Anime and Life
Link | by Jun-san on 2005-04-04 11:06:10
I was thinking about the life's purpose and I have been able to find that a lot of animes are kinda interpretating people's philosophy. When I found anime with comedy and drama, I kinda want to find the anime with good sense of humor and other twist to our lives, but recently all the animes that I have seen has some sort of meaning of life in the story... Do you guys see your self in the anime and wonder how you would react to the situation? If you do, reply.

I love anime. I live anime. Do you anime?

Hummmm, how many anime's do you had to see to realize that every anime is the autor's way to see the things, in every anime and manga, the autor just express how he feels about the thing he wirtes and give to know in the different anime and mangas they produce

Well, considering anime has changed my life completely (it all started with Pokémon!! XP), I do see myself sometimes, but more often my friends. I also see situations from my life, or quite frequently after I see something in an anime, a similar thing will happen in my life. There are tons of references in my life to anime and the other way around. Since anime is often about everyday life and always focused on human emotion, it's natural that we could all see a bit of ourselves in it.

same here. in fact, call me corny but anime has helped me create a self-definition of myself so unshakable I'm still alive today. Anime is an art form that is realitivly recent, kinda like modern art.

well, i see anime as a way to escape, a way to think about other things. Anime unlike a movie can be moulded to fit anything. In a way, no boundries, and the same with music, just to sit down and listen. Thats my way of escaping and relaxing with nothing really, just to think. So anime really for me is something i can really enjoy. I cant watch anime with anyone else around, you need to be by yourself to think about whatever you want to. Imagin... Possably like a child but i enjoy that.

Well The thing about anime is that, the author of anime aren't trying to create cartoon... They seems to try to create something other then cartoon. I'm thinking that the author is creating based on their fantasy world or their own philosophy. I mean, certain people see animes and feel something deeply left inside... When I was watching American cartoons, all they are trying to do is humor... When I watch Japanese animes, (unlike Excel Saga) I feel something deeply and I can thought out what it is like. Even Adults enjoy animes even though, they do not like cartoons. What would their reasons be? Like what Hitchi-chan said "considering anime has changed my life completely (it all started with Pokémon!! XP), I do see myself sometimes, but more often my friends." I mean some philosophy of authors is so deep, it can even effect people's life! Isn't it quiet strange? Have anybody thought that, you are learning something while you are watching anime? If you have thought about it, please reply...

An anime that really emotionally got to me was the Kimura vs. Mashiba OAV of Hajime no Ippo. It really defines of what it takes to be a man and to how to contront one's own fears. Hajime no Ippo though has larger than life characters, they are human beings as well. Ippo has to help his widowed mother, Takamura has to go through harsh dieting, and Aoki and Kimura just can't seem to get women =P. Despite how mainstream boxing tends to portray boxers as big and rich as Hollywood stars, Hajime no Ippo tends to be realistic and it's not all glamour and gold.

Well in my case, starting watching anime was the end of my social life. First when i was little i didnt thought much about the feelings the author put on their manga, I was just thinking about some action like in dragon ball z ( I know shame on the old-me).Then I discovered this art call "anime" i become fond of it. I discovered a new world better and more interesting than the reality. So i spend all my week-end and free time watching anime and stop interact with people. So even my people from my family start saying i become crazy with my comp and that i should go see a psy... But Anime World is still wonderful and even if my social life ended i still dont regret it.. Anime rulz

Wow some of you guys do have some deep thoughts! I am very surprised, anyway, I wanted to seek for somewhere it gathers around the anime people and make 'ANIMETOWN'. It would be very cool to make real anime society.

i believe the biggest impact in any kind of anime is the music. am i right? for example, in RPGs such as Final Fantasy. it only gets emotional when the song plays and someone is about to die or a love scene. i also believe that anime can compare itself to life. but anime can not compare itself to human emotion. anime is just lines and colors molded together to form something its not.(its molded together very well though) am i right?

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

That's also another good reasonable thought...
As you have quoted before

"i also believe that anime can compare itself to life. but anime can not compare itself to human emotion. anime is just lines and colors molded together to form something its not." (by Flare on 07:03:30 am 04/14/05)

I would say there are many things that are so real! I mean when I watch anime, I feel the passion of something is in my heart. The anime to me is like human emotion and another fantasy has been molded together! I mean, its not just lines or colors! It's another world! I believe that if our life was better, we could have sort of life as anime. Who knows? There is so many possibilities in the entire universe and we only have proof of our exitance! There could be another existance and possibly living like an anime life! Well... Its something that we all could consider and believe...

"anime can not compare itself to human emotion. anime is just lines and colors molded together to form something its not" .by Flare on 07:03:30 am 04/14/05.

You can see anime as just lines and colors as you say but in my case there are a deeper meaning. "Anime can not compare itself to human emotion"... false (for me) because for exemple a love story anime : Its true that some "lines" dont compare with emotion but love scenes , the feeling of the characters in the anime can be similar to ours.

argh i know this is confusing, I cant express myself well. Anyways to put it in a shell, i want to say that anime is a way for some autor to express their feeling (which are human feeling!!!). So THEY ARENT mere lines or colors.

This is my point of view, but i still respect your opinion.

FUSHIGI, i understand. ive seen some emotional anime. there is that feeling, a compassionate feeling i get while watching anime of that nature. it makes me feel good about myself and gives me an understanding of life. ive based my life off of anime but not too much to get attached. there is no problem with anime and me. but ive realized that you can not base your life on anime because it hurts. to have seen a life with excitement, more excitement than my own it hurts. dont you agree? on final fantasy games, for example, me as squall. i rarely talk face to face with people and if i connect with people i feel i might not connect to their standards. squall had rinoa open him up, ya know, to see what the real squall was like(kind, loving, compassionate, etc.). you can not get to know a person if that person doesnt get to know you. but ive realized something else, that you have to have courage some where in life and i choose to have courage now. to face my fears and have no one stand in my way.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

I think Anime has increased my IQ. Yeah, no sh**! Watching all those confusing story and tried to cope with it? Surely a good exercise for my brain. And about life, Anime has so many philosophy. For example, mine starts with Evangelion, the last 2 eps of the TV series. Wow, they're cool! I couldn't agree more that your surroundings defines who you are and your restrictions creates what you are. And without it you can be anything and in the same time, nothing... Not bad for a new point of view considering I was just 10 back then...

I know all your feelings about wanting to dive into anime, about how those lines and colors can seem so much beter then reality that you want to stay there and never go back, but that's not the point. the arthurs don't want you to waste away your life in front of the screan. They created anime to show you something that you can take out into the world and be strong. Face life with the courage you gained in Hajime no Ippo. Understand love as the purity in Ai Yori Aoshi. To work hard and be a part of reality taking the strength, and self-purpose you gained from anime. That is the purpose of anime.

and please don't beat me up. (whimper, whimper)

actually i agree. thats why i made the comment in my first reply.

Every different trigger in human emotions (such as love, honor, respect, etc.) triggers a response. for example, say you are watching a very romantic anime, that triggers love. makes you feel very emotional and can even make you depressed if you watch it too much. the depressive part tells you to get up, get out of the house and go enjoy the mall. sometimes that is not easy. getting depressed makes it very difficult to get out of the house. i found this out the hard way. i recently found a job and when i was working on the job i found that i wasnt depressed anymore. interesting isnt it. i found the courage to get out of the house and move on with my life. its just how everything works.

by the way guy with glasses no one is going to beat you up, that was just an honest reply and i respect that. you had the courage to tell us what you thought;)

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
