Anyone here a fan of Gokusen? If you don't know, I'll give a brief introduction. It's published in a female comic magazine called "YOU." It's pretty much a female version to GTO, but not necessarily a rip off. The main character is Yamaguchi Kumiko (nicknamed Yankumi), the granddaughter of Tokyo's biggest Yakuza boss and is the heiress to the Ooedo clan. Her parents who did not want to be part of the yakuza lifestyle died in a car crash when she was a child so she was immediatley put in the custody of her grandfather and has grown up to be a strong woman. However her parents were teachers and has decided to become a teacher to fulfill her obligations to her parents. However, she must hide the fact that she is the granddaughter of a yakuza boss or she will lose her job. She is placed in an all boys delinquent school and now she has to shape them up into taking school seriously. Even if she has to use methods she has learned in the yakuza or use her connections. Anyway, like GTO, it also has a live action version starring Nakama Yukie (who plays Yamamura Sadako in Ringu 0) and Matsumoto Jun of Arashi. I actually reccomend the live action more since it had a better story and much better character development (especially with Kumai). There are currentley doing a second season of the drama right now in Japan (though mostly with orignial characters with the excemption of Yankumi, the Vice Principal and Kumai). It now also co-stars Akanishi Jin of KAT-TUN as well as another member of that group. I thought the anime was pretty stale compared to the live action and now I'm eager to get the manga. For J-Dorama fans here, Matsumoto Jun's character, Sawada Shin and Kumai also had cameo's in another j-dorama starring another member of Arashi (forgot his name) in Yoiko no Mikata, a drama about a guy who wants to become a nursery school teacher.

This was a really good series. It was way too short though (13 episodes!). I wish it was as long as GTO, because I loved GTO as well.  |

I'm pretty sure with the recent success of the 2nd season of the drama, there might be more anime coming out.

| yo! i like gokusen live action and anime, haven't read the manga. I like the second season of gokusen live action then the first, i guess is because the 2nd is more like the anime even thou it has different people and schools anyways, i just like the second one better. o_o| |

Yeah, I like KAT-TUN more than Arashi anyway. I wish I had talent (and the looks) like Akanishi Jin.

gokusen is a really well-made anime and i agree... WHY did it have to be only 13 episodes??!
life sucks.... only when you're a vacuum...

I guess with the 2nd drama being really successful, maybe there will be more anime. Who knows, maybe if aired on cartoon network, the fans can get more episodes like they did with Big O.

i loved watching the JDrama of Gokusen 1st season... i started by watching 4 episodes of the anime and i bought the drama! haha...i cant wait until till i can watch the second season!! i heard it is similiar to the first season, but the class Yankumi takes is a lot more tougher!!! >"< *~gloomy ash~*

I LOVE THAT SHOW! I am obsessed with Sawada Shin...anyone see the special to that show? The alive action one...they go the osen...and Noda doesn't make it into college along with a few other guys but Shin, Kumai, Minami and Ucchi do...i HATED the ending to that...the new class was like a bootlegged version of 3-D...and it ended with them! The Tetsu/Shin/Shinohara/and the other police dude should be resolved...Shin should totally win though. ...yeah...  You're JUN (alias MatsuJun) MATSUMOTO!! Your bright and sunny smile makes the sun shine brighter everyday! You laugh a lot, you play practical jokes on people, and you like to compete with the group's heartbreaker to see who gets to cap on the people best! | teehee... kurama, i replied to the other gokusen thread, but it appears you already know about the live-action series. anyway, between the two, i like the j-drama more than the anime. nakama yukie is just hilarious as yankumi. |

yeah... i like gokusen.. it's very funny.. speaking of jdrama, compared to gto i like the version of gokusen more... but all in all... i like gto, it's still the best!!!  |

Yeah, it's a very cool anime; much like GTO. Those two tie out for me! The anime isn't that good, but it's hella funny! I enjoyed it more! The Live Action is what I'm currently anticipating... well, problems inserted here. >.< Talk about unfinished endings... I hated it. It's not yet complete, I believe so! Now if they could only think of adding a sequel, all will be fine! XD |

GOKUSEN IS AWESOME! My friend call's me a traitor for ditching Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho for Sawada Shin. I have these obsessions. Kurama went on for half a year. I told her that Sawada Shin is from the alive action and not an anime so they can't be compared but noooooo...she thinks I should change my name to Sawada Shin. Heh. I should.
