I personally prefer old anime. I dunno, they seem more original. I don't mean the reeeeally old anime like Astroboy (my apologies to the fans), I'm talking about Rurouni Kenshin, Flame of Recca, Akazukin Cha Cha, Ah! My Goddess, You're Under Arrest, basically, anime from the 90's. The drawings are better, the story plots are original, just great entertainment! The animes now are okay, but they just can't compare to the originals. You know the saying, sequels rarely upstage the 1st movie. |

all of em...i really cant choose some "old" anime have very good and original stories compared to what we have today yet the animation pales in comparison with what we have today (gundam DBZ) and present day anime have really cool artworks yet awful stories...but the same can be said wit hold anime and some new anime have original stories and cool animation so its both world combined! |

It doesn't really matter to me if it's old, current or future. All I care about is the storyline, period. If the storyline is good, I'll watch it. If the storyline is so-so, I'll still watch it. If the storyline is bad, I'll watch it also. |

Future anime in this business is going to be amazing. I'm along the same boat as Kay. Better anime must have better storylines and whatnot, and that's the most important thing in anime, games, etc. Although anime in the future might seem to be amazing, some or a lot will have minor flaws here and there. Not every anime will be increased in animation, graphics, etc. ------- |

OK , here's my opinion : I think that old and new anime is very much the same . Brief History "Without the foundation , you won't have a building" A Contractor's Mind Besides , anime will not exist if the very first anime was'nt introduced to the world . (I believe the first anime is Astro Boy by the famous Osamu Tezuka) . Ever since the first anime was introduced , Japan started taking interest in this works Osamu made and made it a trend<-did I spell it right ? . Then , after that , more later anime like Dragon Ball , Kimba The White Lion , Sailor Moon , Fushinigi Yugi etc. were made , and it was a hit when it was introduced outside Japan . As time passes by , more and more anime were made and more fans were founded too . Even the term 'anime' were adopted in the dictonary and it was used widely throughout the world . Not just the development increase , the storyline and graphics did improve too . And now , anime spawns a main trend in the world. END For the comparism : Graphics Old Anime <<< New Anime Storyline Old Anime < New Anime Design Old Anime = New Anime Meanings Old Anime > New Anime Overall Old Anime < New Anime As for my prediction for the new anime , there is no doubt that the quality will improve with time , and we will see better works in the upcoming anime . But it is said that the idea bank is running dry and the nonsense , meaningless anime starts to appear (Example : Anime with no exact theme , flat storyline or created just for fun) . I fear that one day , we'll be watching an anime re-enacted from the original ones . But what I do know now is that manga-ka (like me) is trying their best to generate ideas interesting enough to bring some hapiness to anime fans and the viewers to see . *No offence is made for my opinion* That's it for now . Let's hear more of your opinion ^^ . |

Not this again... I think older anime are better, in storyline and originality. Damn it, most of the new animes are getting repetitive! They may start out nice, but when it get towards the end, it's just plain bad. Good graphics do NOT make an anime good. C'mon, just look at Dragon Ball and Astro Boy! They're old, but GOOD. And porn doesn't make it any better, does it? Just watch Amaenaideyo! Green Green and Girls Bravo and you'll know what i mean. |

Re: Old Anime? New Anime? Future Anime?

Well, if its me, id rather choose new anime or future anime. For someone like me, quality plays a huge role. And yeah, that's why i tend to like new animes compared to those old ones like dragonball and such. Quality makes the anime fun to watch.

