Well... That kinda is a somewhat general question, and there are a quadzillion definitions, but I guess you could generally say programming would be writing some sort of code in a language that the computer, at some level, can understand and do something with... The intent being to create a program that performs a useful function; An simple example, perhaps, would be the Calculator program in Microsoft Windows. Someone wrote code that controlled how the buttons were to look, and the code that controlled what happens when you click/press the Plus key, etc... so that in the end, you have a useful program, the Calculator...
