I'd say BOTH.. i think you can't make a good anime with just focus at one gender.. there must be male and female main chara,, even it's just one anime..

I agree with rEi. If it was an all male anime, I'm pretty sure it would be yaoi and if it was all girl, then it would be the opposite, and if there was a girl main character but no male main character, then it would be hentai. For anime to be anime, it would usually have a hero and a heroine. ^^

Hey.. hey.. Whether it's Yaoi, Yuri, or Hentai, all are animes.

But even Yuri animes has a male character.

@Dark: I didn't meant just one gender in one anime.. so,, it isn't about all male anime or all female.. but even there is a lot of female chara,, there must be at least one male main chara.. (example,, school rumble) and the opposite (example,, fushigi yuugi).. so if akatsuki yousei asked what gender is matters most,, maybe i can't give an answer that make her satisfied..

Yes, both genders have to be present in order for anime to work, otherwise it would be either wierd or boring.

All male characters suck without ant female characters, and vise versa.

... I don't care...

you need both...because only boy's would be borring and with only girls to..!
and if u take out some of the chara,.then there is missing something..!
but that's my opinion^^

both, but if your a boy, you would like yuri, if your a girl then you would like yaoi, vice versa.

I know lots of Harem-Animes. I think girl matter more than boys. But you need both for an interesting story.^^

Perhaps it's just cause I didn't watch Yaoi or stuff like that.

without both i don't think i'll watch the anime :P itz the funny/awkward/sweet/odd/romantic things that happens with the opposite sex around..

come 2 think of it...i think Strawberry Panic never had a male character in it..not even once! O.o

You can have the majority of one or the other for an anime.
Just as long as you have at least a few of the other gender.
Something like, Negima!?, would be a pretty good example.

Well. I'll say this. I hate yaoi.

So I'd prefer either a balanced mix or majority girls. :D

You do need a mix or else it just doesn't seem right...
