learn how to use it XD hehe... seriously~ know your topic or theme.. what do you want to animate.. how do you want it to look like.. then apply what you learn in using flash.. it's your choice whether to start with the main layer or the background then the details.. |

I have some pretty definate plans, I wanted to conclude my sprite comic with a flash animation. Where do I download it? Does it take up alot of space? Is it easy to figure out? |

google it or somewhat, try going to download.com, at least, they have one of those. |

I went there and I'm still very confused. Clicking in certain places took me to a list of very expensive software products. I'm have ideas for a few things I want to make but I'm probably not going to get an extremely high volume of use out of this and I don't want to pay alot of money. In fact considering I don't have income I can't pay at all. Where should I go to download a somewhat decent free program? Or is this not possible? Do I have to wait till I'm older and can buy programs? |

Flash itself is a licesnsed product, so there's no legal way to get it without paying for it in some fashion. However, there is a veritable plethora of open source graphics editors capable of animation. Google yeilded a few results but I'm sure you could find plenty if you looked hard enough. As far as making the actual animation, that can depend on both what you route you go down and what you want you end product to resemble. Take my sig and ava, I made all three on my own. What I have there can be done on just about any platform, you could do it with ms paint (that's almost more trouble than it's worth). If you go the free route you won't have as many special things like effects or patterns but you can make snazzy little animate text boxes that can disply equaly snazzy lines of text. if the above link fails to work just search "open source animation download 2d" in any order and you're bound to find something worthwhile. |

Hmm, i bet that on new grounds I could find something similar in nature to what I want to produce. I'll put a link here if I find one, and I'll see what I can find with your link, thank you. :) EDIT: I looked at the link, and I was uber confused... I'm not very perceptive when it comes to programs. Visiting flash's site it seems they have a very expensive program with a 30-day free trial. I wonder if I could do what I wanted in 30 days? How long does it take to complete a flash animation? Keeping in mind the one I want to do would be about 7 minutes long. |

7 minutes in 30 days is very do-able, assuming you're not trying to create the 8th wonder of the world and you have some semblence of what your doing. On average a basic flash animation of about say 4 minutes could take anywhere from 4 to 8 hours, that's making an animation that's got all the bells and whistles like buttons(ooooh!). Based off of what you want to do it would take a few hours to get all the symbols working right, get the layers correct, and to tween it. If you got none of what I've said that's ok, there's a lot of help when it comes to how to make flash. I think newgrounds even has a few things teaching how. Once you get it down it's going to take less time and before you know it you'll be cranking out works of art. Flash is pretty intuitive once you get the basics. |

That's good. I'll be looking for instructions then so I can get started quicker. :) Do I make the pictures to be sequenced in flash or do I make them separately first? And does the background work independentally to the rest of the picture? The characters are in space, so I thought it would be cool if they had a starry background moving behing them in a loop, and it would change direction occasionally. |

When two pictures fall in love and they want to be animated in flash the get someone to push the tween button and flash does the rest. Go here once you've got flash and are ready to learn. I'm pretty sure that will cover about 99% of what you'll be doing. |

I think from here I can go on my own. I'll come back if I'm wrong, but for now, thank you so much! |

I need help with that too. x3 Been struggling for awhile to find a GOOD program to download. >-> I can't find a single program with great effects and smooth graphics. I want to make something like it's a clip from anime, but NO~ the program's a retard. .o. I actually downloaded a program, but it's not Macromedia Flash MX. It's also a trial, and not really useful. I'd love to help you further, but my way isn't....let's say, appropreate for this forum. D: All I can say is search around the google. Download trials. Ask people who makes flash animations. And if you find a good program, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me the name. ;-; I don't care how expansive it is. ._. BTW, the program I downloaded currently is Sothing SWF Quicker. :0 Try that, if you want. |
