Nintendo DS vs. PSP: Which one is better?

Hi, my birthday is coming and i'm planning to get a Nintendo DS. Some people are saying that PSP is better and some saying they are not. So who is better to rely on but you guys. Give me your verdict and help me to choose to get for my birthday. By the way can you play MP3 music on it?

Well... advanced happy birthday then... Get PSP if you are more into graphics... PSP has still yet to prove itself in portable gaming... (and you can use it for playing videos and mp3s... but if you really want a MP3 player just get an ipod) DS has more good games (the touch screen is a welcome addition)... and since nintendo has a good experience in portable gaming... its a good choice If you are to choose between them... i say check the games that they have first... ummm no Nintendo DS cant play mp3 unless you got that action replay max drive thing that lets you store music and movies into the flash drive thing. I have both PSp and DS lite and i'd say psp is better tho because of internet, music, umd movies suk so its better that u get movies off the net and encode into the system. but the psp game suk right now because most of them are psone games from japan. but when metal gear solid portable ops comes out its gonna get good!! Nintendo DS is gonna be really good for one game Pokemon Diamond/Pearl it looks awesome 3D type like animal crossing for DS kind of design.  |

I borrowed a friend's PSP for a few months and i found it to be pretty good. I havn't tried the DS yet so i guess i'm a bit biased at the moment. I managed to get the PSP running emulators for SNES, SEGA, NeoGeo and a somewhat slow and buggy PSone emulator. So i guess if you're ever short of cash and can't afford umd games you could dump your snes games onto a memstick. Metal Slug in particular was quite fun. For the more nerdy people out there you can also get linux going on it... although i think you'd be a bit die hard if you went to work and started doing spreadsheets on you psp... The psp is also getting a few new gadgets like the camera and the gps unit. Not sure what the camera is mainly going to be used for (it looks more like a low quality camera similar to those found on many phones) but the gps unit is certainly interesting. You get a satnav/multimedia player all in one. UMD movies on the PSP is a bit of a joke after a while. However the psp is probably the way to go in terms of portable porn. Also if you're thinking of grabbing a ps3 it can be used in some games (like the formula one game can use the psp to display a rear view mirror). It could perhaps be used a map for rpg games... |

I'd probably get both lol so I wouldn't have to choose, but out of which is better I would deffently go for the PSP.

well it depends on your choice of games personall id choose the psp for the sleek design,good graphics etc but if you want a two screen portable and the best in the biz..then go for ds if you like nintendo games! |

i say PSP....its has soooo many great games like: Tales of Eternia Metal Gear Acid Metal Gear Acid 2 LocoRocco(thats one funny game)

well.... both handheld is very good. But it looks like PSP is better because it use memory stick and you didn't need to buy the casette because the game can be store inside the memory card, and it can always be use for playing MP3. While DS use a very good technology because it use touch screen, and plus it have 2 screen which is very helpfull and fun.But the casettes cost is expensive and the game cannot be store just like PSP and DS cannot use MP3 player. And I also hear that DS is very popular in Japan. |

PSP win DS by Graphic, Audio AND Function... But DS still out sold PSP worldwide (believe or not) by near 5:1 Reason: longer batt life MUCH more games (including GBA library) near zero loading time compare to PSP NEW games and not old game remake(BOF3, Valkerie Profile, etc...) female friendly games (Nintendogs, Cooking Mama, etc...) Just my humble opinion...

If you want one for playing games I would say DS without a doubt. If you do have the money, get them both. The PSP, as cool as it looks, really hasn't got that many games going for it. Also, the first PSP advert I saw on TV in the UK sucked big time. "It's like carpet." I guess so, in that the DS' sales are walking all over the PSP's. Yeah, I guess it is like carpet.

PSP is more better. has ACTUAL internet access. y'know, myspace and all, even GENDOU!! has MP3 playback, stores craploads of files, games, movies, mp3's, piccies. the whole works!! and plays movies. who can beat that?  |

I would say DS cause of all the games it has. I never like systems that have only a few good games. Not to mention most games on the PSP are on the PS2. And since most ppl have a computer and a MP3 those features are kinda useless. Not to mention you can already play DVDs on the PS2 if you don't have a DVD player. Sure they could be useful on a long trip, I would rather sleep. |

as far as media goes psp beats ds by a long shot, however ds has more titles and a diffrent play style so... graphics: psp>ds game choice(titles): ds>psp media: psp>ds online gaming ds=psp price(of system) ds>psp play style: ds>psp this is like the wii vs. ps3 idea, nintendo isn't going for graphics as much as game play and originality.  |

u can also use the psp as a mp3. wit the ds u might loose the little stick and cant play ur game like the march of the mini game  |
