How do you tell the difference on electronics?
Link | by night_link on 2007-05-15 20:48:43
By hand, the difference between the katakana "n" and "so" can be easily seen. But how are they told apart on electronics like cellphones?

Are people just used to seeing the words that they never stopped to think about it?

Hm, I don't know 100%, but I'm sure if you're going to type it on a cellphone, there is going to be hiragana there instead of katakana. :o

ソ and ン ?

There, computer is electronic too, and i guess you can still tell them apart... It's the angle of the first stroke.

ソ and ン

as it was said the first stroke in so its more downwards and with n the stroke it more horizontal to the right, but they are very close but not exactly the sameits also with tsu and shi

ツ(tsu) シ(shi)

notice how tsu and so have the strokes with a more vertical feel and shi and n have the horizontal feel. I got it so i could remember the difference as

(shi) and (n)=shin and the shin is not normal so they are the horizontal, while tsuso hase them as vertical. hope you understand it.

What CrazzyWarrior said.

Let me tell you, you shouldn't be worried about electronics, though. It's sousho style (and other messy) writing you should be worried about.
