If you're using Windows XP:

1. Goes to Control Panel>Regional and Language Options
2. Select "Languages" tab
3. Check the tickbox "Install files for East Asian Languages"
4. If your Windows XP comes from a CD source, you'll be ask to insert your Windows XP Installation CD. If your Windows XP comes from your hardisk source, it'll automatically load and install all the necessary files for you and voila! Your computer now can read Japanese and other East Asian languages.

Hope that helps..^^..
