Twin Paradox
|
I have been wondering about the twin paradox. I know that due to someone moving at high velocities, their time dilates. So if there are two twins and one is sent onto a high speed trip. When he lands back on earth, in theory he would appear younger. However, since he is moving at high speeds in relative to the earth. Would that not also mean that the earth is moving away from him at that same same speed in relation to him? So what I don't understand is how does that work? Why is it that the twin in the spaceship is younger when he returns? The textbook gave some answer that was still fuzzy and did not justify their answer good enough. I am still relatively new to physics as I am only a high school student so I was hoping that some people with more experience can help me
