i spend an average of 3 hours a day on my website ... uploading, keeping up with the forum, etc.

it depends; PHP is pretty easy if you have seen perl before. if you are only used to C++/Java you may have a hard time understanding the $variables at first. dont worry, cause php.net has a really good reference.
