Hey guys! Um yeah its me CiD again. Anyway I'm planning on buying a new RAM component for my computer. What do you suggest I get? I have my eyes set on this " PNY Optima 2-Pack 1GB PC2-5300 DDR2 DIMM Memory" Comes with two 1 GB DDR RAM thingies. I have researched lightly on Wikipedia on RAM components... But knowing myself i have no idea what their talking about exactly. The price for the component thingie is $189.99USD. Good deal, yes? no? (Link from bestbuy.com http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8221453&st=RAM&lp=5&type=product&cp=1&id=1166236338366) Any info on RAM would help a lot guys! |

You can find a better deal for 2 x 1GB Sticks of ram elsewhere. For me I can find better ram for less than half that price (in Canada) Have you check newegg ? |

www.newegg.com - usually very good place for computer stuff. the thing about ram is you need to know which kind to get. ram are usually labeled PCXXXX where XXXX are numbers, the higher numbers are more advanced. to see which kind of ram your computer supports. look in your user manual about ram installation and crap (you can find it online if you lost it). |

You can also look at pricewatch.com. The price there starts at $72 for 2 GB and the price increases with the quality of the ram.

you guys are forgetting the ultimate site for computer hardware. www.newegg.com You can get 2-1GB sticks for $100 or even cheaper if you look, name brand stuff too. What you really need to keep in mind though is what kind of RAM your computer uses. If it uses DDR1, that's a lot different than DDR2 and the two are incompatible. You really need to look that stuff up on your motherboard first before you buy something that you don't realize till after you open it that you can't use.

Yes I know now to keep the fact that DDR2 memory stick are incompatible with my computer which takes DDR1, and I just learned this the hard way yesterday. |
