HELP: nihongo way of reading time, date and year

how do japanese say time? tatoeba.. 7:00am, or 8:57pm, or how do you translate 12 in the noon from 12 in the midnight, or 7 am from 7 pm? also how do you guys read date and year like january 13, 2007, or june 11, 1990 something like that also do you guys write year in kanji? i cant seem to find any other sources from the net, and i am only relying on self-studying onegaishimasu ^^ |

gozen = am gogo = pm ji = hour fun/hun/pun = minutes (depends on the number) byou/hyou = seconds (depends on number) 7:00 am = gozen nana-ji 8:57 pm = gogo hachi-ji go-jyuu nana-fun noon = ohiru (afternoon technically) or gogoku or gogo jyuu-ni-ji or shougo or hizakari (high noon) midnight = gozen jyuu-ni-ji or ushimitsudoki or nenokoku or sankou or nenotoki or shoushi or hanshou or hanshi or reiji å¹´ = year in kanji Dates are usually year/month/day today is 2007å¹´å…月å…æ—¥ |

also for time if you wanted to expres it as 7 hours(long) you would use jikan so if you ate for 2 hours it could be expressed as nijikan ni tabemasu.=ate for 2 hours.(the particle ni is used with time) or going from time to time suupa ni juuichiji made juusanji demo ikimasu.(went to the store from 11 to 13. in military time you can exclude the am/pm and be understandable but if you where to use the markers, thus) suupa ni juuichiji gozen made ichiji gogo made ikimasu. dates are written as year, month, day. numbers are usually written as the numbers rather then kanji thus your examples would be nisennana nen ichi getsu juusan nichi. (nen= year, getsu=month, nichi=day) in japanese writing it would look like this ï¼’ï¼ï¼ï¼—年1月13日 sen kyu hyaku kyu juu nen roku getsu juu ichi nichi. 199ï¼å¹´ï¼–月11日 |
