Dear darkdemon-san, Yes, so true!! Japanese is hard to learn!! Patience is the key to success!! I remembered, my sensei alwayz asked me to listen to more japanese songs, at the same time reading its lyrics. This is to help me to identify japanese words like, Kanji (Chinese character), Katakana (square form of kana) and Hiragana (cursive form of kana)!! My patience finally gets some results. After two years of hardwork, I'm now an intermediate student in Japanese language class!! But doom, down goes my english T_T So, please be patience!! Eto, I would also recommend you, while watching Japanese movies, please read the subtitles frequently!! I believe in near future, you might not need these subtitles anymore!! :D Šæ’£‚Á‚Ä ‰º‚³‚¢!! Ja mata ne, mi-chan

Japanese is the sweetest yet the hardest language to learn. However, if you try to learn hard enough from basic to advanced, you will be fluent with it. It may be difficult from the start, and yes, I do agree that you tend to screw with other language/s when learning a new one. Well, hey, how come there're linguists? You shouldn't think that it's because they have the talent to become one. Like a lot of people say, "Patience is a virtue." :) Learn by your heart. ^^v http://japanese.about.com has a lot of helpful lessons and articles about Nihonggo and the japanese culture. :)

Dear minna-san, To some ppl, learning japanese is like...snapping fingers whereas to others is like climbing Mt Everest!! Since there's some similarities between Nihongo and Kan hanashi, thus it's easier for a chinese to catch up with some phrases. More over, japanes language depends on the way speaker expression! Tatoeba...when I first started my lesson, my sensei said to me sou desu ne...(agreed with my statement), but at that time I thought that he's asking me (Sou desu ne?) is it so? Hee...at that time, i really make a fool outta of myself :P But now, I'm getting more and more used to Japanese!! Thanks to my sensei and others nice friends who supported me!! So...doin the same, I'll cheer for those who are now studying Japanese!! Ganbatte kudasai!! Ja mata ne, mi-chan

Arigato gozaimasu mi-chan! I study Japanese at my school and it is the best. Ive picked it up pretty easily and I agree that it is easier for some people than others. I have been studying for two years now. I think that English would be the hardest language to learn and my English skills have started to decline since I started learning Japanese ^~^; The music really does help, especially with the lyrics. Try watching the anime in Japanese with Japanese subtitles and pick out words you know. Ganbatte kudasai ne darkdemon 㨠minna! |

Dear darkhunter-san, Yes, even me too have such difficulties!! The very basic is to learn how to recognize all katakana and hiragana...ah muzukashii desu!! Moreover some words are so different when you pronoun...tatoeba... Moshikashite (è‹¥moã—shiã‹kaã—shiã¦te) - possibly or perhaps. This might sounds like Mokasutte...or something even worst!! Datte...having a Japanese dictionary with you will help you to distinguise the different. Sore made, mi-chan ^_^

Its not really hard... all you have to do is watch a lot of Japanese Anime and watch a lot of Japanese Movies and telenovelas... hehe... I learned it by myself using books... Maybe the best way was that I translated some texts and some written material... that way somehow I've learned a lot though I have no school training, in Japanese linguistics schools that is...... |

Well, i've been singing japanese songs for almost 7 years know, also been watching anime for almost 14 years (i'm 20 years old), and that helped me a lot know that I'm stuidying japanese, all my class mates are really amazed how easy I can recognize that hirgana to katana kanas, also how can I write kanjis (mostly, kanjis of verbs). The key on learning a foregeirn lenguage is to just listen closely song's ando try to recognize easy word's to from the song's. I have almost a year studying japanese and my sensei is really amazed how fast I learn, also, on a cultural event that was hold were I study, my class had to sing a song in japanese, but all of them were so ashamed, that a friend (a girl) and I had to sing it alone in the end, some friends of sensei Yuko also congrat me for how well I pronounce japanese word's, the only thing were I sux in japanese, is writting, gosh, I always give a hard time to my sensei on my jap test. ganabatte, nihongo no benkyo wa totemo tanoshii desu I'd love had write that in japanese, school pc's sux >_< |

I've been learning Japanese for about three years, I've watched anime since I was about... 4 and snag anime songs since the age of 6. Its fun repeating everything that they say, but you really don't learn the language unless you study some of it first and then repeat and learn. For me, its been a good tool. The Japanese teacher that I have now, is a native, and demands that we just work solely on written work. But to be fully fluent, its better to watch Raw anime and see what you know for the best of it all. BECAUSE of raws, I know more than I thought I knew. You'd be surprised what you know. The more you can translate on your own, the better. If you know parts of the kanji you can always translate the bigger ones, or just memorize them all. Talk about a brain fart. DEMO nihongo ga muzukashii deshita. |

| Well i started learning jap in year 7 and im now in year 9 and im still finding it pretty easy...and i can speak it fluently and read hiragana and katakana aswell...but im assuming the older i get and the further i go into it, it'll be harder but i like a challange...but even if its still hard im sure determination will kick in and make you wanna learn it...so if your passionate about it (like me) nothing is going to stop you from learning it :D |

Learning japanese is hard when you don't have someone to converse with you and point out your mistakes.I learn by watching anime and reading. But, what I really want is formal training. I plan to cross enroll in japanese language at UP this summer but.... The available course was japanese culture.sob **minna-san gambatte!

I think studying Japanese is fun! Actually no its really hard... I am Korean so I had to study little bit of Kanji so its very helpful with Japanese. I also found out some Japanese words are similar to Korean. Also the manner is quiet similar so I am having a little easy time. Good luck on learning Japanese.
I live anime. Do you anime?

hey hey hey, im gonna take four years of japanese next year, but im scared my english might go down. i can hardly use dynamic words in english and now im trying to leran japanese? >_< i can read a little japanese though, it's not that hard. japanese is actually very very easy once you get used to it. its even easier than english (but then again, what language isnt)! um...i cant learn in a classroom though, there's something wrong with being "forced" to learn a certain amount of things. i can only learn through speech and environment, i cant use books for some reason :( oshiete kudasai!
