fainted.
