*UPDATE: apparently I was wrong...please read the other thread.

i went sniff around my computer and i started turning anything off that had to do with music and i seem to have fixed the problem. my downloads are not as fast as they were before so i may have, incidentally, turned something off that was making my downloads faster. but i promise i intended no harm and whatever was on is now off. please let me know if you suspect me of anything in the future and i will take care of it immediately.

What song is it? What program are you using to play them? We need more details to help you.

what is the size of the file?

EDIT: incidentally, do you happen to have a download manager/accelerator installed on your computer?
It seems like your downloads are failing because your computer closes the connection and attempts to create a new one using a different IP address.
Maybe the issue is your connection is dropping every few seconds and you are being assigned a new IP address.
Or, maybe your computer is attempting to use a proxy to accelerate the download, which would be a violation of the terms of use.

Here is the exact message: The file you are attempting to play has an extension (.mp3) that does not match the file format. Playing the file may result in unexpected behavior.

It's as if the files I downloaded say they are .mp3 files but nothing recognizes them as .mp3 files...I don't understand.

IF I have a download accelerator, I don't know where it came from or how to turn it off (if you know please tell me where I can turn it off). I apologize if I am violating any terms, for it wasn't intentional. I am new and still trying to figure out how everything works. I probably shouldn't have jumped into download so quickly.

This has happened with every song I've try to download. The size of the downloads are about the size of the Home Made Kazaku songs that played just fine (around 4 or 5 MB, I think).

I tried playing the songs in Windows Media Player (which is the default of my computer), Yahoo Music Jukebox, and QuickTime.

Again please tell me if I doing something wrong, because I'm not trying to break any rules!

UPDATE: I don't know if it means anything, but I also discovered that the files are "missing media usage rights" while the files that worked don't say this.
