Ugh.... I swear I am starting to hate my new computers... I am currently trying to get Asian Font packs installed on a Pentium IV 3.2 GHz running Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2. I HAVE the CD, but when i try and add it through regional/language options, it says that 'Windows setup could not copy the appropriate files'. When the CD it out, it does not prompt asking for the Windows CD. Any other way I could install them other than through there, or fix this? I have tried reformatting, setting it during installation (same message appears). Strange that the complex script stuff works though... but not the Asian. I do not wish to reformat again, although if necessary I will. Thanks. And to those who are helping me with my acting up AMD, I will work on it as soon as I get this one working to full capacity, as this will be my main computer (not to mention my family needs to use it as well). EDIT: I managed to get fonts working by importing random files into windows from my old computer (fonts, and anything relating to IME), but i wanna type in japanese... but i need to install the languages in order to install the keyboard IME's..... I'm stuck. |

I've had similar problems trying on my friend's computer. A question: has your CD drive had any history of having trouble burning or reading CDs, DVDs, or any type of disk at all? |

hmmm.... noo clue.... im installing other stuff fine (BF2, Starcraft). I'm planning on asking about reimaging my windows cd (yes, it's pirated) and doing ANOTHER format (that would make it 5), since also twice (one in BF2, once in Starcraft, both online multiplayer), my computer reset for no reason, and i believe once after reboot said that "windows encountered a fatal error", and that a log was saved. Unfortunately, i forgot where it was, so i can't show you unless i get another log. And yes, I've used this CD before to do installs of computers before (used to set up first one), but ever since I used on sis' laptop to install the asian language pack (uhhhh..... no clue about specs, never checked :P). If i had to guess, it's that that screwed up the cd, which caused crap on both my AMD 2.2 and my Intel 3.2 (one has anything 3d crashing it, made another post about it before). On another note, i tried more tweaking with the WINDOWS folder, and i ended up screwing windows forcing me to reformat XD, but still no difference. |

ohh.... these stuff are really common among XP users... i tried fixing many problems like these and i came up with a really great solution... it works on many comps, but most of the problems were sourced from either incomplete installation, bad cd(scratched, bad sectors), or most commonly, the cd drive. i managed to solve them by thru using another cdrom and everything works fine.... may u succeed in fixing ur problem. try also borrowing another original (or pirated if u are willing)xp installation cd. |

well...a pirated CD doesn't has all the contents that the genuine has...which is probably why you couldn't install the language pack |

-.- I've done it before (I said it in my 2nd post), no problems, fresh install, etc. I think I'm just going to leave it like this, give up on the language pack problems for now. It seems that this is all that is wrong for now (I had it crash and reboot on me twice, but the .NET Framework 3.0 seemed to do the trick, don't ask me why). At least until the next format. Thanks guys for everyone who tried to help, but just don't have the time, since i have to do homework and all, and I need a working computer. |
