controlling a computer?
Link | by Mastermind8908 on 2006-10-09 03:04:28
I'm just curious but is there a way to control a persons computer while chatting with them using html,Java, etc? Just do simple stuff like opening the CD-rom door, opening/playing a file. There's an e-mail that circulates around during Halloween where it "possess" your computer for a few seconds and make it do stuff like that. How is it done and can it be done in real-time like while chatting. I know it might sound too taboo to talk about because it probably involves hacking and this thread should be locked if so, but it doesn't hurt to just ask.

in Windows there are ways to target certain higher-level OS functions using ActiveX.
it is my guess the email you are describing uses this.
another way is to simply write a C++ program that does system calls to access hardware (open CD trey) and manipulate the OS state (move the mouse pointer).

Ok I have a far simpler way all you have to do is get the ip address of the computer u want to control then download abtutor and install it on the computer u want to contol and the computer you're controling it from. Then just run the client fill in the right options with the ip address and walla u have control.

Another one of those trojans like Sub-Seven i guess :-). But it does need to run a client on the machine right?

meh, don't use a program like sub-seven, quickest way to send yourself to jail :-)

Besides gaining the IP adress, or installing a program like sub-seven, abtutor, or a VNC program, i don't think theres a way to control a person's computer remotely. I suppose you could find/build yourself a C++ program to do it or use ActiveX like he said. If you want to know how to control it while chatting with them, i know theres some AIM programs that open and shut cd trays and shut down the aim client. You can google search that one ;)

Ukulele no good.

thanks for all the info guys (or girls?). I'll check on some of those. not crazy about giving trojans though, I'm not looking to cause chaos. Not very educated in C++ or programs like ActiveX and Abtutor. Is messengers like Msn and Windows messenger available for this? okay heres the thing, I chat with this girl (stop freaking, she over 18) and just want to do things like play a song on her comp or other things, thats why I started this thread. If no further replies appear after say a week, please lock this thread and thanx again.

Remote desktop might be a possibility, though I know nothing about the feature.

How about Remote Assistance, Remote Desktop or even netmeeting ?

All these are installed as standard on windows machines
