Ive seen some anime that never gets licensed like "Yakitate! japan" it's one of my personal favorites and thought they were much as fun as the other ones that do get licensed. Do they get licensed to make the dvd's and toys and stuff? Or does it mean they got more ratings than others to get it licensed? what are some of your favorite anime that didnt get licensed yet or never will? |

First of all, your topic title is a bit misleading. Do they get licensed to make the dvd's and toys and stuff? I believe licensing is to officially release the anime out of Japan. So yeah, it could be to release the DVD/air the anime on TV, but dunno if you actually need licensing to distribute the stuffs. Or does it mean they got more ratings than others to get it licensed? Isn't it sensible if an anime distributor company wants to make profit by distributing popular anime titles? It's not necessarily needed to get an anime licensed though. what are some of your favorite anime that didnt get licensed yet or never will? You can't really say if an anime "will never be licensed". The licensing could be really late, but there's still possibility that it will be. I do have some anime titles that I like, but I have abandoned the hope of it getting licensed since it looks so unpopular. |

Nope. Viz did dubbed Bleach and Naruto. You can still find the episodes for both anime, songs, etc. They're both ongoing still. ------- |

Really? i didnt know it got picked up, weird, i dont think i could sit through a dubbed ep though |

Not sure bout bleach. But i do recall that Naruto is only picked up for a certain number of episodes, so the later episode is 'technically' unlicensed. :) So, fansubs for later episodes are ok until they get licensed. |

I think people shouldnt care if the anime is licensed or stuff. I just know that it gets taken off of freesites like youtube but there are other places like veoh or crunchyroll you can still see the eps from. I dont like downloading the eps because my storage space gets smaller then, And i would buy the anime but then i dont like spendings 30 bucks for 4 eps per disc either. they should like make it like napster watch or download all you want for a small fee. |
