last night, while i'm surfing the net, my pc just stop running.. i mean, it suddenly hung up.. no hard disk reading.. can't move the mouse, no ctrl-alt-del or any keys.. when i restarted the pc with the restart botton, it won't start again.. no beep, no hd reading, no bios, totally no display on the monitor.. what seems to be the problem? is it the video card? or the processor itself? |

1)hmm...maybe you should try connecting the computer to a different switch. 2)you might want to check if the fuse is still in working condition. if it seemed to be blown, change it 3)i might be wrong but you might need to change the computer power supply box. it might be damaged |

The same scenario as you that I encountered last 8 or 9 years ago when I have and I only using my Pentium II Computer. I don't know if this work on your computer but I have a bad feelings that your computer is just encounter "static" (my master told me that term). Just do one or all the following: 1. Remove the power supply cord that is attach in your motherboard. 2. Remove the power connector that is connected to your hard disk. 3. Kindly check the attachments (Power Switch and Restart Switch) in your motherboard. 4. Check your CPU and/or motherboard if it is working properly. 5. This is not recommended, unless you hear a beeping sound after you do 1 to 4 of the following solutions, switch places the RAM from it's previous slot. Then check your graphics card if it is firmly attach to your motherboard and monitor (Hehehe! I almost forgot this step because it is uncommon to use). After doing some or all the following to your computer. Turn your Computer on. If it doesn't turn on, try to remove the IDE Connector and the Power Connector of your hard disk and turn it on. If nothing happend, say it to us...there is another solution, but it is crucial to do unless you are experience in PC Troubleshooting. |

I'd try what Ruy Lopez just said, just for good measure, but from the sound of it, you said your computer wouldn't even beep or anything right? If your computer doesn't beep, doesn't display, doesn't start reading the harddrive, and pretty much remains silent, there are only two things that could cause it to basically not even turn on: 1) the motherboard OR 2) the power supply unit Every bit of computer knowledge I have says it has to be one of those two things. Otherwise it would at least read the Hard drive, beep, or display SOMETHING, but if it doesn't do any of those three it would have to be one of those two things causing the problem. First I'd go through the steps Ruy listed, and if those don't work, try swapping out power supply units from another computer if they're compatible. If that doesn't fix it, it would have to be the result of something wrong on the motherboard (obviously if it does fix it, that just means you need a new PSU). The only solution I would recommend to a problematic motherboard is simply replacement.
Beware the quiet people,
You don't know their intentions

Ops! Sorry for saying this, but I just miss a following information to be check. .:. I didn't say in my statement, but it is important. After you do 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, PUG ALL WIRES that you remove from those steps. If you didn't do that, your Computer will not turn on. (SORRY! SORRY! SORRY!) .:. But if it doesn't turn on, try to remove the IDE Connector and the Power Connector of your hard disk and turn it on and remain it REMOVE THE CONNECTION from the motherboard and Power Supply ( I just said it to my statement a while ago). If the process didn't work, try the crucial thing. But I don't say this steps exepts you reply what's going on now in your PC after those suggestion (This is a very crucial to do). |

thanks everyone.. i've already done what ruy have said.. and it works on the second try.. but i just removed and plugged again the video card.. and maybe the problem is really the ventilation.. i've read ruy's advise in the other thread "random starts" you see, my cpu fan is not working.. maybe it's time to buy a replacement. thanks again.. case closed ^_^" |

For lei8iel: Thank you for replying (It will bother me if you will not reply). And now I know I help to fix your PC. But I wonder why did you say that your CPU Fan is causing the problem. Question: 1. Does the room that your PC is place have 40 degrees temperature or more? 2. Do you have Air Cooling device? 3. How many Fans are there in your System Unit except your CPU Fan or Video Adapter Fan (kindly indicate where it is located)? Your answer will help you in mentaining your PC. I know that I didn't help a lot to your problem. You will encounter that problem to your computer in every time you make deal of it. I'm 100% sure that this statement will help, but 100% sure it will not fix your problem entirely. For Zparticus: It depends to the situation. I can't talk more about those problems because you given less information about your problem. There are some instances if that kind of problem like yours is Software Main Problems (include virus, bugs, etc) or Hardware Main Problems (static, hardware abnormalities, etc). TO ALL: Pls if you indicate my name in your post, don't put my first name only. Include my full name instead. |

hmmm.. i guess it's not entirely the fan, but isn't it important to have proper ventilation in your cpu? i don't really know the exact cause.. but i guess it with the video card or the slot, since it's the only part i removed.. i'm sorry for your name.. ^_^" |
