Stats: Windows SP2 Radeon 9550 (Sapphire ATI i think) with 256 MB AMD Athlon 64 3200+ running at 2.2 GHz (200Mhz *11) 1 GB Ram 80 GB HD Story: Started out on SP1, on which worked fine (albeit slowly). After scoring a horrible mark on 3DMark03 (of 2200 which now after reading some insight is a bit better explained), I decided to reformat and install SP2 onto the computer. Now 3D Mark stalls within 30 secs, and Windows stalls within 30 secs of opening Catalyst Control Center 3D submenus (when the video loads with various changes that you can make). This leads me to believe that ANYTHING 3D stalls the video card. After stalling the software tries to revert to hardware acceleration but if the 3D is still going, it keeps stalling and reverting. I want to keep SP2 (the first few seconds of the test show MUCH better results than SP1, so I'm hoping to keep it without reverting, not to mention the fact that i dont think i have a XP SP1 cd on me x.x) Stuff I Have done: Update video driver from internet revert video drivers to CD drivers (uninstall/reinstall) reinstalling video drivers (With/without Catalyst) Changing 3D settings Changing AGP from 8X to 4X (resulted in failed Windows start) Declocking from 2.2 to 2.0 GHz (*11 multiplier to *10) Interesting note: While Windows stated 256 MB on the video card, 3DMark03 reports as 512 MB. Please help me... I'll update if I get any more information. |

Try reinstalling SP1 and see if that helps. |

Had the same problem with my card and figured I did one basic thing wrong. Never never never install your card, download the latest drivers and install them. It's likely that you just messed up some configurations. Because Windows recognized the card right after you boot, it'll install some generic drivers for you to use them. Always install drivers before you plug any piece of hardward into your mobo! So, you might want to uninstall the video card drivers (completely), download the latest and correct(!) one from ATI, and then install the drivers. I don't know how old the card is, but if it was released before SP2, you will need the newest drivers. Drivers on the CD could work, but it isn't a good idea to stick to old drivers if you can get new ones. :P Eh, if you already did that (uninstall, download, install) ... this is the only thing I can think of. :/ Or if this didn't fix your problem.. uhh.. :0 |

often times there is conflicting drivers often times when you hav the driver already windows seems to feel that you still need it becuase its not their driver so deleete either one of the drivers and you should be fine |
