Ok, instead of flooding the forum with seperate threads for each band, i'm simply going to list all of them here. I will name the band and give a rating for them (although this is entirely down to MY opinion, which almost certainly won't coincide with all of yours). This is VERY biased, and based on as many songs as i've heard by the bands. I'm going to be adding more detail to the bands in my list, but doing physics all day has fried my brain ~_~. So it'll wait until after my exam tomorrow. I would also like it if you could write in detail (not the rushed version like mine) and why you like bands. After this list, others are free to add bands. Aobouzu - I've only heard a few songs, they're ok but i don't like them that much 5/10 Art-School - Their vocals are sometimes hard to hear, but i like them 8/10 Asian Kung-fu Generation - Well, what can i say? I love them and they got me into jrock in the first place 9/10 B-Dash - Only heard a clip and one song, they ok 6/10 Bump of Chicken - I love them, as much as AKFG 9/10 Cool Joke - Heard one song, the full metal alchemist opening. I like it 8/10 for that song alone. FAKE? - They sing in english (not engrish), lots of different styles. They're VERY good 9/10 Gackt - I've heard a few songs. Nothing spectacular - 6/10 Glay - I've heard a few songs. They're catchy but i don't like them that much. 7/10 Instead of a band, i'm going to list the Beck Tribute to greatful sound compilation because i have only heard 1 song by each band. I love the first half, never listen to the second half. 7/10 Hide - Pretty much the same as gackt, except i've heard more songs and i prefer him slightly 7/10 Hyde - Some songs i love, others are nothing too great. 8/10 Janne Da Arc - Some really good songs, some poor song. 7/10 Kagrra - Some nice songs, some not so great, but i like him/them/her(?) on the whole. 8/10 Kiyoharu - I've heard 4 songs by him/them, i like them but they're not really my style. 7/10 Kuroyume - Only a few songs i like, but some are really good. 6/10 L'arc~en~ciel - I like their songs, however i prefer hyde's solo stuff. 7/10 Luna Sea - They're ok, i like the instruments but i'm not huge on the vocals for a lot of their songs. 7/10 Oblivion Dust - Good band, somewhat similar to FAKE? (same singer) but nowhere near as good as FAKE? 7/10 Pierrot - I LOVE a few of their songs (barairo no sekai) while i dislike others. 7/10 Plastic Tree - Nice band, not huge on the vocals however. 7/10 Siam Shade - I really like their guitar solo's in songs. I like all of their songs (with a few i love). 8/10 Takui - He's alright, i'm don't think his songs are too great though. 5/10 Thee Michelle Gun Elephant - I really like them, they have a particular style which i love. Great instruments but i'm not sure on the vocals, it fits the music but i think it could be better. 8/10 The Brilliant Green - Very easy listening, nothing to complicated. Female vocals which is nice, a few songs i really like. 8/10 The Pillows - They're ok, however i prefer Bump of Chicken. 7.5/10 Wyse - Odd band but i like them. 7/10 X-Japan - I personally don't like them, however this is more the vocals than anything else. Not my style really. 5/10 All of these are my opinions. You can add bands i haven't listed (because there are loads) or write your own views for bands i've listed. I've also only listed songs that are in my iTunes library, this is why there isn't a score less than 5/10. If i feel the song isn't worth 5/10, i won't listen to it. Again, this is purely a recommendation list (and list of band names) so people can see what they think of jRock bands, because i know how hard it is to find music without a band name.  |
