the 'chi chi chi chi' sound is likely from your hard disk(cause one of my hard disk is currently having that kind of sound). i'm not certain about the kernel error though |

try not to use 'singlish' here....anyways, you can try getting a new hard disk and install a fresh copy of WinXP in the new hard disk. also, do you think you can get a screenshot of the error? |

I am 89% sure that is a Hardware problem. the remaining 11% deals with hardware and software conflict to your OS or programs inside those hardwares. There are many errors that can be represent by sounds in a computer. Like one Kay said in hard disk, it is cause by patters that is being ticking like a wierd clock. This means your hard disk sector 0 (boot sector) cannot be use, cannot be read/write, or cannot be recover again, unless experience person dealing with this problem wilol fix it (60%-40% chance to recover your hard disk). There are some beeping sound that came from the Inside-Speaker that determine the RAM, VGA Card, monitor attachment, or Bios Problems (I forgot some of those, better check in my notes). Try to locate that sound where it came from or better check your CPU, your RAM, your Hard Disk, or your motherboard if there is some hardware problem (skip checking on your CD-ROM, DVD-ROM or other removable devices, except floopy disk). I know it is hard to take a screen shot with that ERROR. But please Try and Try until you got some data about your problem. I hope you will succeed in descovering where that error came from. |

A quick google revealed this: "This issue can occur if a requested page of kernel data could not be read from the paging file into memory, or the master boot record is infected with a virus." Basically you hard drive isn't working the way it should. Reinstall your OS after backing up your data and low level formatting your HDD. The error code might help. If your hard disk is making funny sounds, it might have died completely, meaning you'll need another hard drive.

Normally that sound you heard is the HDD dying on you... The kernal is the single most important file in your OS its pretty much the main DLL and runs everything. I agree with the people above, buy a new HDD and format WinXP on it ASAP. |