This is why a lot of people thinks that old anime is not nice : 1. The graphics is 'so' outdated ..... 2. Bad sound , bad musics and boring too ..... 3. Poorly designed looks ..... 4. The special effects is 'so' lame ..... 5. Bad voice acting , graphics and looks makes a bad story ..... There is more to it , just can't list them all ..... Heres my answer to those complaints : 1. Yes , indeed the graphics is 'so' outdated , but you must know that it was done before the computer was ever used widely for the anime purposes . So , most of this old anime is done by hand-drawn , frame by frame . So one action is no different from the others 'cause it's drawn by hand , not CPU made *Duh* which sometimes use repetition to fill up actions done by each characters made . It's really a hard work for drawing EVERY SINGLE FRAME OF THE ANIME , so I would call it 'this is what we call it original hand work without no outside help' 2. Yes , bad indeed , for this age . But in that time , that's the best they can do to make good songs for the anime 'cause the tools they have to record songs and voices aren't so new and available . You should ask the elderly about what do they think about the old musics ..... then you might realize that there ain't much difference if it's sung at that time and now , why ? Simple , you can change the sound recording tools but you can't 'upgrade' your own voice . So , do appreciate those voices ^^ . 3. No , they're not . That's what we call it their style of drawing . Each people has their own style , and this applies in all , including your drawing skill . That's because this resembles your 'signature' which helps a person to differs themselves from the others . It's not 'old' nor 'boring' , but unique . Even famous people of this time like the creator of the game 'Blue Dragon' seeks the manga-ka of the anime 'Dragon Ball' to design characters for the game and Osamu Tezuka who created 'Astro Boy' made a comeback with his new anime 'Black Jack' and it's a big hit (To me , it's 'so-so') and suprisingly , he's uses the very same style he'd use for his previous anime for this . Clearly , you say it's old and poorly designed 'cause you'd weren't in their place at their time , so you don't feel it ^^. 4. *Sigh* , they're hand drawn ..... Unlike CPU Effects which is somewhat , better but it's very much the same if you view all the new animes (If you can) . What's special about hand drawn effects is that they can design it anyway they wanted it to be , just like you see in the mangas . Now , you call 'it' 'LAME' ? 5. I strongly disagree with that . Those has nothing to do with the storyline . Anime is more closely related to novels , just that the story is told in picture form with sound and voices to tell out the story . So , picture and sound (Including voices)is just more than a mere medium of description for all viewers who ..... probably hates reading XD . If you don't believe me , try turning your TV 'Black' and ignore all those 'old' sounds and just listen to the story then you'll understand ^^. Come to think of it , will there be new anime and even future anime without the old anime ? That's it for now . Later. |

The old Dragonballs (i think) started to influence many more action animes I even think Naruto was influenced by the Dragonballs anime. I have to say, I love the first season of Dragonball better than any of those new Dragonball seasons! Y'know when Goku was still a young kid C: I really enjoyed that series X3 |

I really agree with Angelus and Imppy. Without those old anime, there wouldn't even be any new ones... Lemme see, what was influenced by Dragon Ball...? One Piece, Naruto, Bo bobobobobo, School Rumble, hell, even American cartoons like Kids Next Door and Fairly Odd Parents! |
Re: Old Anime? New Anime? Future Anime?

Personally, I'm still waiting on a future Anime of the Fantasy Genre that will replace Record of Lodoss War as my favorite one. There have been several strong contenders over the years, but for me none has had quite the right mixture of intriguing group interactions/dynamics (Where each character has a distinctly different roles yet they can work together as a unified party to surmount difficult foes) and also had that epic backdrop of a fantastic land being vehemently warred over. Going out on a limb, I'd say my one wish for the future of Fantasy Anime would be for Square-Enix to sanction an anime based faithfully on the Final Fantasy VI RPG. I know I can't be alone in that thought. The Chrono Trigger OVA was rather dissapointing fare clearly aimed toward a very young audience unfortunately, and could be so much better if they had actually included the main characters in it... >_< |

Dragonball might have influenced a lot of the action anime nowadays, because Dragonball was one of the first animes to become legendary on its own. :D I with with Imppy, I liked Dragonball better then the later DB series. ------- |

Old anime are good, so is the present and so will the future. ^_^ the only difference is the graphics. but graphics doesnt matter as long as the drawings(designs) are good.

old anime or new anime.. for me it doesn't matter.. all i want is that it has a good plot and ending.. for the graphics well.. all of us know that as time pass technology develops so in terms of graphics and effects it's new anime for me.. but overall. both!.. neither of the two as long as it is a great anime! -what is found here might be found elsewhere but something not found in here may also not be found anywhere- |
